The rooms have basic furnishings, making this hotel suitable for travelers looking for an overnight stay. The bathroom facilities are reasonably clean, and the hotel's location is excellent, directly facing Whitby Abbey. This is my second time staying here, and it still offers good value for money. Parking in the backyard seems to be around £5-6 per night.
Stayed a few times at the Grand Hotel Scarborough, it is situated within a few minutes walk to the town for the shops and eateries also a 5 min walk from the train station.
The seafront, beach, arcades etc is either a tram ride away, a walk down steps or a stroll down through the town.
Our room was a double, but was 2 singles beds pushed together, the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable, only one pillow each, we could've requested more from reception but normally these are usually found in wardrobe or on shelving in other hotels.
The view was OK overlooking the carpark to the front.
There was a small fridge which was on the floor by the dresser, very odd not on a surface like on drawers. A hairdryer, flat screen tv with no ITV, ironing board, kettle, cups coffee tea, bath towels etc were provided .
The Bathroom was a bit odd with the shower screen attached past the safety grab rail so water splashed onto the floor, the toilet was also slanted towards the bath.
Room was warm enough, a fan was in the wardrobe as no aircon but didnt use it, we had frequent visits from the local seagulls on our windowsill.
This hotel is OK, it's very dated with brown furnishings and the rooms/ skirting boards need a deep clean and refreshing.
Cannot comment on food, entertainment or bar as we didn't partake in these.
The service is very good, not far from the station beach and supermarket. The breakfast in the hotel is normal, but the extra lunch and afternoon tea are worth the price. The sea view outside the hotel is beautiful. The room I lived in did not have drinking water and a hair dryer. Drinking water can be requested from the counter, but not a hair dryer.
The location is great . The hotel was clean and pleasant. The only fault I had was coming back after the concert( which I think most of the hotel had) the poor bar lady was struggling to serve everyone . Also stock up on your nibbles . As they ran out as well . Be mindful if you’re not very mobile , as the left is retro . And if the residents don’t close the inner door then it is then disabled . That’s not the hotels fault , but it does mean you have to use the stairs . The breakfast was good . The staff were very helpful and friendly .
The environment looks average. The room is indeed relatively small for Chinese people. It is not suitable for two people to live together. At the beginning of the hotel reservation, there was no prompt to choose a room. In the end, I was allocated a room with a very bad view. I think it is in the UK. It is said that the price is good, but if you want to live in a more luxurious hotel, you should pay more
The room was satisfactory— not too big, but certainly larger than those found in chain hotels. The location was lovely; however, the standard room we received had a view of the parking lot. Due to the wooden floors, we were able to hear other guests walking around quite easily. The sauna and steam facilities were enjoyable, but it would have been great to have a bit more menthol or some options to help eliminate the smell of sweat. Thank you for your attention to these details.
The hotel is well situated for shopping and out for drinks and food and access to the seafront. We had a room on the fourth floor which was spacious and clean albeit could do with decor upgrade here and there.
Unfortunately the carpeted corridors on the way to the room by needed a really good hoover and just a general tidy up. Staff though were pleasant and helpful and the self serve breakfast was good.

KKaren NgJust a leisurely ten-minute stroll from Whitby's beautiful beach, a truly welcoming and comfortable experience. From the moment you arrive, the friendly atmosphere is palpable, making you feel right at home. Owner are happy to accommodate your needs, ensuring you kick off your day just the way you like.
Cosy room with delightful view. Overall, this hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Whitby. Its location, combined with genuinely warm hospitality and comfortable rooms, makes for a memorable stay.
GGuest UserBeautiful spot, however upon getting to my room the one of the lights wasn’t working, The toilet brush was disgusting with toilet roll all over it. There was a hole in the floor in The bathroom and it didn’t look clean at all.
However the hotel its self was lovely, with gorgeous views over the sea, friendly staff and the food was brilliant!
LLclimHad a fab stay at Mansion house which is right across the esplanade . The beds are comfortable and toilet is clean and sparkly. Breakfast is well presented and full English breakfast is served elegantly. Will definitely stay again whenever I visit Scarborough
AAnonymous Userthe room and facility is a bit old, so the hygiene might not be as good as imagined. however, the staff are kind, and the lights of the room will create a warm atmosphere and thus fill in the old shortcomings of the house. great experience these days!
