We stayed at Evergreen Lodge on a wildlife tour with Exodus. It's a lovely location, accessed by boat, close to Tortuguero National Park. The grounds are full of wildlife - howler and capuchin monkeys, agouti, frogs. The cabins are comfortable, attractive and shaded, sensitively arranged among trees. Breakfast, lunch and dinners were all good. Keep your door closed. Capuchin monkeys take anything left out at the Monkey Bar. We watched them upend beer bottles and lick out cocktail glasses.

Our Collette Tour group stayed at the Evergreen Lodge during our visit to the Tortuguero National Park. While the safari tour on the water was a great wildlife viewing experience, the wildlife around the lodge was equally good. The howler monkey wakeup call was better than an alarm clock. Walking the grounds we saw poison dart frogs, a variety of birds and the ever-present capuchin monkeys which were always entertaining. I got some great video footage of their antics.

Enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay. Rooms well equipped for basic accommodation. Loved the lodges having no windows to add to the experience of sleeping within the Costa Rican wildlife. Food was tasty and varied each day and staff were friendly. Would give 5 stars if more nature trails but understand due to restrictions and location. Wonderful start to our Costa Rican adventure.

The location of the lodge about half a mile from National Park office is good. There is plenty of wildlife around the buildings and excellent wildlife viewing on the boat tours. We were travelling as a couple with this being the second of 7 overnight stays during our 18 day holiday in Costa Rica We were allocated a table in the dining room with another UK couple right in front of the servery for hot meals which made it very hot, also with people constantly passing by. After a day we all asked to move to a table which was vacant in a much cooler area which the staff reluctantly allowed us to do. The food was basic but edible, sadly not up to the standard of the other very remote lodge we stayed in Osa Pennisula. The cabins provided clean basic accommodation with standard insect mesh windows provided in similar lodges with no air conditioning. The boat, guide and bar staff were all excellent during our staff.

The food and location is perfect. There is wildlife everywhere and you will not be disappointed. The food is basic but delicious and predominantly Costa Rican. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The only negative is that there is limited furniture in the rooms. Nowhere to sit and write/read. No table. Lighting is also poor.

Think Glamming. Resort was nice grounds were well kept and staff were friendly. Meals were basic buffet but all was what was expected. Bring a portable hand held or small fan. Makes a world of difference. Mosiquto spray is highly suggeested also. We visited in early December

This was the first stop after San Jose on an Exodus Tour of Costa Rica. Getting there took several hours on a tour bus, then about 90 minutes in a motor launch. The Lodge is located outside the Park which means a 5 minute boat ride to check in at the Rangers’ Office. The rooms are all individual cabin/ bungalows, well equipped and with plenty of room. There is a pool as well. All food has to be brought in by boat, like we were. As a result, the choice isn’t enormous and fare a bit basic but quite edible. Staff were excellent.

Only one bad comment : how come that in the middle of the nature there’s the whole day such a noise of different machines ?? The guy blowing the leaves from early morning to the afternoon with a diesel machine …honestly ? This should be an experience in the middle of the forest, and we had the feeling to be in the center of a big city It’s a pity All the rest was as expected and fine

Evergreen Lodge was our home for two nights while on a Collette Tour in Costa Rica. It was perfectly acceptable, but keep your expectations reasonable considering you are in the middle of a jungle in a national park. This ain’t the JW Marriott. Rooms are not air conditioned, beds are small, and apparently the septic system is inadequate. Toilet paper had to be placed in a trash can, not flushed. Food was ok, again considering the location. I recommend this place, but have realistic expectations.
