Traveling to visit ancient sites ~ Hebei Botou Mosque (National Fifth)

Botou Mosque is one of the famous ancient Islamic buildings in North China. Its overall shape is similar to Han Buddhist temples and Taoist temples, but its functions are completely Islamic, reflecting local characteristics. It was first built in the second year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1404), and has undergone many expansions and renovations. The existing buildings are in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was built by order of Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di of the Ming Dynasty. Since then, it has undergone many reconstructions and expansions. The main structure of the existing building complex was mainly formed in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and large-scale repairs and expansions were carried out during the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty. It was built by order of Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di of the Ming Dynasty. Following the principle of central axis symmetry of traditional Chinese architecture, the main buildings including the gate, Bunker Building (Minaret), Prayer Hall, and Moon-Watching Building are arranged in sequence along the north-south axis. The mosque faces east and sits west, covers an area of 15,000 square meters, with a construction area of 3,000 square meters. It consists of three parts: the front yard, the atrium, and the main hall courtyard, with more than 200 houses. The exterior combines traditional Chinese temples with Arabic architectural elements, such as flying eaves, brackets, glazed tile roofs and Islamic patterns. The main worship hall adopts a "hook-and-link" structure, forming a huge vertical space that can accommodate thousands of people worshipping at the same time. The rear kiln hall has a hexagonal spire. The temple houses precious cultural relics such as the Ming Dynasty handwritten Quran, Ming and Qing Dynasty porcelain, bronzes, and , reflecting its profound historical heritage. The brick carving and painting techniques are exquisite, with floral and geometric patterns as the main patterns. Some carvings incorporate auspicious patterns of the Han nationality and coexist with Arabic calligraphy, showing the fusion of multi-ethnic cultures.

Universal Beijing Resort

Service: 3 stars. I bought the U-Pass pass, but when I entered one attraction, I thought it was the U-Pass lane, but it was actually a regular lane. They didn't give me any directions; I only realized I was in the wrong place after asking the person behind me. Secondly, at the Cybertronian Knights restaurant, when ordering, I don't know if it was to save costs or what, but when I went to pick up my food, I asked for a disposable glove, but they said the other tray they gave me was... Their attitude was particularly bad, even though the view was quite nice. I have to say...

We loved our experience here but especially because of our lovely Tour guide, Susie! She knew everything and was very informative. She really made the experience for us. Thank you, Susie with the orange Beijing flag and wonderful spirit.

Badaling Great Wall

The North Line cableway is temporarily closed; you'll need to take a cable car to the South Line. It's spectacular, and the cable car makes climbing the Great Wall much easier for elderly people—it's a very quick way to get there. The South Line is generally flat, making it very suitable for the elderly and children.

Mount Taishan

Hiking Mount Tai at night, haha, it's definitely worth bringing kids and family for a unique outdoor experience. The kids were great! With so many people, it was less tiring. We climbed a bit, rested a few steps, and finished in three hours. Our legs weren't sore at all when we came down. I really want to climb it again!

Prince Kung's Palace Museum

It was quite impressive. The productivity of that era to build houses and multi-story structures like that is truly remarkable. It's so huge; I couldn't even see everything before my feet started to ache. I don't know the original ticket price, but I bought it by scanning a QR code at the entrance for 40 yuan per person.

Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven Park is not only a national 5A-level tourist attraction, but also a spiritual carrier of Chinese civilization that has endured for thousands of years. As the world's largest and best-preserved ancient sacrificial complex, it offers visitors a far greater sense of awe than ordinary royal gardens. What is most breathtaking about the Temple of Heaven is its architectural wisdom in embodying profound cosmology. The 28 large nanmu pillars of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests hold hidden meanings, symbolizing the four seasons, twelve months, twelve two-hour periods, and twenty-eight constellations, perfectly demonstrating the ancient Chinese concept of "imitating heaven and following the earth." The "Heavenly Heart Stone" of the Circular Mound Altar and the Echo Wall of the Imperial Vault of Heaven, through ingenious acoustic design, interpret the ancients' pursuit of resonance between heaven and earth. Strolling on the Danbi Bridge, which rises above the ground, feels like walking through a time tunnel connecting the human world and the heavens. Besides its magnificent ancient architecture, the natural ecology of the Temple of Heaven is equally captivating. It boasts the most complete ancient tree grove in Beijing, with over 3,500 ancient cypress trees providing ample shade, their vigorous and upright forms a testament to its grandeur. As Kissinger said, the United States can replicate the architecture of the Temple of Heaven, but it cannot replicate this 600-year-old tree. Here, you can see squirrels leaping among the branches and leaves, hear the songs of rare birds, and feel a rare tranquility and vitality in the bustling city.

Baotu Spring

Finally, I saw Baotu Spring, which I'd read about in textbooks! The garden isn't large, but the ancient pavilions and weeping willows beside the clear spring are very pleasant. Seeing the three springs bubbling upwards with my own eyes was much more vivid than in the photos; the water was crystal clear, and koi carp swam leisurely. There's also a memorial hall for Li Qingzhao inside, and the atmosphere was quite nice as I strolled around. The main spring area was a bit crowded, so finding a quiet spot for photos was a challenge. An hour or so is enough to leisurely explore; it's definitely worth a visit when in Jinan.

Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery, impressive architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere. I really enjoyed exploring the area, although it was a bit crowded, especially around the popular spots.
