Ermita, Cartagena, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Fantastic service from all the workers!! The breakfast was always delicious. You could really spend your whole vacation just in the hotel with all the food options - but if you want to go out they have a complimentary van as well as a trusted taxi service right outside. One of the best experiences I’ve had! Happy to have celebrated my graduation here

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The staff is always nice and helpful. Rooms are exactly as shown on their website. Wifi was good. They buzz you in and out of the hotel which I liked for security reasons. The area around the hotel is very good and safe. Lots of shops, resturants, and even a grocery store. ( ATM's in grocery store, 2nd flr). Its centrally located and easy to walk to all the historical sites. The front desk attendant Cindy was a dream. She was always so helpful, polite and courteous. She booked a massage for me and they even picked me up from the hotel. Cindy also helped me with getting a covid test for my return to the US at the hotel. Area around the hotel was safe especially with me being a solo female traveler. Would definitely stay here again.

My boyfriend and I traveled to Cartagena and stayed at this amazing little hotel just outside of the walled city. From start to finish the staff was welcoming and accommodating. We had no expectations, but they really left a great first impression of the city. It’s difficult to say what was my favorite part! The staff makes breakfast for you every morning with fresh juice and fruits and different meals each day. The back patio area and upper patio was the perfect place to relax after wandering the streets of Cartagena. Which in itself is a life changing experience. The hotel itself is located within MINUTES of major attractions and a short distance to the heart of Getsemani, which I recommend seeing for a first hand experience of the warmth and kindness of Colombia. There were tons of shops and restaurants close by and the beach is literally a road over, for those looking. Overall, it was the way the staff interacted with us and made sure we were happy and enjoying our time here. They even tracked down some ibuprofen for me in the late hours of the morning for a stubborn headache I experienced my first night. And they allowed us to leave our bags, free of charge for the last three hours of our trip after check-out and then arranged for a cab to take us to the airport I could go on and on. Thank you again Maria, Javier and Gregoria for your hospitality. Ciao.

This hotel was fine - the staff seemed a bit clueless when we were there though. We had requested to be picked up from the airport but they obviously had never booked it. When I rang they hung up on me and then took too long to reply to my whatsapp’s. Thankfully there are loads of reputable taxis outside the airport. When we arrived we didn’t get any apologies. We also arrived early so asked if we could have breakfast there - at first he seemed confused and said no but then later said yes but we led need to pay, fine. The staff at breakfast and in the restaurant was good and friendly and the food was great. The rooms are basic but clean. There is no hairdryer. The hotel looked a bit tired but then it is cheaper than similar options in the area.
Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena

This is a stunning property in the heart of the old town. The rooms are nice and the staff is super friendly. One factor you may want to know and we learnt the hard way is that language is a major issue in Colombia. No one really speaks English and google translate was our best friend. Even in a top notch hotel like Sofitel this may be an issue. Just something to be aware of which came as a surprise to us. Just a FYI The breakfast was fantastic. The fruit choices are exotic and amazing I do want to put in a shout ouut to Carlos Jesús, Jaison , Jose and Jorge who were our servers in our 4 wonderful days at the hotel. I would definitely come back here!!

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It was also the most comfortable bed I had in all my time in Colombia! The hotel is very safe- they always keep the door locked and someone is on staff to let you in (there is a little buzzer). They offered us a welcome drink in their bar. The room was on the smaller side (common in Colombia) but plenty of room in my book. I would categorize this as a budget hotel/ high end hostel rather than boutique hotel. There is a hotel bar.. we were worried about the noise because our room was on the ground floor (lobby) and the door to the bar was directly across from us. However, I will say the door to the bar is pretty sound proof. We did not really hear anything. Not sure if you were above the bar but the noise wasn't an issue in our room. Please keep in an open mind because Cartagena is catching up to tourism and they have lots of lessons to learn. You probably will have some sort of ”issue” unless you are staying at the top $$$$ hotels. The concerns for this hotel included.... The breakfast is terrible. The hotel may be better served by skipping it because it is just bad (rubber egg and toast with overripe fruit). The hotel should consider just putting a tray of croissant or something which would have been better. The A/C worked well but it was dripping in our room. It would hit the mirror and splash on our bed. We solved it ourselves by putting a towel up on the mirror but the hotel should address this. I think they had a recent problem with hot water based on a review on google. We stayed only a few days after that review and we did not have hot water for two days. With how sweaty you get in Cartagena a cool shower may be nice but not a frozen one. I honestly can get past these types of issues but the hotel did not offer anything to us or keep us updated on the repairs (for instance maybe a late check out, a free drink at their bar..)
