ППолина Махонина: This is the best hotel on Thulusdhoo Island. Moreover, it is a hotel, not a guesthouse. 4 floors and at the very top there is a pool with sun loungers. It is open from 07:00 to 19:00 and you can order drinks there. There is also a spa and gym upstairs with ocean views. We liked the room, all the toiletries were there (brush and toothpaste and body cream). Water, coffee, tea were replenished if necessary. There was a kettle and dishes too. We were at full capacity at the hotel, and therefore in the evenings, when everyone was in the room, the video on Wi-Fi was a little slow to watch, but the messengers always worked properly. The rest of the time everything is ok. Breakfast is delicious from 07.30 to 09.30. 2 types of pastries, jam, butter, fruit were always there, the cook fried an omelet for us, sausages, cheese, curry, waffles, Roshi cotta, beans, chickpeas, vegetables, mushrooms, bacon...No limits. The bar makes good juices and cocktails. In the evenings there is some type of animation - games, karaoke, or watching a movie. There are excursions and transfers. They pick you up from the pier and take you to the speedboat departure point. Bikini Beach is a 2-minute walk away, there are sun loungers there, and you are given beach towels. Bikini Beach is small, but there is also Dream Beach - 29 minutes on foot, or the hotel will take/pick you up there on schedule 3 times a day. We are glad that we spent 5 nights at this hotel and thank the hotel staff for the good service.

GGuest User: I stayed with my wife for 4 days in this guest house. The structure is located on the beach with a small private beach, seeing it from the outside it is very pretty. I booked with half board, the breakfast was good and plentiful and the dinner was very good prepared by the chef Musa. Unfortunately, the room assigned to us on the ground floor was nothing ..... with always cold water and a bad smell of sulfur in addition, the room stank because there was mold in the curtain of the small window which is not really good for health. At our check out we weren't really considered, perhaps because I left a too meager tip since we always had lunch in the structure but out of 4 orders I got them wrong twice even though I still ate the wrong dish. Too bad, it could be done much much better.....

Maldives is literally a dream come true for water lovers! If you’re obsessed with snorkeling, diving, or just soaking up that crystal-clear ocean vibe, this place is next-level epic. 🌊🤩 Here’s the tea for budget travelers: the most affordable islands to stay on are Dhiffushi and Thulusdhoo. These spots are perfect if you want that tropical paradise experience without breaking the bank! Pro tip: skip the online pre-booking madness—just hop over to these islands, stroll around, and pop into different hotels to ask about room rates. Sometimes, you’ll snag crazy good deals by negotiating in person. 🤫✨ Another wallet-friendly hack? Eat at local cafés! The food is sooo good (seriously, you have to try mas huni for breakfast), and the prices are way cheaper than at touristy resorts. Dhiffushi Island – Kaafu Atoll, Maldives (local guesthouses available, ferries run daily from Malé) Thulusdhoo Island – Kaafu Atoll, Maldives (home to famous surf spots, local budget hotels, easy speedboat access from Malé) If you’ve got any secret tips or hacks for traveling the Maldives for less, drop them in the comments! Let’s help each other level up our adventure game. 🏝️💸 Opening hours: Local cafés usually open from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm Tip: Ferries and speedboats to local islands depart from Malé’s main jetty—check schedules on trip.com for the latest updates! Ready to dive in? Maldives is calling—and you don’t need to be a billionaire to answer! #maldives

If you're dreaming of the Maldives but not the crazy resort prices, I gotchu! 😎 The real hack? Book your hotel on a local island instead of those fancy resorts. You’ll still get that unreal watercolor ocean and spot cute animals (hello, sea turtles!), but your wallet will thank you big time. Local islands like Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, and Dhigurah are top picks for budget stays. Check out options on trip.com for guesthouses and boutique hotels—some even have beachfront views that'll blow your mind! Most local islands are easily reachable by public ferry from Malé (the capital), usually running daily from early to late afternoon. Heads up though: alcohol is a no-go on local islands due to local laws (Malé and all inhabited islands don’t serve it). Save the cocktails for a day trip or picnic island excursion if you really need that sunset sip. 🌅✨ And let’s talk food—sooo good AND affordable! Local cafés (often called "hotaa") serve up Maldivian classics like tuna curry, hedhikaa (snacks), and roshi (flatbread) for just a few bucks. Just stroll around, pop into a spot that looks busy, and you’re golden. So, skip the overpriced resorts and get a real taste of paradise on a local island—your bank account (and Insta feed) will def thank you! 😍 #maldives

