Hotels near Kifune Castle, Beppu

Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. We booked the Sora western room type, which was described as having two double beds and three futon beds. However, upon arrival, I didn't see any futon beds in the room nor were they offered. In terms of service, I expected a better introduction to the rooms given the price I am paying. We received a very simple introduction to the common area, but didn't get a room tour showing where things are located, which Yukata to wear indoors and outdoors, etc. I've paid a similar price for another onsen hotel where we received a much better reception upon arrival. We did ask for breakfast in the room for more privacy, and while we were able to do that for half the price at other hotels in Fukuoka, the staff didn't seem to understand when we asked about it. Overall, the amenities and room are really good, but service-wise, it's hit or miss.

Really enjoyed this unique hotel that has a mix of art, onsen, great views and decent food. The room (419) was not luxurious but was well designed, the balcony overlooked the extraordinary landscape that is Beppu, the greatest feature was the semi open-air onsen bath facilitated by the floor to ceiling windows, connected to the generous deck space. It was fun to walk around the gallery space and admire the interesting architecture, color palettes, and exhibits championing Beppu culture, landscape, flora, fauna etc. Sitting in the Peak restaurant for dinner, I was amused that one of the waitstaff was a robot that ferried food and empty dishes back and forth. Dinner was laid-back, had a window side seat that allowed me to enjoy the city glitter below. My stay here was at a fraction of another Beppu hotel on this trip, in many ways I enjoyed this place more and would not hesitate to come back.

It was a wonderful hotel with an open-air bath in all rooms with an atmosphere like an overseas resort. There are many staff overseas, and I feel that it is not a Japanese hot spring inn. The terrace bar is also great and you can have a welcome drink at check-in. Sparkling wine etc. are served in glass, but it was a little disappointing that Oita's specialty ”Tsururanabosu” was served as a can. The room was large and I was able to spend a relaxing time. You can sit in a chair on the terrace with an ocean view and relax. The open-air bath is large (this seems to depend on the room) ２ The size of a person can afford to stretch his legs. The shower is outside and it may be cold in winter, but you can also close the windows of the open-air bath a little. The living room is large, there is a big TV and you can watch YouTube. The bedroom also has a TV. I made it French, but unfortunately it didn't suit our taste. The appetizer is served with fruits such as pears and oranges, and I basically like this kind of food, but ... Salmon marinade is not good either. The soup and fish dishes were delicious. I want you to serve more lean meat. Dessert is also cheap. It may be unavoidable because it is a basic course. The grapes juice recommended by the sommelier is also a little ... I can bring various wines in the wagon, but I wish I could show all the options normally on the menu. This grape juice was about 1,500 yen in a glass, and water was charged, so it cost a lot of drinks. If I have the next opportunity, I would like to cook Japanese food. The breakfast buffet was rich in Japanese and Western styles and was usually good. I was surprised to have sparkling wine from the morning. Another family member ordered ”Coffee 〇” despite the buffet, but I thought it was kind that the foreign staff carefully put coffee and carried it. The dinner was a pity, but the star minus １, but other than that, it is ５ full score.

Excellent service, food, view, room - oh, what could I complain about? Everything felt amazing from the moment I entered the hotel. The hotel had a no-shoe policy, and they maintained it sparkly clean. The outdoor onsen was an infinite-pool onsen that was facing the ocean, which was mesmerizing. The breakfast buffet spread catered to my every-so-picky taste buds, and the restaurant was overlooking the sunrise. Other aspects of my stay that I greatly valued was the good quality of skincare products given and the incredible service. If I had to make one complaint, that would be the slight inconvenience of getting to-and-fro the hotel by bus on public holiday (taxi to the JR station is still affordable - about 850¥). If you drive, it would be amazing.

My wife booked this hotel for us for our weekend in Beppu. We selected this hotel based on the price, parking, and location. It is within walking distance to the train station and down town area. They have parking here which is a plus. The staff was very friendly, the individual helping us spoke great English which made check in/out easy. They have breakfast here, because of COVID, it was not buffet style, but the trays were nice and the food was great. The rooms were perfect, they were modern, spacious, and had everything we needed, plus the bed was comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay here.

Amazing location, 3min walk from beppu station, 10min walk to beppu kitahama bus centre which has a direct bus to fukuoka airport. Best hotel room during my one month trip around Japan rooms with netflix available and free ramen, ice cream and yakult. Super friendly staff and can leave luggage before check-in. Make sure to try all the different onsen rooms as they have different mineral properties!

Travel with a group of friends to Beppu but only 4 of us decided to stay at Amanek for 2 nights. This was the best decision ever as we were closed to the JR station, eateries, Tokiwa shopping mall, Donki and the beach were within walking distance. Only few staff could speak English. Those who speak Japanese only also try their best to serve the guest. I am impressed by how clean and new the whole hotel is. Best of all, I love the free flow of juices & beverages. You could also do take away in the UCC coffee disposible cup. Love the choice of either western or local breakfast with free flow of side dishes. I am surprised by how big the bedroom is and spacious bathroom. The gym equipment tho basic, are new & in good condition. The onsen is clean & modern & I love the warm rooftop pool with an awesome view! Amanek is thoughtful to provide guest with a basket to hold all your onsen needs. Upon check out, I was overcharged for my 2 days of breakfast. The staff was quick to rectify the problem & refunded me on the spot. Yes, would definitely stay in Amanek again in my next visit to Beppu! Thank you for the awesome stay!

Some stains in the toilet. Hotel is not very near the station. The staff at the hotel is excellent. Overall, I will still recommend this hotel.

The location is about 7 minutes on foot from Beppu Station, and other accommodations are in the same location, so it's not a big problem. In terms of facilities, it's clean and well-maintained overall, but the disappointing thing is that the public bath is smaller than expected, and the family bath that you can use for 1,000 yen is written as 1 hour, but in reality, you can only use it for 45 minutes, which was disappointing. Dinner and breakfast were so delicious, and when I came back after eating, I was surprised to see that the bed was laid out, but it felt good to be treated well. Overall, I was satisfied. I also tried on a yukata, which was really nice.
