The hotel is located on a mountain. In late April, the cherry blossoms at the foot of the mountain were in full bloom, but there was still some snow around the hotel. Lake Tazawa in spring, especially on a sunny day, is absolutely stunning; the water is a deep blue, just like the sea. We had great weather during our stay. Every morning after breakfast, we'd take the hotel's shuttle bus to Tazawa-ko Station to catch the Komachi Shinkansen to Kakunodate, Akita, and Morioka to see the cherry blossoms. In the afternoons, we'd take the Shinkansen back to Tazawa-ko Station, then the shuttle back to the hotel for dinner and a hot spring bath. The hotel service was excellent, and considering the price, the food was quite good too!
From Tazawa Lake Station transfer bus, the hotel is near the bus station, less than three minutes walk, nearby also bike rental, you can cycle along Tazawa Lake for a week, you can also take a bus to the nearby pizza shop, we booked a two-stay, very exquisite and delicious food, and private bath available for reservation
I didn’t have good experience the last few times that I stayed in other hotels of Dormy Inn group in other Japan cities. I was afraid that I might get the same experience like last few times, if yes, it maybe the last time I stayed in Dormy Inn hotels. Not to mention the other hotel groups offer better service that I have experienced. Luckily, this stay was pleasant. Most staff were friendly with attentive service. Onsen was always the highlight. The only drawback was the the onsen was often crowded. The room was clean. The location was fine, 7 mins’ walk. Convenience store nearby.
The five-person room was a little cramped, but although the room was a bit old, it was very clean.
Dinner and breakfast were both buffet style; the selection wasn't extensive, but the ingredients were fresh and tasty.
There was a free drink bar and popsicles outside the large public bath, and inside the bath, there were children's toys for soaking, which is rare in Japanese hot springs.
Overall, if you plan to visit nearby attractions, it's a great accommodation choice.
This elegant hot spring inn is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, offering a truly tranquil experience. The thoughtful arrangement of two meals per night is a welcome touch; dinner features exquisite and delicious dishes made with fresh local ingredients, while breakfast provides a balanced and nutritious start to the day. The various hot spring pools, both indoors and outdoors, offer soothing and relaxing waters that wash away fatigue. The friendly and attentive staff further enhances the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, this is a highly recommended retreat that offers both relaxation and delicious cuisine.
The people at the inn were very friendly and it was a very comfortable inn. I thought the food in Tohoku would be strong, but it was delicious with a refined flavor.
My husband and I stayed in a twin room, and the bed was big, the room was spacious and bright, and there was a large public bath in the hotel, so it was comfortable. There was a convenience store right in front of the hotel, so it was very convenient and good value for money. If I come here again, I would like to stay here again.
It is an old building that is not auto lock, but it is a clean and clean hotel.
Dinner was delicious with many kinds of side dishes. The amount is not large, but I'm not eating much, so it was just right.
The breakfast buffet was more variety and more full than dinner.
About 30 minutes by car to Lake Towada.
Compared to the lakeside hotel, the cospa is good.
All the employees were friendly and enjoyed. I was surprised at the deliciousness of the rice in the morning and evening, and I was impressed with the Akita rice.
I think he's good at cooking. However, I thought it would be best if the location of the inn was along the street and there was a little more mountain side or greenery.
I wanted to stay again.

Amazing
GGuest UserHighly recommended! The hotel's service begins before check-in, with a detailed check-in process email. In winter, they even arrange luggage cart service, making it convenient whether you're driving or using public transportation. Both meals during my stay were amazing. The hotel was renovated in 2025, and its facilities and services are top-notch in the area.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located near the bus station and has convenient transportation. It is clean and the food is delicious. The boss is very hospitable. Because I don’t speak Japanese, the boss patiently used his mobile phone to translate Japanese into Chinese to communicate with me because I had to catch a flight and the kitchen was ready early. I prepared breakfast. After checking out, the boss told me in translated words that the road outside was slippery in the snow and I had to be careful. It made me feel warm.
GGuest UserThe hotel is really far from the city. It takes 1 hour to transfer to the Shinkansen from Tokyo to take another hour to bus, but the scenery is really beautiful and very quiet, but a bed bug was encountered in the bedding at night, and I was shocked, but the hotel posted a statement that there will be bugs due to the natural environment. It is also harmless. The buffet is very exquisite, with Akita local characteristics, delicious and delicious. The open-air hot springs are also very comfortable, I like it very much, it is worth a visit. The only regret is that in the snow season, the Tangyu Valley was covered by heavy snow and could not be hiking.

YYINFirst of all, I booked this hot spring hotel on Saturday and it cost me 33,600 yuan. I thought I could live in a big room, but everything became a mess after two sleeping mats were laid out at dinner time. We couldn't open our luggage because there was no place, and we had to jump to go to the bathroom because there was no way to go. I was really angry. I booked this hotel because it is a LA VISTA group, but the food, both the ingredients and the taste are worth the price. There are also many snacks, water, Yakult, and fresh milk in the lounge after the hot spring, but there is no juice. This is what I find strange. In addition, we often pass by the counter, and the waiters treat you as air. Anyway, the way of this hotel is to come and go. Just now we checked out and put on our shoes, and they turned around when we said byebye, and didn't even come to the door. Am I really expecting too much?
GGuest UserThis place is extraordinarily overpriced for what it is. I expected much more amenities and service.
Although the staff were friendly and courteous, the place was fairly bland. The onsen was mediocre and there were no refreshments afterwards unless you wanted to go to a vending machine. Even Dormy Inn provides refreshments after the onsen but at Towado Hotel having to pay for them and not even the nice ones is ridiculous when you have to pay so much to stay here. The same for the relaxation chair. It is coin-operated not complementary.
I would not recommend staying here if you’re looking for a luxury experience because although you pay for that, it’s definitely nowhere near that. Our Western style room was very basic, and it just didn’t have those special finishing touches I had hoped for.
GGuest UserIt's a very typical Japanese hot spring hotel, old but comfortable. The airport transfer service, hot springs, breakfast and dinner were all perfect. We walked along the mountain road to the seaside. The scenery was so beautiful that it cannot be described in words.
What was particularly great was that during dinner, the auntie saw that we liked the paper towels under the plates and very thoughtfully rolled new ones for us. It was so heart-warming despite the language barrier. It was the best experience of this trip. . It's a pity that I don't know her name. I hope I can say thank you to her.
I will go again in the summer if I have the chance!
AAlbert Alexandre AlexisAs luxurious as one can expect. Beautiful place in a secluded natural environment with lavish service and delicious food. The bath are very well prepared and the staff is extremely kind and attentive.
It is a hard ask but it would be nice to have some western options at breakfast. But of course this is a Japanese traditional inn yet these options would feel even more luxurious.
Some of the decoration feels a bit either dated, kitsch or not being harmonious, I think they need a redesign of the furnitures are it looks more like an assemblage than a harmonious selection of decoration and furnitures. It’s a little on the weird side even sometimes!
But the bedding is exceptional. You will have a great sleep at this stay!