Dreaming of the Maldives but scared of those $$$ resort prices? Here’s the ultimate travel hack: stay on a local island! 😎 Here’s how you can totally slay a cheap Maldives vacation: Step 1: Pick a Local Island Forget about splurging on private resorts—choose a local island like Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, or Dhigurah. These spots give you the same epic beaches with way better prices AND a real island vibe! 🌊✨ Step 2: Don’t Book Ahead (Trust the Process!) A lil’ secret… skip the advance bookings. Once you arrive on the island, walk around and chat with hotel owners directly. You’ll likely score a room for around $30 a night—yup, you read that right! 🙌 Step 3: Level Up with Public Ferries Getting from one island to another? Use the public ferries! They’re seriously cheap (usually just a couple of bucks), super reliable, and a great way to see more of the islands from the water. You can check schedules and book tickets on trip.com. Bonus: Most guesthouses include free breakfast and fast Wi-Fi (peep the reviews on trip.com for hidden gems!). Pro tip: Always ask about late check-outs and any last-minute deals in person—sometimes you’ll get extra perks just for asking! Ready to experience paradise without maxing out your credit card? The Maldives local islands are calling, and this hack is your ticket to a wallet-friendly tropical escape. 🏝️💚 #maldives

If you’re obsessed with swimming, snorkeling, or just want to vibe in crystal-clear lagoons, the Maldives totally delivers. Pro tip: Skip the pricey resort scene and snag a hotel on a local island! (Try Maafushi or Thulusdhoo—both are super welcoming and wallet-friendly.) Staying local means you’ll save BIG and still get access to insane beaches and all the watery fun. Most guesthouses can hook you up with gear rentals and snorkeling trips—so you’ll be living your best life without burning your bank account. Maldives basics you gotta know: · Location: Maldives, Indian Ocean (Southwest of Sri Lanka) · Local island picks: Maafushi Island or Thulusdhoo Island · How to get there: Fly to Velana International Airport (Male) and hop on a speedboat or ferry · Best time to visit: November to April (dry season = perfect beach weather ☀️) · Water activities: Guided snorkeling tours, dolphin cruises, diving, paddleboarding (ask your hotel for daily deals!) Scattered across 90,000 square kilometers of the equatorial Indian Ocean, the Maldives consists of 26 natural ring-shaped atolls holding roughly 1,200 low-lying coral islands and sandbanks. Known for shallow turquoise lagoons, vibrant reef ecosystems, and distinct overwater architecture, the archipelago splits into two very different travel styles: private island resort enclaves and locally inhabited islands with community guesthouses. Diving and Snorkeling with Whale Sharks in South Ari Atoll: The waters of the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA) host a resident, year-round population of juvenile whale sharks feeding on plankton along the outer reef drop-offs. Local dive dhonis and speedboat excursions run regular search runs along the shallow reef shelf. Manta Ray Feeding Aggregations at Hanifaru Bay: Located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this narrow, funnel-shaped bay traps massive concentrations of plankton during the southwest monsoon (May to November). At peak lunar tides, dozens of manta rays engage in mass cyclone feeding just feet below the surface. House Reef Snorkeling Straight from Shore: Unlike sandy lagoon stretches, islands with intact "house reefs" (coral walls dropping off a few dozen meters from shore) offer immediate access to blacktip reef sharks, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, and schooling reef fish without needing a boat charter. Overwater Bungalows and Sandbank Escapes: The classic Maldivian landscape consists