Hotel Le Colombier Suites
4.3/550 Reviews
A beautiful hotel with very spacious suites in the center of the old town. We had a suite in the building behind the main building where you had to cross a small street. The room is spacious with a separate area where there is a sofa and TV. The sleeping area is large with a lovely bed and adjoining bathroom, which is also very spacious. In the garden are a few seats that you can use. The mini-bar is well stocked with, among other things, a nice beer and a beautiful wine from Alsace. The hotel has five small covered parking spaces that you must reserve in advance. One of the parking spaces is equipped with a charger for an electric car. With an SUV or, for example, a Tesla, it is a challenge to get in and out. The breakfast is good but not special. Unfortunately, the one-way route to the buffet was not clear to every guest. All in all, a beautiful hotel, with very clean and spacious rooms and very friendly staff in a great location.

Note it’s not ‘almost an hotel’ but ‘an ‘almost’ hotel’ by that I mean things are ‘almost’ perfect - but not quite. The car park is a faff to get into, two gates entered via a clicker available from reception on a parallel street. The spaces are small and very fiddly to get anything bigger than a Fiat 500 into. OK, I missed the part about the entry code being on one of the pieces of paper given to me but why is it needed in the first place? The room we had was classed as a ‘Junior Suite’ actually just a family room with three beds. The main shower, an over bath variety, so not easy for a less than nimble wife, was just a small shower head set in the wall producing a pretty pathetic spray, ok there was a hand held head as well. Just one tea bag and coffee sachet for each person but with really nice china cups but cheap, thin plastic water cups. Air Con set at 24c and, as far as I could make out, not adjustable, It sounded like a 747 on take off, all night, and did nothing to lower the room’s temperature. Breakfast was just about OK, but very unremarkable in an overcrowded restaurant where the tables were jammed together, cheek by jowl. So, nothing horrible, just a hotel that ‘almost’ makes its 4 star classification - almost but not quite.
Hôtel Mercure Colmar Centre Unterlinden

The hotel is located between the train station and the scenic spot. It is convenient to travel, the town is not big, and you can measure it with your feet. The room is not big, it smells a bit, and it takes a long time to open the window.

From the moment we walked into this hotel we were greeted by an extremely helpful and friendly member of staff. He sorted out our car parking, in a secure underground car park and then sorted all the paperwork. The room was perfection. It was cool, extremely comfortable, extremely quiet, and absolutely spotlessly clean. I really can’t recommend this hotel enough one of the few hotels we have stayed in where there was literally no issues whatsoever. The staff in particular were all extremely friendly and helpful. It’s just a short walk from the very pretty old town centre, where there are multiple excellent restaurants. This will be definitely one of our places for a stopover on the way down to the south of France in the future.

The hotel is very good, Trip.com is very pit. The price is actually 20 euros more expensive than the official website and does not include breakfast? The scenery here in the hotel is OK, opposite is the small Venice, the hotel is simply in the attractions.
Hotel le Colombier

To start, the hotel is in a perfect location - steps from Little Venice with lots of restaurants, wine bars, sites within a 10 min walk. The rooms (in the suite across the street) were also a good size - which was great for my 4 night stay. That being said, for the price there were definitely some things that you should be aware of. As the previous reviewer mentioned, some rooms - especially in the suites across the street - did not have an elevator. This was not communicated ahead of time so is a bit difficult if you have larger luggage. I booked my room at Le Colombier, but was given a room at Le Colombier Suites. Luckily i'm in decent physical condition so lugging my bags up and down wasn't the worst for me. Additionally, while the room itself was nice, there were some aspects which I didn't like - for one, the toilet was completely seperated from the shower/sink area - in a completely isolated part of the suite (i couldn't even find it when i first checked in, i had to call and ask where it was). Again, not a huge deal but when you use the restroom in the middle of the night and have to walk around in the dark looking for the toilet and then walking all the way to the other side to wash hands, it's not ideal. Second, there were spiders in my room. I killed 2 during my stay - I wish I had taken photos to show them, but was too freaked out when I saw them to look for my phone. I know its an older building so there will be some bugs, but again for the price this was pretty frustrating. And finally, (this may seem small to some people but was impt to me), I booked this hotel because they said there was a gym. Which is true, there's a ”gym” but its literally 2 machines, in a space smaller than my hotel room. And it was in a 3rd building, two streets away from my room. Again, not the end of the world but was just very inconvenient and not communicated appropriately ahead of time. Overall, I would give this hotel another chance because of the location and room size, but definitely a few things to keep in mind.
