Must-See even not Mentioned in Lonely Planet
Time travel to 1957, and you'll be amazed by the first dam ever built solely by Japanese near the Eai River which often had flooding. Fast forward to now, we recognise this as a piece of Civil Enginee...
I saw a signboard on the way to Naruko Gorge. Naruko Dam is the first arch dam made by Japanese people alone in Japan, which was completed in October 1957 over about 6 years from 1952. The mountains around the dam were colored and very beautiful.
Dam Lake where I went to Naruko's oni no Kami. The fresh green scenery is spectacular. For some reason, the deer was installed and the cocone! Cocone! It was ringing. (^_^;)
You will need a rental car. It's about 20 from Naruko Onsen. It's very beautiful. I fell in love with it in the cold, probably because the weather was on my side.

A dam like any other
The dam is opening a river. It is relatively large but now there is no reason to go to Naruko alone.
