Ramada Hotel & Suites by Wyndham Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora|0.23km from downtown
This was the 3rd time visiting Kranjska Gora and 2nd time staying at Ramada Hotel & Suites, having first stayed there pre-pandemic. Unfortunately this stay was nowhere near to as good as the first time. We emailed the hotel several.months in advance requesting two adjacent rooms as travelling with our son if possible or at least rooms on the same floor - son was put on ground floor and us on first floor. Check in straightforward, reception staff efficient and professional at all times. Hotel is now very dated but its selling point is the location, just a few minutes walk to tge ski slopes and right in the middle of the village. Room - very tired, dated and in desperate need of updating. Opened wardrobe door to find previous occupiers rubbish still in it. 2 single beds pushed together to make a double and the mattress protectors kept sliding off in the night. Very thin but lumpy pillows and two tissue thin duvets. Requested more pillows but checked out still waiting for them to be supplied! Only one plug socket in room so take an extension lead with you. No fan or air conditioning in room - very hot and stuffy but can't easily get fresh air as only ventilation is door onto balcony and very noisy from outside if open. As son on ground floor this wasn't even an option for him. Bathroom also very dated with small shower and threadbare towels. Food - we found the food options had really gone downhill from our previous visit. Breakfast was limited choice, hot options all lukewarm and a free for all for the pancakes and waffles when available. Dinner was even worse with options of meat reimagined from the previous evening, fish and some sort of potato. By the end of the week we were craving fresh vegetables. Small salad bar and repetitive choice of cold meat and cheese. Bottled water at 5€ is ridiculous - we asked for tap water to be told not possible. Pizzeria which was always very good on site is now closed which is a shame. Recommend Pizza Kotnik and Restaurant Lacni Kekec if you want hit, fresh food. You do get the use of the swimming pools at Kompas and Ramada Hotel which is a nice bonus. Both were awfully busy every time we went full of unsupervised small children but the pools are nice, if cold. Towels are 3€ each to hire. Location of the hotel is its main selling point but that's not enough for us to return again sadly
