Höfn Hostel

We spent just one night but we loved the accommodation. As a family of 3 we booked a private room with a private bathroom and loved the space. The hostel itself is very clean and in a residential neighbourhood. Everyone who was staying was very nice and the communal kitchen was easily accessible to everyone. We walked to the town and that was very doable. The town is quiet but there are a number of things to see in the area. We really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend it.

Good position to stop, from diamond beach to Reykjavík. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds and room are good. Breakfast (incl dining room) and Dinner are quite basic and no alternatives nearby. If it’s on the right spot on your trip, take it, if you have alternatives, this is not a “must” on your trip.

It is Perfect hotel for traveller who are on road bewteen Reykjavik & Vik, even if going to Skatafell. It is located on calm and peaceful position and gave me very comfortable mood who are tired. More amazing is, their good restrarurant.!!!!! In the morning, serve free breakfast. It is already good. But in the evening, you can enjoy fastastic buffet with acceptable price. And they gave me very kind service with real smile. There are small road to reach lake by 5~10 min walking. When I walked, a lovely dog from hotel follows me and to try excising with him. It also one of very happy expereince. Lake sightseeing is also very good. If someone asks me to stay again, ”Sure. Absolutely.”

Absolutely amazing our stay at this hotel. After 2 rough nights in others hotels this was a cherry on the top. It was my husband and I anniversary so we decided to booked this hotel to chill and enjoy our time. Staff were nice at the lobby, hotel comes with free parking, lobby was very nice and stylish, room were spacious and super modern, free buffet style breakfast A+++ and for 30 dollars extra you could use the sauna, steam and massage facility. Hotel its in downtown selfoss so everything was nearby and it's such a cute little town. I definitely recommend this hotel worth the extra money.

Nice hotel property in beautiful little Vik. A very welcoming and pleasant staff greeted us. We chatted with the check in person plus bartender and both were easy to talk to and shared their experience of living in Iceland. The room was reasonably priced, comfortable and just right for our one night in town. The restaurant is situated so diners have a nice Mountain and church view, plus the food was very good. Breakfast buffet was way above average and included in the price. Our only regret was our lack of time we could spend in Vik, so many places, so little time.
Hörgsland Guesthouse

We were a family of 8 - three adults stayed in one cabin and the family of 5 (with 3 children 10-15 years), in another. The cabins were convenient because they had enough sleeping areas for everyone and had kitchens so we didn't have to eat out for every meal. Food in Iceland is extremely expensive!! Things that could be improved - reception/office hours weren't convenient given that the guesthouse is a bit of a distance from the important tourist sites in the area so we tended to leave before the office was open or return after it had closed. One cabin had an issue with the faucet in the shower not being clearly marked and thus it was challenging to get anything other than scalding water - but it wasn't until nearly the last day that we were able to get to the office to ask for help. The curtains are symbolic at best - during the summer you'll need eye masks since it never gets dark. One of the cabins had a mirror in the 'living room' which was very convenient so we didn't all need to use the bathroom mirror when trying to get ready for the day. It would be great if this was standard in all the cabins. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this guesthouse to others.
Brú Guesthouse

We enjoyed our one night stay at Bru Guesthouse in late December. The individual cottages are a great idea, and great way to have privacy. They are relatively small, just like they look in the pictures. A few km off the ring road on good gravel roads. No problem to get to. Self-check in anytime (key in lockbox). It is so remote (away from city, away from road), it would be a great spot to see the Northern Lights...if it wasn’t cloudy. Great heat. Limited hot water, but the 3 of us had no problem (we split up showers between mornings and evenings and took relatively fast showers...as would be true of most Icelandic accommodations outside Reykjavík). This was the most expensive place we stayed on our 10 day Iceland trip, but not tremendously more. Iceland is expensive throughout.

Well…..we are on a 8 day tour of Iceland. Weather forced our guide to find us a room where we weren’t expecting to be. He found us a room at Adventure Hotel. So, we don’t know the cost to compare prices. The room was very large. Larger than any others on our trip. Clean and had hot water. Both very important. We had a room in the main building that could have slept 3. Plenty of storage space. Rustic and simple. Breakfast was toast, OJ, danish, cereal, ham and cheese. Definitely a continental breakfast. No hot food, which is ok. We were ok with this replacement property.

Great location and nice view from our king room with river view. Bed was comfy and room was very clean. Desk personnel were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can't comment on the value, as it was part of a package tour as prices were not broken out of total, but we would definitely stay there again. We had prepaid for breakfast, which was excellent, but we did not otherwise dine at the hotel restaurant, so can't comment on that.

A large number of hotels, although most of the rooms are public toilets, but the bathrooms are in very good condition and there are compartments in the rain. Hot water has a water-burning machine at the front desk, you can pick up, you can also instant noodles, the hotel can also order, the price is moderate for Icelandic prices. It takes an hour to drive from Vic. It is a resting place on the glacier, and it takes an hour to reach the glacial lake.