of timber walkways branching into shallow lagoons lined with thatched villas on stilts, along with day trips to isolated, tidal sand spits surrounded completely by open sea at low tide. Local Island Culture on Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, or Rasdhoo: Inhabited islands offer a look at everyday Maldivian life—coral-stone houses, active boat-building yards, local tea shops (hotaa) serving short eats (hedhikaa), and surf breaks accessible directly from the beach. Choosing Your Airport Transfer (Crucial Planning Step): All international flights touch down at Velana International Airport (MLE) on Hulhulé Island next to Malé. Your island transfer depends entirely on how far your atoll is: Speedboat: Serves North and South Malé Atolls. Departs directly from the jetties outside the terminal; runs day and night regardless of flight arrival times. Seaplane (Trans Maldivian Airways / Manta Air): Required for outlying atolls (Baa, Raa, Ari, Noonu, Lhaviyani). Seaplanes fly strictly in daylight hours (approx. 06:00 to 16:00). If your international flight arrives in Malé after 15:30, you must stay overnight in Malé or Hulhumalé before catching a morning transfer. Domestic Wheeled Flights: Fly to regional island airstrips (e.g., Dharavandhoo, Maamigili) and operate after dark, followed by a short speedboat connection to your resort or guesthouse. Resort vs. Local Island Regulations: Private resort islands operate as independent concessions where standard resort attire and alcohol are permitted. Inhabited local islands follow conservative customs: alcohol is strictly prohibited by law, shoulders and knees should be covered when walking through village residential lanes, and swimwear is permitted only within designated, screened Bikini Beaches. Weather Seasons: The dry Northeast Monsoon (Iruvai) runs from December to April, bringing calm seas, minimal rain, and maximum water visibility for diving. The Southwest Monsoon (Hulhangu) from May to November brings occasional tropical squalls and choppier sea crossings, but offers the best conditions for surfing and peak manta ray sightings in Baa Atoll. Reef Conservation: Never stand on, touch, or kick coral formations with fins. Always pack mineral-based, reef-safe sunscreen (free of oxybenzone and octinoxate) to avoid bleaching delicate lagoon coral systems. #Maldives #VisitMaldives #MaldivesTravel #IndianOcean #OverwaterVilla #TropicalParadise #SnorkelingMaldives #TripMoments

When people think of the Maldives, they usually picture expensive overwater villas and luxury resorts. But you can experience those beautiful turquoise waters and white sandy beaches without spending thousands! My recommendation? Thulusdhoo Island! Located approximately 30 minutes by speedboat from Malé, Thulusdhoo is a local island where you can experience the Maldives for a fraction of the price of staying at a private resort. The speedboat also saves on an expensive sea plane from Male. My speedboat was around $30. And accommodation doesn’t have to be expensive either! You can find budget rooms for around £160 per week, while more luxurious boutique accommodation can cost around £500 per week. Prices depend on the season and availability. So, what can you do on Thulusdhoo? 🏝️ Beautiful beaches — Enjoy the same turquoise waters and white sand that make the Maldives famous. Just remember to use designated bikini beaches, as Thulusdhoo is an inhabited local island. 🐬 Dolphin watching — This was one of the highlights of my trip! Seeing dolphins swimming in the ocean was an unforgettable experience. 🤿 Snorkelling excursions — Explore coral reefs, spot tropical fish and discover the incredible marine life surrounding the island. 🚤 Island hopping — Take excursions to neighbouring islands or even book a day trip to a luxury resort island. A great way to experience resort life without paying to stay overnight! 🥥 Fresh coconuts — Grab a coconut, find somewhere by the beach and enjoy a refreshing drink. 🥤 The Coca-Cola factory! — Yes, Thulusdhoo even has a Coca-Cola bottling factory. Not something you’d necessarily expect to find on a little Maldivian island! My money-saving tips: ✈️ Check AirAsia when comparing flights to the Maldives, particularly if you’re connecting through Southeast Asia. You might find a much cheaper route. 🚤 Use shared speedboat transfers rather than expensive private transfers. 🏡 Stay in a local guesthouse instead of a private island resort. 