Wuliang Palace

After the completion of the bedroom palace of the Zhai Palace in the eight years of Qing Qianlong (1743 AD), the unbeamed palace of the Zhai Palace became a place where the emperor met his cabinet and officials. In addition to the Zhai Palace of the Temple of Heaven, this special architectural form of the no-liang Palace only has the wisdom sea of the Summer Palace, the historical palace of the Forbidden City, and the Linggu Temple of Nanjing.

There is a large hall in the middle of the palace. Because there are no pillars and no cross beams, it is made of masonry and stone from top to bottom, so it is called the no beam hall. In the Ming and early Qing periods, the no beam hall was always the residence of the emperor when he fasted.

The temple is the main hall of the Zhai Palace, built in the 18th year of Ming Yongle (1420). The temple is named for its brick arch bearing and does not need Liang Yu. The emperors enter and exit the palace to hold the rituals here. The temple is now displayed according to the original appearance of Qianlong period, and the cross-head "Qin Ruo Tian" is the Qianlong royal pen, and the screen and throne are original objects, which are very precious.

The word "wisdom sea" is a Buddhist term, originally intended to praise the wisdom of the Buddha like the sea, the Buddha's law is boundless. Although the building is very like a wooden structure, there is actually no wood, all made of stone brick coupons, no load bearing, so it is called "no beam temple". Because the temple is dedicated to the infinite life Buddha, it is also called the "no-quantity temple".

The largest palace in the Temple of Heaven, the whole hall is built without wooden beams, with brick load, is the main place of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to sacrifice the heavens, the temple's cross "Qin Ruotian" is the Qianlong emperor's own pen.
