Joy Hotel

Amsterdam|0.82km from Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena
We chose this hotel because it was a Metro stop from the Ziggo Dome (also of AFAS and the Ajax Stadium), or a walk of around 15/20 minutes. Also it is nearby a train station that takes you to the airport. The area doesn't have a lot of interesting things (lacks restaurants and shops) and unless you need to be in this district, it is not close to the centre. It is also quite dark and lonely at night. However, it was the cheapest hotel that seemed modern/clean in this area, so we went for it. Our room was a twin, had a decent size, a desk, TV, a fridge, a kettle (but just tea available, for coffee you had to pay downstairs), a safe, enough plugs (and close to the beds) and hangers for the clothes. The toilet was quite clean and had a good shower. Also toiletries were included, towels and a hair dryer. Breakfast was 15 Euro per person, so not cheap, but at least it was a buffet, so you had lots of pastries and also bacon, eggs, sausages, cold meats, cheeses, juices, coffee, tea and a lot of different breads. You couldn't find any place for breakfast nearby anyway. Staff was nice and helpful at the reception desk, no problems. There were construction works outside that started pretty early, so I recommend bringing some earplugs. Also, there was a “weird” note at the lift that warned the customers against bringing *********** to the hotel and noting that every guest had to be identified before going upstairs. In summary, not so cheap, but cheaper than most in the area, quite clean and modern.

Very cost-effective, it is also convenient to go to Giethoorn. There are Asian restaurants, Hong Kong people, electrical stores, almost no domestic products, plug in, go to the window to remember later, at least after 6 pm, remember later, Lei Feng

Read lots of mixed and poor reviews before going but we couldn’t fault it. The hotel is impressive as you approach. Inside is modern and clean. All staff were friendly and helpful Location wise it’s a 20 minute taxi ride away from the centre but we knew that beforehand. I suggest getting a Uber or Bolt. Bolt is cheaper. A big thank you to the gentleman on Reception, the day of departure our transfer wasn’t picking us up until 6 pm, he kindly brought up a cappuccino and a heater to keep us warm (very thoughtful)

The hotel is located in Amsterdam Amstel and is connected to the Metro (Station Overamstel, approx. 6 min. by foot). So it's a great starting point to experience the city of Amsterdam. Especially wellness and gym are a nice possibility to use. The rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast is also versatile and fresh. The restaurant is not as good as expected, but still solid. The service was friendly and attentive at all times, the cocktails in the bar ”Moqum” in the lobby are also really recommendable.

Lot of good things about this hotel. Brilliant accessibility. One cannot ask for more. Hotel is right in front of the metro so accessibility to any place is not an issue. We even took an early morning train to the airport. Rooms were spacious with good air-conditioning. Room service was done everyday, but could have been better. Customer service was good and a no nonsense check in and check out. They even gave us some packed breakfast the day we had to leave at 4 am. And I must mention the breakfast was amazing with a huge spread and you can get almost everything. Overall the best place with value for money if you are in Amsterdam and central is hardly ten mins away by train.

Location is not in the heart of Amsterdam's attraction, but with the station nearby, you can go everywhere in Amsterdam
Holiday Inn Amsterdam - Arena Towers

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Arena Towers on 5 to 12 July 2022. This hotel is well placed for Airport connection (2nd stop and regular) as well as for the metro. The hotel has a basic gym' and plenty of areas to sit down and relax. The reception staff are friendly and helpful, the 2 barmen/waiters on the 1st floor restaurant/bar are by far the most efficient, friendliest and generally decent hotel staff I have come across in many years. They made the hotel extra special. I did notice the cost of the room was very high one night and found out that the Rolling Stones were playing at the nearly Ajax stadium. I would however definitely recommend the hotel and hope to return soon as, coming from the Western Isles of Scotland, there are good KLM services direct from Inverness airport. Highly recommended.
