3 Star Hotels in Cambridge

The hotel was a little bit further than I expected from the town centre. There is a bus route that can go to the town but it's up to a 10 min walk. It would be great if the hotel provided at least a shuttle service because taxis were also quite expensive just for a few miles. The hotel itself was presentable, the staff was helpful and nice, and the rooms were also spacious enough and clean with all the usual amenities. My room had the disabled bathroom so it was a little bigger I think but the drainage needs sorting out because the whole floor almost flooded with water. The heating A/C was working well and quiet. Breakfast the next morning was included in the price and the choice was basic but enough. I did feel that the plate was smaller than many other places I've stayed at but I guess that was to avoid food waste. They had scambled egg only, sausages, bacon, beans, toast, tea/coffee/juice, 3 cereals and spreads for toast-not bad but could be a little better in variety.

Starting with their location, its quite far from Cambridge Station. From Cambridge Station to hotel: by walk is around 22 mins, by bus is 19-22 mins (£2.80 Adult). From Cambridge City Centre to hotel: by walk is around 27 mins, by bus is 15-19 mins (£1.50 Adult - Elizabeth Way Stop, £1.80 Adult - Newmarket Road stop) Their sevices are ok, friendly and respectful. But no smile, as in poker face. Cleanliness is on point. Absolutely clean and spotless. Very comfortable. As for amenities, they provide all-in-one wash which is bodywash + shampoo in one container fixed firmly on the wall. No bar soap.

The room is very clean, warm and spacious. The room is high. The bathroom is large with a bathtub. The waiters are very beautiful. The decoration and breakfast are very British. The sunset over the Jianhe River next to the hotel is so beautiful. I will come again. Yes. Highly recommended by friends and family!

Staff were very helpful on multiple occasions. First, we had to change our booking owing to the heatwave, and while Booking.com failed us in this regard, a quick phone call to Alex, the receptionist, got us all sorted. Secondly, the staff were very generous with provided fans, offering as many as we'd like, and thirdly when we had to use ”Send my Bag.com” to get some suitcases back home, they handled everything on their end perfectly and without charge. The hotel itself has some nice old interior decor, and the continental breakfast was very generous. Location was also a big plus, as it is difficult to find anywhere closer to the old university town. One small gripe would be that the en suite had a few minor spots missed in its cleaning, though the room itself was spotless.

An unexpected hotel, a standard old British-style hotel, without an elevator, but it seems that the accommodation has a total of 2 floors, and the first floor is the restaurant. Use the key to open the door and hand the key to the front desk when you go out. Although the room is not big, the toilet is quite big and the breakfast is very good.

Firstly, I have to say, some of the reviews here are a poor reflection on what actually is offered. The hotel and gardens itself is stunningly beautiful, and the rooms although small are gorgeously decorated and have most things you would need in them, including a fan. You have to realise this is a very old building, so it will have its charms (for example, not all windows will open in the older part of the house) but overall, the beauty of the rooms outweigh these small details, and the rooms are thoughtful and homely. Alison runs a ”dry venue” so she will make sure everything runs to plan, but really it is up to you to make sure the day runs as it should. They don't have facility to offer you a bar/restaurant - however what they do offer is very well executed. They are pretty hands off, which is fine, I just asked permission for what I needed, briefed everyone thoroughly and the day went without a hitch. I personally couldn't have been happier. Check-in is from 1500 which is stated when you book the room, which for the majority of people who came to our wedding was fine, it is contactless, no issue there as far as I'm concerned. The bridal suite isn't available until 11am - which in my case was fine. I paid for another room in which to get ready and leave my dress etc the day before which saved a scramble on the day. It was only up the corridor from the bridal suite and I only took what I needed. The caterer RF recommend - CDC are absolutely flawless, and our food and drinks service was absolutely outstanding. Sam who was put in charge of running our day, and Ellena who looked after us in the lead up were absolutely fantastic. The food was tasty, hot, and plentiful, we opted for buffet style and I can't find a single guest who had anything negative to say about the entire day. I hired a company to decorate and pack down my marquee the next day - and someone to deliver my wine (a man in a van) which was a godsend as again, no faff! Without the help of these companies you would end up doing it yourself, and in the terms of the contract you do have to vacate the marquee by 10am so do bear this in mind. I think considering my wedding isn't the only one this year (shocking, I know) that was absolutely fair enough, and these times were easily achievable by my team. CDC cleared everything to the side - bless them, and Roger locked the marquee overnight so everything was easily packed into our car the next day and safe. Breakfast did change in the time between booking and getting married, but the English charm of the self boiled eggs, the portmerion dishes and the little pots of tea and toast was adorable and not far away from what I would have wanted had I been at home. Her staff (I'm so sorry I can't recall names) were friendly, polite and the lady doing breakfast was a total sweetheart. We had stayed earlier in February so when we had to return sadly for a funeral it was our first choice plus it is such a lovely quiet location with free parking and was all the more beautiful for the sunshine and onset of spring. Jane and Mark had clearly been busy updating the decor which was fabulous with stunning rich curtain fabrics and cushions - each room is themed - with beautiful art featuring flora and fauna - this time I had the kingsize room with the slipper bath at the end of the landing and my mother had the same room at the top of the stairs with the walk in shower. The same fantastic service and delicious breakfast - this time I had the fruit salad and then smoked salmon with scrambled eggs! Jane is a super talented crafty lady - they had recently opened their shop at the front of the B&B - filled with the most wonderful handmade cards and notebooks plus so many unique and beautiful crafts for sale including childrens clothes and toys - plus Mark runs a picture framing business on site too! My mother and I are keen florists and were touched to be given huge bunches of curly willow tree branches - perfect for my Easter tree arrangement! Such a lovely stay with very kind and considerate hosts. We will be back.

Travelodge wouldn’t have been a bad memory except for TRIP that made it a horrible one for me , I definitely sure this would be my last dealing with them. Here is my ordeal with Travelodge and TRIP.com, on arriving the hotel I discovered the hotel has no air conditioning and it was terribly hot in London, I immediately notified the hotel of my intention to check out which they agreed to and are willing to give me a refund , unfortunately the TRIP customer service kept going round and round with the situation inorder for them to make me finish my stay at the hotel even with the fact that I complained it wasn’t comfortable, to be honest the hotel did their best to ensure I get my refund but trip messed everything up, there was practically nothing they didn’t do to make sure I didn’t check out even when someone from the hotel spoke with them about their willingness to give me a refund this is the hotel Ass. Manager ( Mrs Gosia) . I had a very terrible experience with trip and it is definitely going to be my last . I couldn’t sleep most of the night because of the terrible heat at night thanks to trip. 😞

Fabulous place to stay for a few nights great location and private access to this magnificent college. Excellent breakfast and over all great value. We will be back. Don’t expect “Normal” hotel facilities but 500 years of history and architecture knock false bonhomie from a chain hotel into a cocked hat
