Just had a three night stay as part of a twenty person group from our classic car club on a pre booked dinner, bed and breakfast basis. We used the hotel as our local base for drives and events in the area, returning each day for meals and accommodation. Whilst the hotel is nicely situated and in reasonably good repair, the catering service let it down badly. We had a fixed price dinner menu, with a selection across three courses each evening. Unfortunately the standard of the meals lacked consistency in quality, temperature, efficiency of service delivery, portion sizes and presentation. Despite booking the stay in September 2023, they were clearly unprepared/understaffed to meet our needs as well as other guests. The waiting staff struggled to deliver the correct food to people, it was often cold and delivered in a slap-dash manner. Breakfasts were invariably served late with waiting times up to an hour, with wrong or forgotten items, leading to further delays. A simple breakfast order of bacon and toast took an hour to arrive - toast uncooked and two frazzled slices of bacon on top - inedible. The overworked staff tried their hardest, but management should have organised extra help. To think this hotel caters for wedding and other functions, I was surprised and very disappointed with service levels. I would find it difficult to recommend the venue to anyone.

We were so looking forward to our 2 night stay at The Manor in Crickhowell. Our niece had bought us a voucher for Chris**as so we thought we would treat ourselves and we paid an additional £280 for a DELUXE room (which worked out to almost £200 per night in total). Perhaps my expectations are too high, but the room we were allocated was not deluxe in my mind (I have worked in hotels and feel we were penalised by using a voucher). Our initial view was that the room was just ok. It had an amazing view which unfortunately we initially focussed on). So unfortunately we didn’t notice the defects when we first arrived, and had unpacked and gone for dinner before really realising how grim it actually was and felt it was too late to say anything by then (not that anyone asked us at any point if everything was ok, including the receptionist who checked us out). The good: it was an absolutely beautiful view! Breakfast was excellent (and served on lovely hot plates), the staff were lovely (especially Sheryl). The bad: (see pictures), but scruffy room, cracked and chipped basin, mould around hinges on bathroom door, cheap furniture (one still had the sticky labels on showing how to put it together), mis matched carpet, chipped and scratched paint on walls and shelves. Just generally scruffy, tatty and completely NOT deluxe. I’m sure the management will reply to say they will take more comments on board, but it really took the shine off our whole stay 😞 and feel so disappointed.

Excellent afternoon tea booked for a family reunion. Beautiful hotel, plenty of parking, stunning views across the valley. Helpful and pleasant staff. We were well looked after and had the dining room to ourselves after the popular Sunday carvery. Despite it being towards the end of normal afternoon service we were assured that we could stay as long as we liked to catch up with family. We felt very much at home. Thoroughly recommend.

A group of us went for afternoon tea and to visit Sir Everests family home. Beautiful surroundings and interior. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of choice for the actual tea. Scones were lush. The vegetarians were well catered for. We were disappointed with the sandwiches which we felt were just run of the mill. The fillings were basic which didn’t reflect in the price. Perhaps a little more attention to detail e.g. cutting off the crust, more exciting fillings.

Sunday carvery was lovely, dubious as I’ve had bad experiences of carvery’s. Beef ham and turkey was tenderly, braised red cabbage was lovely. Price was reasonable and the surroundings hotel and restaurant were lovely. Staff couldn’t be any friendlier. I would highly recommend a visit for Sunday lunch ..

Very welcoming hotel after a good day walking. We stayed with two adults, two children and a dog. Well set up and welcoming to the dog which was good, even at meal times in a separate dining room to the main restaurant. Food was great, both dinner and breakfast. Kids enjoyed the pool. Well located for all the Brecon Beacons has to offer. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time we are in the area.
