This mangrove tour exceeded my expectations; our guides, Jay and Xiaoqi, were absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning, they were incredibly attentive, helping us spot wildlife and reminding us to protect ourselves from mosquitoes and sun. Once inside the mangroves, they patiently explained the various plants and animals, answering all our strange questions without ever getting annoyed. Whether we were wading in the mudflats or getting on and off the boat, they were always mindful of everyone's safety. What touched us most was their warmth—they were all smiles, chatting like old friends, and even took many beautiful photos for us. What was supposed to be an ordinary day trip became a truly unforgettable experience because of them. I wholeheartedly recommend Jay and Xiaoqi; the mangroves are even more worthwhile because of you! I'll definitely book you again next time! 🌿🚣

This was the itinerary for the first day in Kota Kinabalu. I booked this Manukan and Sand Island day trip through Xiaole customer service. The scenery was beautiful and the boat ride was only 10 minutes. The two tour guides spoke excellent Chinese, and the lunch was quite good. It was a wonderful trip.

Xiao Yong, the customer service representative, helped with the arrangements, and overall it was very good. The instructor led five people, and we communicated in basic English. We met at 4:30, and after everyone arrived, we received our equipment and got a brief explanation. We set off on the boat around 5:00. We were all beginners, and the boats were connected together. The instructor rowed from the front. Although it was supposed to be a stand-up oar, I didn't have the courage to stand up the whole time. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't good, and we didn't see the fiery sunset. At the end, Instructor Miko (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling) took a set of beautiful photos for us on the shore.

The value for money was amazing! We went to Manukan first, then Mamuthi, and finally Sapi Island. Each time we changed islands, staff were there to guide us, and they spoke multiple languages, making it very convenient. The large boat was very stable, preventing seasickness. We stayed at Pacific Silk Island, a five-minute walk from the pier, and could go directly to our room to shower after disembarking. We saw many fish in Manukan and Sapi, making it perfect for those who are afraid of water. With our feet on the ground, only our bangs got wet. Bringing our own snorkeling gear made it even cleaner, and we bought a prescription mask, finally able to see the fish clearly underwater. The staff forgot to give us our life jackets, so I rented one from a safety officer in Manukan. When we arrived at the second island, we realized we hadn't returned it. The staff said they would return it for us, which was already very appreciated. Then, after I mentioned that they hadn't told me to bring a life jacket, they proactively contacted me and refunded me the rental price – a very unexpected experience! The water near the islands was quite clean, and the weather was nice that day. It started raining as soon as we got back to the hotel, but luckily we didn't get splashed or wet in the water.