🍽️ Eat at local cafés and restaurants rather than booking expensive dining packages. 🐠 Compare excursion prices locally, especially for snorkelling, dolphin watching and island hopping. 🕰️ Shoulder season is a great time to go. I was there for the last week of October. The season began in November and prices were much higher. Another perk of going when I did is that hotels and restaurants were trying out new menus and offers ready for the main tourist season! Double win! You don’t need a luxury resort to enjoy the Maldives. Staying on a local island gives you beautiful beaches, plenty of activities and a chance to experience everyday Maldivian life. Would you choose a local island or a luxury resort in the Maldives? 🇲🇻 #maldives #thulusdhoo #budgettravel #maldivesonabudget #traveltips #hiddengem #luxury #asia #beach #beachvacation #island #islandlife

Whenever we want a few relaxing days in good company, we always choose Samura Panorama. This was my fourth stay, and the occasion was the birthday of one of my closest friends—perfect for a weekend with friends! The entire team is always amazing. They helped me organize a surprise dinner and prepare the cake to celebrate in the best way possible. Thank you, Giacomo, for this little paradise that, thanks to you and the staff, always feels like a second family! See you in November.

The Maldives isn't just about $5,000-a-night overwater villas. By staying on local islands with guesthouses, the country becomes remarkably accessible for regular travelers. Rooms start at $35–$60 per night, lunch at a local cafe costs $4–$8, and ferries are just $2–$4. A 10-day trip can cost between $600 and $900 per person, including domestic travel and excursions. Here is your complete guide to the budget Maldives in 2026. Save this—you’ll need it. 📌 🏝️ TOP LOCAL ISLANDS: WHERE TO GO Maafushi (Kaafu Atoll) — The pioneer of budget tourism in the Maldives. It features bikini beaches, dive centers, water sports, and a lively atmosphere. You'll find budget-friendly hotels and excursions to sandbanks and snorkeling spots. Consider staying at Arena Beach Hotel or Kaani Village. Rasdhoo (Alif Alif Atoll) — Smaller, quieter, and more charming. It serves as the perfect base for the famous Rasdhoo Madivaru, where you can dive with hammerhead sharks. Expect sandy streets and friendly locals. Ukulhas (Alif Alif Atoll) — One of the cleanest islands. It's well-maintained, featuring a bikini beach and an incredible house reef right off the shore. You can spot sea turtles, reef sharks, and coral gardens here. Thulusdhoo (Kaafu) — The surfing hub. Home to the famous "Chickens" surf break. It has a relaxed, artistic vibe with a great local atmosphere. Dhigurah (Alif Dhaal) — An island known for its 3km-long sandspit. This is your best chance to see whale sharks, as local guides spot them almost daily. Fulidhoo (Vaavu) — Traditional and tiny. This offers a true local experience with an excellent house reef (turtles and rays) and an authentic feel. Fewer tourists, more authenticity. 💰 BUDGET: WHAT IT ACTUALLY COSTS Daily Expenses: Budget Traveler (Local Island): $60–$90 per day Mid-Range (Guesthouse + Speedboat + Excursions): $150–$300 per day Resort Stay: $500–$1,500+ per day Specific Prices: Guesthouse — $35–$60 per night Lunch at a local cafe (tuna with rice) — $4–$7 Street snacks ("short eats") — $0.50–$1 each Half-day snorkeling tour — $25–$45 Sandbank or dolphin cruise — $30–$60 Public ferry (Male to Maafushi) — $2–$3 Speedboat (Male to Maafushi) — $25–$35 one way Important: A Green Tax ($3–$6 per night) and a service charge are added to most bookings. Always check if these are included in the listed price. 💵 🚐 GETTING AROUND: FERRIES AND SPEEDBOATS Public Ferries (MTCC): The cheapest option. Male to Maafushi is about $2–$3; Male to Fulidhoo is about $4 per person. However, ferries only run a few times a week (usually Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays), are slow, and do not operate on Fridays. Schedules change seasonally, so check the MTCC website. Speedboats: Private operators run Male to Maafushi for $25–$35, Male to Dhigurah for $60–$70, and Rasdhoo to Male for $36. They are faster and more frequent but more expensive. Pro Tip: If a ferry is running on your travel day, always take it. Saving $30–$50 per person per trip covers several dinners or an extra excursion. ⛴️ 🍽️ WHAT TO EAT AND WHERE Maldivian cuisine on local islands revolves around tuna, coconut, rice, and spices. Mas Huni — Tuna with coconut, onion, and chili. The breakfast of champions, served with roshi (flatbread). Hedhikaa (short eats) — Fried snacks filled with fish and coconut. Usually enjoyed with tea at local cafes for $0.50–$1 each. Fresh Tuna — Grilled, in curries, or smoked. It’s served at every meal. Roshii — The local flatbread eaten with everything. Where to eat: Choose local cafes over touristy restaurants. Lunch typically costs $4–$8. On Fulidhoo, check out Dream Hut—an open-air cafe right by the beach serving tuna curry. Food is cooked fresh, so expect a 45–60 minute wait. Order takeaway, go for a swim, and come back to eat on the beach. 