I’ve booked 2 rooms for my wife and our two kids… Staff tries their best to support customers with the available possibilities. Rooms are renovated at some point but doesn’t make it up to a 4 star standard. I’ve been at many places in Italy, Europe and world wide. But this hotel doesn’t deserve to have 4 stars. Best off you’re with 2 stars here, and let them work towards a 3rd. Poorly equipped rooms with minimalistic basics are a disgrace. Rooms are partly clean, with remaining sand/dirt and probably other previous room guests belongings. Air conditioning doesn’t work, remember to keep all doors / windows closed, then it will run and makes strange noises to get you off bed, but won’t cool you off. Minibar fridge is filled, but won’t cool the containing drinks and just makes noise. Rooms are without glasses for your drinks. No complimentary bottled water is provided by the hotel. Pool urgently requires cleaning to remove the stains along the water level area and the water itself. There’s no towel service at the pool. Shower at the pool didn’t work either (no water). If you drive any SUV or station wagon, you won’t be able to park inside their parking, which is available for additional € 30.-/day. Maybe you’re lucky and get a spot in front of the hotel (+€15,-/day). If not, find a spot along the street side. Bikes are available for rental +€14.- / persons & day. Good thing is, hotel is in walking distance to the beach. And for the final, the breakfast; A wide variety of breads, Cereals, fruits and more. But not at 4-Star level quality. Enjoy your stay….

For the third time we stayed in this facility and we can reiterate that everything was perfect: reception, availability, restaurant, room and cleaning. It has been ten beautiful days, especially appreciating the kindness of all the staff, well managed by the word. Mr. Paul: we will certainly return! To remember and underestimate the comfort of having dinner in their warm bathroom (Marcia) served by mythical Michele, Tito and Rolando, always ready to meet any request, as well as the bathroom Daniele. Thank you and a greeting from Ticino by Gabriella and Claudio
Hotel Il Negresco

e found Negresco to be quite a charming place so why just 2 stars. ITs all about expectations vs spend. The hotel fees were very high (similar to the 4 seasons hotel) and so we were expecting 4 seasons service and accommodations. Our hosts were nice but my first surprise was that when i came in they told me i must find street parking because they ran out of parking spots. This is something that can be expected from a 2 star hotel but when spending this much- as a welcome is completely unacceptable. Also they never asked me if I wanted to reserve a spot when I made the hotel reservation. I was in constant contact with the hotel about reservations etc and never once did they mention the parking to me. Even motels offer parking Also I got yelled at by the staff in front of other guests that evening because we left our room service outside of my room. Typically room service is left outside the door in a hotel so I wasn’t sure what I did wrong. not only were we embarrassed, we were shocked. Another issue i had was no internet access. It was worse then my flight internet. When I complained i was told in a very cold manner. Its not us- must be to much use.. This to me is again unacceptable. It is not my problem that you have not set up your internet properly. There was no attempt to rectify the problem at all. The location of the property was also very noisy as you can hear a lot of cars etc outside at night. The rooms itself were old and outdated and the AC hard to use.

During our two-night stay which started out pleasantly, on the first night my adult son reserved a used beach cruiser bike the hotel offers guests. The bike was unfortunately stolen. (He locked it in a proper bike rack) When we reported the theft to the hotel owner, we were treated with a lack of respect or empathy as hotel guests but rather as criminals and not a victim of crime. We promptly contacted the US Consulate who encouraged us to ask the hotel to file a report with the local police. We asked for the owner’s assistance and he said no. And, before offering any additional inquiry promptly demanded payment for the bike. He said he would contact the bike shop for documentation with the date and amount he paid for it but that never materialized. We asked about the hotel insurance policy which he claimed did not cover the bike. He did say the bike was used and thought he paid $280 about 18 months prior…(Note: we noticed the bikes were left outdoors, not in an indoor storage facility.) Following the advice from the US Consulate, we went on our own to the local police station and filed a statement. They suggested we provide the report to the hotel owner which he reluctantly accepted. At the end of the day, the paperwork had still not arrived and the owner became very belligerent and berated us for not agreeing on a payment even though we offered the 1/3 which we thought was reasonable for a used bike and without seeing any documentation. We had an early morning train the next day and requested to check out that evening but he would not let us without restitution on the bike! (Note: again the paperwork he said he’d have was never provided.) Following his hostile verbal demeanor, we called the police to ask them to help us get permission to checkout. An hour later the police said everything was taken care of. At the checkout that night (with a hotel employee, not the owner) we paid our bill and noticed a “service charge” of $140. We were told this was for the bike payment. This was half of the original “alleged” price as the documentation was not provided. We paid this just to get the unpleasant experience behind us. For context, I am a veteran traveler to Italy of more than 35 years having traveled for both work and pleasure. Presently I am a part-time tour operator organizing tours to Italy and have traveled as a guest with the Italian Government Tourist Agency/ENIT. I have stayed in luxury hotels and in simple agriturismos and have never experienced a lack absence of customer service on this level!

Nice house, centrally located and yet almost quiet at the end of a cul- de-sac. Everything within easy walking distance: beach, town center, shops, evening strolls. Ideal for large families or small groups.
