The Boathouse Apartments

Airlie Beach|0.6km from downtown
I stayed at the Boathouse Apartments with my husband and 15 month old son after my son was quite sick on Hamilton island and unable to fly home. As there was no accommodation on Hamilton island I called up a few different places and settled on the Boathouse Apartments. I called ahead of time to see if we could check in early so my son could nap after the journey across. The reception staff were quite friendly and did try to get us in quickly however when we got to the room there was a rollaway bed instead of a cot. We left the room and came back to a cot being dumped in the apartment and not set up at all (not a big issue but also not what I’d expect paying the price for premium accommodation). The following morning I received a text that they had to do maintenance in our apartment for roughly 2 hours (I was never advised of this even though I called twice, told them I had a sick child and booked over the phone). We had staff knock on the door twice throughout the day to see when they could do it. First when we had a screaming child we were trying to give antibiotics too and secondly when we were trying to get him down for a nap (again when he was very distressed). We ended up having to leave and sit in a room after an unsuccessful nap with a toddler who had a high fever, ear infection and a rash. I’d also been trying to book a Telehealth appointment to have my son assessed but this was made difficult due to the fact we had to leave the room. One of the reasons I booked was due to the washer/dryer, we had no clothes left so I did a wash upon arrival. I ran the dryer multiple times that evening and kept finding sopping wet clothes at the end of every cycle which was really frustrating. On the following day we asked about the dryer and were advised that they don’t work very well and that the only apartments that had dryers were occupied. Because of this we were forced to wear the same clothes for 3 days straight. Not great for a messy/sick toddler.. We eventually were able to get our clothes dried and received them around 5pm the night before checking out. While I do appreciate the staff for doing so, it wasn’t very helpful at that point. The whole experience was really awful. Travelling with a sick child is hard enough let alone having that added stress. I am pretty annoyed that no one advised us of the works needing to occur during our stay and the fact that a dryer is falsely advertised. I never would have booked if I had known either of these things ahead of time and I feel fairly ripped off for the money we paid given it wasn’t exactly for a holiday..

Magnums Airlie Beach – Adults only

Magnums Airlie Beach – Adults only

Airlie Beach|0.13km from downtown
Magnums has been the backpacker hangout in Airlie Beach for thirty years. A great open pub (Beer Garden) facing the street, live music every day, a wide, typically Australian range of drinks at the bar. Airlie Beach has long since ceased to be a pure backpacker destination. Hotels, shopping streets and arcades, many new restaurants, bars and pubs have turned Airlie Beach into a small ”city”. The Magnums is really right in the middle, from here everything is easily accessible on foot. Thanks to the Magnums, the backpacker groove hasn't completely disappeared. Magnums offers accommodation in many varieties! In addition to double rooms with shared bathrooms, I would particularly like to mention the cabin we booked with a ensuite bathroom, toilet. AC and a fridge. The cabins are spacious, almost 30 square meters, have a small terrace and are distributed in the small ”palm jungle” in which all accommodations of the Magnum are hidden. A large kitchen complex is available for the residents of the Magnum (adults only!), which is equipped with everything (cooking stoves, toaster, refrigerators, dining areas, etc.). Dining tables are in front of the kitchen complex and others are scattered throughout the complex. Barbecue areas with dining tables are also distributed throughout the complex. It is charming that there is always a bench or a hammock hidden under the palm trees, where the guests can retreat with a book or the cellphone (the whole complex is very well connected with WiFi). Anyone who can do without the luxury of a five-star facility will be very happy at Magnums. The extremely friendly staff at reception, at the bar and in room service (every 4 days for longer stays) cannot be praised enough. We were looked after excellently and comfortably at reception by Maria. She answered all of our questions, made the bookings for our excursions, ordered the shuttle bus to the airport when we left and fulfilled our every wish during our 14-day stay. A big compliment to her in particular! Rundum alles Super! Magnums bietet Unterkünfte in vielen Varianten an!

Nomads Airlie Beach

The room is large, with separate bathroom, separate shower, kitchen, cloakroom. It is not very neat and clean. At the end of August, there was a sheet on the bed. It was too cold. I woke up at 4 o'clock and found that there was a small blanket in the cloakroom. It was too small and about the same size as today. It was covered with two bath towels. The best is the location, shopping around various bars, BWS, Woolworth walk3-5 minutes away. Airport shuttle is also very convenient.

The room is clean, the central commercial center is downstairs, and it is close to the sea pier.

The service is good, the pool is super beautiful, and there is a hill upstairs in the room. The first time someone took the luggage, someone brought it up.

This is the longest hotel to stay in Australia. The hotel has a very B&B style, a lot of rooms and facilities. Checkin was two days late, the hotel's aunt did not say anything, but also let us have fun. The hotel has its own small infinity pool that just solves the problem of the Airlie Beach lagoon and pool maintenance. It should be noted that there are two uphill slopes to the hotel, which must be good for young people with good physical strength. If there is an elderly person, it is recommended to rent or about the car. The hotel is very cost-effective at Airlie Beach, with a great view on the hillside. It is a 10-minute walk from the Woolworth supermarket below. It is very suitable to buy food and cook. It is especially recommended to have a car family.
Mango House Resort

I booked at short notice and just managed to get an apartment. Family emergency! I was in Airlie on ” family business' and so appreciated meeting Pam (the owner?) and settling in quickly. I have always love the Mango House. It has such a positive, special ”tropical vibe” I've eyed off for the past 16 yrs on my countless visits there. My apartment was clean, comfortable and over-looked the pool. As a solo woman traveller, I loved it. It was very calming. Felt safe, accessible & quiet accommodation. Perfect for me.! Comfortable! I was confidently left to myself to ”get on with the business” !! It may not suit Sheraton Hotels 5 star travellers...nor those who want a butler!! However, being ex Sydney and appreciating the ”good things in life” it was perfect for me!!! Close enough to Airlie shops, good restaurants, beautiful walks.....really amazing!!! I'll be back as soon as I can!!!