🛂 RULES: DOS AND DON'TS The Maldives is a Muslim country, and strict rules apply on local islands. Alcohol is prohibited. You cannot buy it or bring it with you. Some islands have "floating bars"—boats anchored outside local jurisdiction. Alcohol is freely available only on resort islands. Bikinis — Only allowed on designated "bikini beaches." Dress modestly on public beaches and streets. Not every island has a bikini beach, so check before you go. Friday is a day off. Everything closes during prayer times. Plan your transfers and excursions accordingly. Ramadan: Eating and drinking in public during daylight hours is restricted. You can join locals for Iftar (the evening meal) instead. Pork and religious materials (except for personal use) are prohibited. Drug offenses carry severe penalties, including life imprisonment. 🕌 💡 LIFESTYLE HACK: THE RESORT DAY PASS The best way to get luxury at a budget price: stay on a local island and visit a resort for the day. Many resorts sell day passes that include access to the beach, pool, restaurants, and sometimes the spa. It costs $50–$150 per person, which is significantly cheaper than a $500+ nightly rate. This way, you get both an authentic experience and a taste of luxury for half the price. 🏊 🎒 WHAT TO PACK Reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 50+). Regular sunscreens contain chemicals that kill coral. Cash in Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) for ferries, cafes, and small shops. Dollars are accepted, but change is given in MVR, and the exchange rate is usually better at local spots. Mosquito repellent — Dengue exists in the country. A life jacket if you aren't a confident swimmer. 🎯 THE BOTTOM LINE Doing the Maldives on a budget is absolutely possible. With guesthouses from $35, meals for $4, and ferries for $2, paradise is within reach. Live on local islands, eat at local spots, book excursions through your guesthouse, and use day passes for your resort fix. Respect local customs, and the Maldives will reveal a side that most tourists never get to see. The ocean is waiting. 💙

It took me a while to write a review because this place feels unreal. A dream vacation, perfect for couples, families... you always feel secluded and undisturbed. It's a stunning destination, like stepping into a postcard. Upon our arrival by speedboat, we were warmly welcomed by Naseem, a true professional—discreet and accommodating. The rooms are perfect, impeccably clean, and wonderfully comfortable. Just 30 steps from the room lies the most beautiful sea in the Maldives. You’ll need sunglasses because everything is so brilliantly white and flawless, it’s dazzling. The resort itself is gorgeous, with everything meticulously arranged to ensure a perfect vacation. The location is breathtaking, with private reefs offering the best of this magnificent sea. The service is outstanding. Yasmine, the exceptional representative from Azemar, is an incredible person—always available, adept at organizing, and quick to resolve any issues. My dear Yasmine, you are extraordinary. Enjoy your time in this paradise; we will always carry you in our hearts. The cuisine is phenomenal, especially for being on the other side of the world. Bread and pastries are of the highest quality. With an Italian chef and sous chef, dear Daniele made us feel at home. The best eggplant parmigiana and an extraordinary cacio e pepe. And the mozzarella-making machine? Wow, compliments! The burrata and stracciatella tasted even better than in Puglia. A mention also goes to the incredible Scuba experience with Shams. Everyone should try the free pool session—you’ll end up diving with him, an amazing instructor who’s exceptionally kind, especially with nervous teenagers. Thank you, dear Shams, to you and your colleagues. What can I say? We can’t wait to return. A DREAM. Thank you!
