Small but quiet shrine
Aizuchi Inari Shrine is located the back of the street at Higashiyama-ku. The place is quiet and nice for photo- taking during sunny weather. We happened to pass by this site when we aimed for the H...
I found a small torii gate on Sanjo-dori, so I went there. There was a torii gate between old private houses, and there was a small Inari shrine in the back of the winding alley. I visited quietly because I passed through the front door of the private house.
There is a red torii gate along Sanjo-dori, so you can see the entrance, but after passing the torii gate, you will be in a residential area along a narrow and winding alley. It's a sugu from the torii gate, but the private house is right in front of you, so it feels like you've entered a private land. The precincts are also about tatami mats 7~8 tatami mats. It is a famous shrine in Noh and Kabuki, and it seems that there are worshipers involved when performing a performance related to this shrine.

It is called Aizuchi Inari Jinja. Sanjo Munechika is enshrined as a god who hit "Aizuchi" when making a Japanese sword "Kokitsumaru".

It's in the city, so you'll be overlooked. Personally, I would like you to see it at night rather than go in the daytime.
