Taiyuan is the largest city and capital of the Shanxi region in China. It is located in the center of Shanxi with Fen River flowing through the city. It is one of the main manufacturing hubs in China. It is an ancient city with 2500 years of history that dates back to almost 497 B.C. Taiyuan Wusu International Airport is the main airport catering Taiyuan in Shanxi province of China. It is the largest airport in Sanxi province and is capable of serving almost 6 million passengers a year.  Since at present there are no direct flights to Taiyuan from Singapore you will have to book one of the connecting Singapore to Taiyuan flight. The other notable place to visit are Yingze Park and Tianlongshan Grottoes.

Tip: If you enjoy folk music then you can visit during Shanxi Taiyuan International Folk Art Festival that happens every 2 years.