The scenery is pleasant, the fun is endless, and the cost-effectiveness is high.

YeahpI have always loved the Little Four Seasons. Maybe because I have a baby, I pay attention to the preferential policies for children and the services for children in children's facilities on the island. But I can't take my children to experience the four seasons in my heart first. The food is really good to eat, 750G steak, lobster choice of various tastes, delicious to burst. Five of us ate a total of 900 U.S. dollars, all contained in HB, oh, the cost-effective food is quite high. Four Seasons of Food and Beverage is not to say, so the next four seasons of rooms, although not much luxury, but very comfortable to stay in such a room is very good, at least there are private swimming pools, you know there are private swimming pools on the island price, and then the service, too careful and intimate, my dressing table out of time is very chaotic, back. After arrival, the arrangement was very tidy and moved. Xiao Hei would come to ask if he was accustomed to eating and whether he wanted to adjust it. Um-huh, it's very warm, 100 praises. Recently, if he had time to write a travel note, even though his writing is not good, he would be regarded as a narrator of Wen Shenma. At least, it's really my real experience.
七月七日晴8466For most people this will be their first or last stop in The Maldives, as it is the island on which the airport is located. It is newly reclaimed land and being designed as a kind of "back-up" capital city in case neighboring Male succumbs to rising sea levels. As such, it is a bit of construction site as new hotels, apartments etc are going up all over the place. An okay beach for a quick dip, but gets a bit of floating trash. In any case, it is okay stopover for a night after arriving or before leaving the country.
Dr BPIt was a mesmerizing experience with Paradise Island Resort & Spa during my stay in December 2021.Beach villa and water villa rooms were awesome.Hotel staff was really good, offered us good discount on scuba diving, snorkeling and other activities. Breakfast and dinner buffet had various varieties from vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes to international cuisine along with mouth watering desserts. Also the island had fire shows, dangerous stunts performed by expert people, Disco night and lot more. During the day time paradise island had aqua yoga for everyone. Overall it was an amazing and fantastic stay with Paradise island🤩❤️. Thank you for hotel management staff for their hospitality and support. I have already recommended to family and friends to stay only at Paradise island resort and spa.
Sahil NagpalIn fact, this is the lowest price in the off-season, and it is often impossible to book a room at this price. Although the hotel room rate is not cheap, the source of customers is still enthusiastic, "I am not afraid of high prices, I am only afraid of poor quality", staying here for a night is really a good experience!
Lavender and SunSheraton Maldives is conveniently accessible by plane to Bale Airport and a speedboat picks you up from the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will receive a welcome drink, check in, and then head straight to your accommodation. We chose a beachfront villa with chairs and a private beach.
KR MakaThe company's group travel recommended an all-inclusive island. To be honest, the cost-effectiveness is very high. Adults and children are very satisfied. The island is very close to Male Airport and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the island. The recreational facilities are all available. The restaurant is large and the food is very complete. The staff on the island are very nice and friendly. If it is a family or a group, it is especially recommended to come here. The cost-effectiveness is still OK
David Lee Ali DaudiGili Lankanfushi Island in the Maldives is the closest place to paradise. The sea water here is extremely blue, and there are water villas here. You can book this water villa in advance and it is very comfortable to stay.
