When I was searching for somewhere to stay in Bourton on the Water I double checked everywhere on @tripadvisor as to whether they catered well. The lovely Sunny Nest had some lovely reviews but as I booked I still sent a little message making sure it was OK for them to cater for gluten and dairy free, which Jill confirmed was no problem at all! Wow!!!! The breakfast was impeccable! I was offered gf granola or fruit salad (as you can the fruit salad was flaming gorgeous! Not a roll your eyes fruit salad!), gluten free toast, juice coffee and then mains! On the Saturday morning I chose salmon and scrambled eggs and my husband had the Full Cotswold Breakfast, the next day we swapped! Both were absolutely beautiful! The scrambled eggs had the perfect creaminess and on the Sunday the Full Breakfast beat me! 😂🙈 Nothing was too much trouble. Jill had sat us next to the patio doors so I could sit and see Betty their gorgeous goat and I was given toast to go and feed her each morning! 💕 (my husband had mentioned how much I love goats 😂 so I though this was really lovely of her to sit us there) After a day out Saturday we returned for a nap and found that she'd left some fresh water for us, a chocolate heart and a naked bar for me. Really thoughtful-thank you so much for an absolutely gorgeous stay!!!!! I think we will be bringing our son back for a stay as he would adore Bourton on the Water and meeting Betty!

Amazing welcome at this guest house, visited for my mum's 80th and I stayed in the single room whilst my mum and niece stayed in the twin room. Couldn't fault the rooms which were tastefully decorated. Comfy beds and excellent service from the staff. Even arranged booking a table for our evening meal. On-site parking and only short distance walk into the village (which was picture perfect!) Breakfast was stunning and willing to adapt choices if asked. Will definitely be returning

Very clean and spacious room overlooking the High Street. Quiet room. Generous sized bathroom. Rooms serviced daily if you put the tag on the door when you go out. Wall radiator heating was on and off at irregular times - a bit frustrating in the winter weather. Good breakfast delivered to the rooms if you tick your choices on the tag and time you prefer it to be delivered and place it outside your door the night before. There was a gentleman who we met when we were letting ourselves into the front door. He was very helpful and advised us about ordering breakfast and room cleaning daily service, using the tags. He cleaned and serviced the rooms. Bottled water and milk , tea and coffee supplied . Very conveniently situated guesthouse with easy access to local restaurants and pubs in the high street. The access to the rooms was via carpeted stair case. Parking was at a public parking area very close by that you pay for by card on site.

Bourton-on-the-water , Had a wonderful stay 5-8th January 2024 for my partners 41st Birthday celebration. Lodgings were comfortable, cosy, very well located & included a superb Breakfast, hot & very tasty. Isabella, the hosts representative was brilliant, very helpful, well mannered, polite and extremely assistive, ( P.S hope you enjoyed your Magnum's :-) Do not expect The Savoy level of stay when paying Travelodge prices, Building is old and quirky, wonky doors, walls, floors, etc, but has much character, lovely spaces and is very clean, tidy and well serviced. Was a great base for exploring all the Cotswolds has to offer, would defo stay again. A few things to note, in busy summer months Bourton is absolutely rammed, excessively busy, beware ! From the end of the first week of January most businesses close for 2-3 weeks holiday, as open most of the Christmas 🎄 period, for Food shopping and supplies there's a great Co-op about 5 minutes walk from chestnuts use the alleyways its quickest route. ☆☆☆☆☆

This weekend we had lunch with a large group of friends at the New Old Inn. On being sat for the meal no one asked us if we wanted drinks - not then or at any time during our meal. Water was provided. During the meal we weren't asked, as is customary, if everything was OK with our food or if there was anything else we needed. Most odd. In fact, those waiting on us, especially the 2 gentlemen, seemed unhappy to be there and were, when passing behind diners chairs or reaching across the table, quite unmannerly and also particularly noisy, banging crockery on the table at the rear of the dining room. Onto the meal - 2 pieces of bread cut in half (for 4 people) on a plate but no side plates and no butter knives so we used our starter knives and ate bread from the tablecloth. The prawn cocktail starter was ordinary but passable. I was really looking forward to the main course - the menu read, 'Gloucester Old Spot Pork, Crispy Crackling, Bramley Apple Puree, served with Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables' - sounds good! In reality I had 2 slices of pork, both with generous layers of fat and wet, floppy skin. Not the crispy crackling advertised. I politely asked the waitress if she could bring some crackling. She returned to tell me that they didn't have any crackling and that the pork was all gone. Apple sauce came but no serving spoon so we used our main course knives. The roasties (plural) consisted of 2 small potatoes. Descriptively correct, though a little mean, but overshadowed by the 'seasonal vegetables' which consisted of a slice of carrot and one broccoli spear. Again, not a lie as it was more than one vegetable, but they couldn't have economised more, except by serving individual peas! I know portion sizes have shrunk in our current economy but this is taking it to a new level. The desert was apple crumble which would have felt at home in any school canteen. And the price of this gourmet fayre? £56 for 2 people. Please find an alternative if you are contemplating booking, especially if it's for an occasion. We couldn't recommend this hotel and will never return, which is a shame as we regularly visit family living just 20 minutes away and are always looking for great eateries, We won't forget it, though, so we've put it in the 'making memories' pile.

The hotel is in Lower Strauss, an old noble, elegant and rustic high-end hotel. The waiters are very good, the gentlemen are polite, and the hotel rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast is a semi-buffet ➕ order, and the breakfast quality is excellent. For dinner, you need to book a seat with the restaurant in advance, and try to enter the restaurant in a formal dress. The price is not outrageous and the taste is acceptable. The small villages and towns surrounding the hotel are far more beautiful than the upper Strauss and Arlington townhouses, with few people and quiet, which are especially suitable for daze. This place is suitable for driving.
