Huainan

Huainan is located in the north-central part of Anhui Province on the banks of the Huaihe River in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Delta. Huainan has both a long history and profound cultural heritage. During the Western Han Dynasty, the king of Huainan, Liu An, compiled the Huainanzi, known as the ancient Chinese encyclopedia. He also invented tofu. The famous Battle of Fei River—where a decisive defeat happened at the hands of a small force—took place here. Huainan is also the host city for the China Tofu Culture Festival and other activities that take place to promote local tofu culture.
