ayanamisloverA unique experience — absolutely worth doing once, but think twice about the long hike
Glacier Lodge Eqi is genuinely a very special place, and I’m glad I stayed here for one night.
The biggest reason to stay overnight is the glacier itself. Watching Eqi in the evening light and again early in the morning was absolutely stunning. You can sit in front of the glacier for hours, hear the incredibly loud cracking and calving sounds, and occasionally watch pieces of ice fall into the water. Even relatively small pieces of ice can make an unbelievable amount of noise. The sunset and early-morning views alone made the overnight stay memorable.
I stayed in one of the renovated glamping tents. For anyone wondering about the facilities in 2026: the tent did have electricity, power sockets and an air-conditioning/heating unit, so the information shown on Trip was correct. This was very useful for charging cameras, phones and power banks. The heating struggled somewhat later at night, but overall the tent itself was perfectly fine for a remote location like this.
The biggest issue during my stay was the insects. There were an unbelievable number of tiny flying insects, especially when the wind dropped. At times there were literally hundreds flying around me. A mosquito/head net was essential. If you are particularly sensitive to insects, I would seriously consider avoiding the main summer insect season, roughly June to September, or at least come very well prepared with a head net, gloves and appropriate clothing.
My strongest advice, however, is about the long hike above the glacier.
Unless you genuinely enjoy hiking for its own sake, I would personally skip it.
I spent more than five hours doing the hike. It was physically exhausting, and the final few kilometres were particularly tiring. The view from the higher ground is certainly nice and gives you a broader perspective of the glacier, but in my opinion it is not dramatically better than the views you already get from the lodge area. After five hours of walking, my reaction at the top was essentially: “Is that it?”
Do not feel that you have to do the hike simply because it is included/free. The real highlight of Eqi is being able to stay beside the glacier through the evening and morning, not exhausting yourself trying to reach a slightly higher viewpoint. If photography is your main goal, a drone — where legally permitted and safely operated — would probably provide a much more interesting elevated perspective with considerably less effort.
So overall:
The location and glacier experience are fantastic.
The sunset and morning views are genuinely exceptional.
Staying overnight is worth considering, especially for a first visit.
Bring serious protection against insects in summer.
And unless you love hiking, skip the long hike and spend those hours simply enjoying the glacier instead.
I would happily recommend Eqi as a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience. If I came back again, though, I would spend my time relaxing in front of the glacier rather than doing another five-hour hike.

Travelling is an eye opener. I came across the worst rudest Front Desk person , Heidi. I booked a Seaview Executive Room, but was given one with a view of a broken hut on some stones. Heidi at the Front Desk said , ” You booked through *******, so we cannot change for you.”. I said ,” I paid extra to have a seaview room snd it is printed out on my voucher. .” ... Heidi said ” ******* made a mistake, our hotel is full, we cannot change room for you”.I said I need to take photo of your name plate to complain against you” . Heidi said , ”It is against the law here for you to take a photo of me, I will call the Police” ...She stormed into the manager's room. Her manager, Renee, was more reasonable. We were offered a seaview room in the end. I hope that this very bad experience was not because I am asian.
The rooftop restaurant is good because of it staff, its view. I should have taken photo of the 'broken hut view' room.

Great to stay several nights, the room was cozy enough for staying alone and the breakfast was good enough. See View with iceberg was just fascinating. Free transit service from and to airport was great service provided (one way trip by taxi from airport is about 150dkk)

The hotel is beautiful; the apartments are newly built, newer than the main building.
There's a free shuttle bus to and from the airport.
The location isn't in the city center; getting there requires a taxi (about 80 RMB one way) or a 30-minute walk (the ground can be slippery in winter).
The breakfast is plentiful, but the restaurant's dinner food is average.
The indoor heating is excellent, and the price is good.

I had a very pleasant five-day vacation in SOMA. The hotel was very clean and I could see the glacier in the distance from the room. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to the town. The landlord is a person with rich experience and has lived in many countries. She was very hospitable and provided us with a lot of tourist information and airport drop-off service. It was a great experience!

Greenland has not many choices, it is very cost-effective to book this, stay in an apartment
Can sleep five people in an extra bed, the space is very large, the kitchen appliances have everything and the washing machine
What time is not satisfied, the check-in time has been telling us that we are cleaning the room, not how long it will take.
We waited on the first floor, waited for more than an hour and said it was still cleaning but we could go to the room and see
But didn't say where the room was at all. We didn't have a key? I continued to ask and said that the key was on the cleaning person, but where did we live? I told us at this time.
The apartment is located on the second floor and takes about fifteen steps to climb the stairs, but this road is full of big stone suitcases that will rot.

Located in the northern part of Greenland, you’ll find this little gem, with the most wonderful and warm atmosphere ever experienced. The hospitality of the hosts is world class, and they’ll make you feel home in an instant. The little cafeteria is the definition of coziness, with its wooden interior and live fireplace, this is a place you won’t find nowhere else. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay!
