Kyoto | A lesser-known artistic travel route that 99% of people don't know about
Having lived in Kyoto for over three years
My favorite is this off-the-beaten-path citywalk artistic route
One can spend a whole day here alone
Recommended Route
Nanzen-ji Temple ➡️ Lake Biwa Canal ➡️ Blue Bottle Coffee ➡️ Heian Shrine ➡️ Kyoto City Kyocera Museum (Kyoto Art Museum) ➡️ Tsutaya Bookstore ➡️ Kyoto Prefectural Library ➡️ The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto
⛩️🎨☕️🎫
Filled with artistic atmosphere, encompassing all traditional cultural assets, highly recommended

1⃣️ Nanzen-ji Temple
Apart from Kiyomizu-dera, this is the temple I recommend the most in Kyoto. It's a bit out of the way, but less crowded, and the photos are incredibly beautiful. The autumn leaves and summer green maple are also gorgeous, it's just a bit bare in winter
2⃣️ Lake Biwa Canal
An old canal project, the red bricks are super suitable for taking Taisho-era kimono photos, especially those with lace edges
3⃣️ Blue Bottle Coffee
The Blue Bottle Coffee at the entrance of Nanzen-ji is an old internet sensation, with menus in both Japanese and English. The staff speak English well, making for barrier-free communication, perfect for a drink after visiting Nanzen-ji
4⃣️ Heian Shrine
Take a photo with the super-sized torii gate ⛩️ + the inner garden is also huge, often used for wedding photos, suitable for spring (cherry blossoms) and winter (plum blossoms)
5⃣️ Kyoto City Kyocera Museum (Kyoto Art Museum)
The Kyocera Museum's exhibitions are always beautiful, and the museum building itself is a cultural asset. The interior is all white, making for superb photos, and it also has a Japanese garden, a perfect combination of modern and traditional❗️
6⃣️ Tsutaya Bookstore
With a coffee shop and restaurant, it's a great place to dine when tired
7⃣️ Kyoto Prefectural Library
The building is also a cultural asset, with a rich collection of books for those in need
8⃣️ The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto
A place people go to see exhibitions, with a new exhibition by Masakazu Kobayashi starting on 1.6, worth checking out if you're there at that time
Additionally, Kyoto Yamamoto Leather Craft Store (I love leather goods, the quality is superb) and the Kyoto Museum of Photography are also worth a visit

This route includes art museums, libraries, temples, shrines, coffee shops, restaurants, and almost all the buildings themselves are cultural assets. You'll really regret it if you don't go
🔔 Finally, if you think this post is good, don't forget to like and save
The three gates are not a separate attraction 😂 The view and mood are very wide. If time allows, you can find a corner in a daze. If you are walking around and watching the flowers, it is not worth spending tickets.
That is my favorite Buddhist temple in Kyoto. It situated in the Higashiyama ku which has another temples near there like Ginkaku ji. I like the main temple and the arches near there, also you can enter to Japanese garden with stones and trees which also really deserves to see to have the real spirit of Japanese temples. love it!
The sun in the afternoon in Kyoto on May 3 was so good. We ate a belly of carbs, cakes, and Udon. We couldn't support it, so we went to Nanchan Temple. No one. Every courtyard and every cockroach can be booked. When we are greedy, we will leave a few more and spend a lot of ticket money. I counted the money in the bag and said that Nanchan did not have four hundred and eighty temples. Friends: "It is four hundred and eighty temples in the south. "Your joke is too cold to go to the sun." It is to visit the attractions, in fact, every yard rain and dew is wet to sit on the ground, find a place to sunbathe. In the evening we moved to the corridor of the Golden Land Courtyard, behind the spring mountain, shining with the sun, and shaking our eyes. The bread, cake, and udon in our stomachs were now transformed into sleepiness. I was sleepy on the railing, my friend went too far, she had become an orange cat in the hallway.
beautiful place..
[Kyoto Nanchan Temple] In the afternoon in Kyoto, come to Nanchan Temple for a leisurely walk. Although the cherry blossoms are still early, the green eyes are enough to relax and refresh, the hydrophobic water of Wuhu flows through, the courtyard is quiet and beautiful, and the six bridges are full of paces. Think carefully and think about it. Will the decisive question suddenly open up?
Cherry blossom season or red leaf season is better. Nanchan Temple is located in Dongshan, the base of Kyoto Zen Buddhism, and its position is higher than Kyoto Wushan. The terrain is open, and its three gates are known as the most beautiful in Kyoto. In addition, there is a Western-style brick and stone waterway pavilion built during the Meiji period in the deep of the Zen Temple. The three pavilions charged only go into the South Zen Temple, which is quiet and mysterious.
