Don't just wing your itinerary when visiting Yanji! Seeing too many photos online sets expectations too high, and you might feel let down when you arrive 😓. Here are some practical tips from my own trip to help you avoid most of the hassle!
📍 Internet-famous wall
Go either before 9:00 AM or after 9:00 PM (lights go out after 10:00 PM) for fewer crowds and better photos. Take your shots and go. Taking them yourself is enough; I personally think the photographers there don't take photos as well as I do, but to each their own.
📍 Folk Custom Park
Book a photographer a week in advance. It's less crowded and better for photos around 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM. Ask clearly what's included in the photo package and stay alert. Photographers who can show you the finished photos on the same day are relatively more reliable.
📍 Piyan Mountain Hot Spring Ancient Village
This is a place I personally love! It's only a 30-minute drive from Yanji, and there are so many hot spring pools~ Go in the morning when it's empty to soak in the outdoor springs, then head indoors when it gets hot at noon! If you get tired of soaking, you can go to the second floor to "steam," then head to the book bar to read, play games, or grab a bite at the restaurant to rest. It's so satisfying~
📍 Jingshan Octopus City
The brave are the first to enjoy the food! Once the pork belly and live octopus on the sizzling plate are served and the heat is turned on, the pork belly gets more flavorful as it fries. Eating it with the chewy octopus is a wonderful texture combination~ The deep-fried octopus has a thin, crispy shell, and you can taste the natural savory flavor of the octopus. Dipping it in ketchup makes it even more delicious with that sweet and sour kick!
📍 Aoshu Fried Chicken
Fried chicken for a late-night snack is pure happiness! Pair it with a bottle of ice-cold creamy rice wine—refreshing!
📍 Dapu Family BBQ
📍 Baipule Walnut Charcoal Skewers
A restaurant packed with locals at mealtime can't be wrong! 📍 Xiaojin Girl Yanbian Cuisine
A Korean restaurant that holds a special place in my heart! The ramen inside is coated in cheese, making it even more fragrant~ The Korean-style spicy marinated crab is like jelly—delicious!
📍 Piyan Mountain Hot Spring Hotel
I heard that if you stay here, you can see the distant mountains outside. The scenery is beautiful. I'll come back next time!
