Singapore, the Great Port City. Usually I will be 
starting my route from National Museum as I alight at Dhoby Ghaut station. However this year we started from Funan, and thus visited the Armenian street side first, we saw the Children’s museum and the mini festival village, with small performance going on. 

The Peranakan Museum that was previously close for renovations has also reopened!

We felt that the night festival was a little smaller than usual despite borders being reopened, no complains though, because its free!

Now the musuem features 9 different galleries, where it took almost 4 long years for the complete make over where it now features many new exhibits where some of the items are also on loan so as to be able to spread knowledge on the pernanakan culture not only in singapore but also around the world as well.

#cherryblossom2024 During the perankan households in the past , they have used quality woods with great workmanship to build up all the furniture. You can take a walk at the museum to see how concrete and strong each of their furniture is. The excellent design and the sophisticated colourful design brings out the life of the furniture. It is truly a very unique art piece . You will definitely be surprised how solid they are. You can visit the museum to come and see them for yourself. Do note the opening hours of the museum.

#cherryblossom2024 Here at the perankan museum, you will get to find out more about the porcelain art piece that was related to the perankan people. You get to see the transformation from the past till present .The sophisticated and meticulous design of each porcelain bowl, brings out the patience and tolerance of their culture. They are very unique and each of them stands out from the rest. They are indeed very beautiful and nice to keep at home. You can imagine yourself using those beautiful porcelain during the past days in the perankan family households .

#cherryblossom2024 I paid six bucks to enter the museum to view the fukusa exhibition gallery .It is a one time event that will be at the museum for the next few months. Here, at the fukusa exhibition gallery, I get to know more about the fukusa embroidery and how it differs from time to time. Also, for the various timing and occasions, how are they being used. The sophisticated and meticulously art pieces, are definitely a must visit place. You can get to know more about Japanese culture and traditions there too. Be sure to check them out at the perankan museum.

#singaporetrip Really beautiful place and absolutely fascinating. I knew a little bit before I went, but it turns out, of course, that I knew hardly anything. Really beautifully curated. We loved the video on the ground floor with the people talking about their experiences and their life. Two small things - the video next to the jewellery and embroidery (with Raymond Wong) needs to have subtitles please. Couldn't hear what they were saying. And I do think it needs a bigger more expansive shop. I would have loved to buy a magnet or keyring with the batik designs or pictures of the embroidery. Or t shirts or jewellery or literally anything. The shop there is v classy and expensive and doesn't sell a huge amount suitable for a tourist like me. They are my only suggestions, otherwise I think this place is a must-visit when you're in Singapore if you're interested in the multiculturalism and social history of it

With three floors and ten galleries, the museum showcases various aspects of Peranakan culture and is well worth a visit👍👍👍. 📷📷📷📷 Besides the exhibits, the architecture of the museum itself is also a major highlight. It was originally the Tao Nan School, built in the style of a colonial bungalow in 1912 during the Straits Settlements period, a true century-old ancient building and one of Singapore's national monuments. There's even a cute sculpture of a lucky museum cat at the entrance. Visited on June 12, 2016
