Shenzhen Food Guide

Shenzhen's culinary landscape is dominated by Cantonese cuisine, blending tradition with innovation, from the smooth Teochew-style rice noodle rolls, delicate double-skin milk, and exquisite shrimp dumplings, to the golden-red roast goose and the crispy and juicy Guangming pigeon. Each dish is a refined presentation of taste, deeply loved by diners.

Shenzhen Transportation

Shenzhen's transportation network is extensive and efficient, with Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and the city's railway stations being key hubs for intercity travel. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) is a major aviation hub located 32 km northwest of the city center. It serves as a hub for several airlines and offers a wide range of domestic and international flights. To reach the city from the airport, passengers can use the metro service connected to the airport terminal via an Automated People Mover (APM) system, or opt for bus, taxi, and intercity bus services available at the Ground Transportation Center. Shenzhen Railway Station, also known as Luohu Railway Station, is situated in the Luohu District and serves as the southern terminus of the Guangshen Railway. It provides access to high-speed trains to Guangzhou and conventional trains to various destinations across China. The station is conveniently connected to the city via Subway Line 1 (Luo Bao Line), which offers a direct route to central district and other parts of Shenzhen.

Shenzhen Where to Stay

Shenzhen is a city renowned for its diverse accommodation options, with hotels spread across distinct districts, each offering its own unique traits. The city's accommodation landscape reflects the variety of its regions, catering to every traveler's preferences and needs.

Shenzhen Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Shenzhen is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant with much less rainfall and the occurrence of a typhoon is very rare. This period includes the cool and dry autumn months, as well as the mild and sunny winter season, making outdoor activities and visits to theme parks enjoyable. Specifically, mid-October to late November offers comfortable temperatures and less rainfall, ideal for exploring the city's attractions.

Shenzhen Useful Guide

Shenzhen, a city where the past meets the future, is a linguistic tapestry woven with Mandarin and Cantonese. As a traveler, navigating this multi-lingual landscape, one can rely on translation apps or local interpretation services. The city's cosmopolitan nature is reflected in its residents' multilingual abilities, often a necessity in this global tech hub.

I really love coming to Window of the World 🇫🇯🇦🇪🇹🇱🇪🇨🇹🇬
So much fun to explore ✈️ See the world without leaving the country 🗼🗽🌍
I was pleasantly surprised again this time 👐🏻
The Pyramid area has been fully renovated. It's super photogenic 📸
With Children's Day approaching 6️⃣1️⃣🍼🧒🏻
It's a huge win for moms and dads—perfect for both science education and taking the kids out.
Fun science experiments and time magic shows 🔅🧪🪄🧙
It's so lively❕ Waiting for the little ones to come and find the answers ☑️
(And the best part: Caesar Palace has air conditioning, hehe) 🤗
Not only are there great-looking NPC parades 💂🏻‍♀️🌸🚗🦸🏻‍♂️
But also the humorous and quirky Uncle Erdan ⭕️👨🏻‍🦱
He looks a bit fierce, but he's super charismatic when he talks,
Funny and down-to-earth, full of contrast, hehe 😁
A super witty parenting comedy blogger 🎤🤠
If you're tired from walking, taking photos, and laughing, head straight to Happy Water World 💦💦💦
Sunlight sparkling on the water ☀️ Dinosaur-shaped slides 🦖🝝
Kids can have a blast—summer fun 💧🟟🫧
Outdoor travel tips: Remember to protect yourself from mosquitoes and the sun ☀️

To be honest, I feel like 1 day wasn't enough to see it all! There are so many attractions; there's something interesting every 10 meters. Besides the rides, there are photo spots and interactive installations! There are parades and NPC interactions from time to time. Honestly, a whole day really isn't enough, haha.
The older I get, the less brave I become, so I skipped many of the high-intensity rides.
🎒 Gear:
If visiting during the rainy season, be sure to bring an umbrella/disposable raincoat (you can use the raincoat for water rides later).
Disposable underwear or a light change of clothes.
Oil-absorbing sheets/cooling patches/wet wipes.
📍 Itinerary: Warrior's Hammer → Sunset Roller Coaster → Perfect Storm → Tunnel Warfare → Arctic Adventure → Mimi Rabbit Parachute Drop → Carol's Music Box → Jungle Adventure → XD Storm Chase → Raging Waves → Gold Mine Rafting → Torrent Adventure → Summer Wave Music Festival → Shangri-La

Don't know where to go in Futian, Shenzhen? You really need to save this therapeutic one-day Citywalk route for photos, exploring, and dining! I tested it with a friend a few days ago; it wasn't rushed at all, and it was full of great food and sights. I had to organize my Futian relaxing roaming diary for you to copy! ✨
🗺️ One-day itinerary
OCT-LOFT Creative Culture Park > hikii Fusion Bistro > A park > Futian Central Park
🌿 Stop 1: OCT-LOFT Creative Culture Park
A super popular artsy district in Shenzhen. The streets with sunlight filtering through the leaves are incredibly photogenic! Old Heaven Books is quiet and peaceful, the roadside creative markets are great for treasure hunting, and the graffiti wall and the classic "Shenzhen" sign in the South District are must-visit photo spots. The Donkey Bar coffee truck, French vintage shops... just walking around is full of surprises. Every time I come, I discover something new, and every snap is like a piece of art.
✨ Small tip: Wear light colors—everyone looks great in photos!
🍽️ Stop 2: hikii Fusion Bistro
After walking, you have to treat yourself to a delicious, beautiful meal! Hong Kongers heading north to eat found a gem! This new-style Korean fusion restaurant, created by a Michelin team from New York, is located in the Futian CBD.
The interior is quiet and stylish. Whether it's a date, a birthday celebration, or a small gathering with friends, the vibe is always on point.
We ordered a table full of dishes that didn't disappoint 👇 👇
🦐 Secret Sauce Marinated Argentine Red Shrimp: The shrimp are huge, evenly coated in a secret, soul-satisfying sauce. The meat is sweet, firm, and bouncy—so good you'll be licking your fingers! As a fan of marinated seafood, I was blown away. The texture is absolutely amazing.
So satisfying—it's the ultimate therapeutic, beautiful meal.
🌳 Stop 3: A park
Perfect for a post-meal stroll to digest. This hidden gem of a park is tucked away with many cute coffee shops and grocery stores. It's not crowded and very quiet. Walking around, stopping to take photos, it's relaxing and comfortable. I felt my energy slowly recharging.
🌇 Stop 4: Futian Central Park
You must save some time in the afternoon for Central Park! With its huge, therapeutic lawn and babbling brook, you can enjoy a leisurely bike ride. There's also a camping and picnic area, or you can just lie on the trendy chairs and enjoy the evening breeze. Along the way, I even saw people fishing. Every step is a gentle, scenic view. Ending the day's therapeutic journey here is just perfect!
