▲ [Yangmingshan National Park] Yangmingshan boasts diverse landscapes and rich ecosystems, nurturing many rare protected animals. With luck, you might spot Taiwan's endemic bird, the Formosan blue magpie. In the park, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, plum flowers, azaleas, and camellias bloom in vibrant competition. Spring cherry blossoms attract crowds of visitors, while mid-March brings the spotlight to calla lilies at Bamboo Lake, where flower-picking becomes a highlight. The Flower Clock, a landmark of Yangmingshan, is adorned with seasonal blooms, making it a picturesque spot for photos. Xiaoyoukeng, Yangmingshuwu, Lengshuikeng, and Qingtiangang Grassland are also popular destinations, perfect for hiking enthusiasts. The area is rich in geothermal resources, with numerous hot spring restaurants near Xingyi Road in Beitou, where the sulfur-rich springs are worth a try. Whether it's spring flowers, summer escapes, autumn silvergrass and maple leaves, or winter hot springs, each season offers unique delights to explore!

▲ Lengshuikeng (Cold Water Pit) Located in the eastern valley between Qixing Mountain and Mafeng Mountain (Qigu Mountain), this hot spring area was originally a volcanic vent. Erosion and cultivation have left only a concave valley, with rocks mainly composed of tuff breccia and hypersthene hornblende andesite. The surrounding rock formations near the springs are largely clay-altered. The spring water at Lengshuikeng is around 40°C, significantly cooler than other hot spring areas, hence its name "Cold Water Pit." It is one of Taiwan's sedimentary sulfur deposits, with milky-white spring water known as the "Milk Pool," containing neutral bicarbonate springs and weakly acidic sulfate springs. Nearby attractions include the delicate Juansi Waterfall and the ecological reserve of Menghuan Lake (Dream Lake), where visitors may encounter wildlife such as long-legged red frogs, pointed-nose red frogs, Bufo bankorensis toads, and snakes. Please stay safe, respect the environment, and avoid disturbing the local wildlife.

▲ Qingtiangang Grassland Also known as Sun Valley, it is located in the center of the Datun Mountain Range, nestled between Zhuzishan, Qigushan, Dingshan, and Huangzuishan. The flat terrain is a terrace formed by Zhugaoshan lava. During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese established the Dalingzhi Ranch for tea cultivation and grazing. After Taiwan's restoration, the government maintained the original plan and established the Yangmingshan Ranch. After Taipei was upgraded to a directly governed municipality, the ranch was managed by the Taipei Farmers' Association. Today, Qingtiangang Grassland hosts cattle from farmers in Beitou, Shilin, and Jinshan. The vast, flat grassland, covered in lush green grass, serves as a natural classroom for appreciating prairie landscapes. The rolling grassy slopes and shrub-lined trails leave a lasting impression, making it the most popular hiking destination in Yangmingshan National Park.

▲ [Xiaoyoukeng] This is a post-volcanic geological landscape area. Turning right from Xiaoguanyin Station on Yangjin Highway leads to the viewing trail, featuring fumaroles, sulfur crystals, hot springs, and spectacular collapsed terrain. From the viewing platform, visitors can see volcanic cones like Zhuzishan, Datunshan, Qixingshan, and Xiaoguanyinshan, as well as the Jinshan coastline and parking lot. Nature enthusiasts can explore the arrow bamboo forest trail for about 10 minutes to observe arrow bamboo groves, silvergrass fields, and volcanic vegetation.

▲ [Bamboo Lake] From March to April each year, Bamboo Lake welcomes its calla lily season, where visitors can admire and pick flowers while enjoying the charm of the countryside. By late May, the hydrangea season begins, with vibrant blooms perfect for photography, and the heart-shaped installation in the Black Forest is a popular photo spot. Originally a volcanic barrier lake, Bamboo Lake transformed into wetlands after the water receded. Over a thousand years ago, the Ketagalan people of the Pingpu tribe cultivated the land here, and two centuries ago, Han settlers named it "Bamboo Lake" due to the abundant bamboo and muddy terrain. The elegant white spathes of calla lilies stand out, with their unique yellow spadices hiding tiny flowers. Hydrangeas, with their rich colors and layered blooms, add to the visual delight. Combining natural scenery with floral beauty, Bamboo Lake is an ideal destination for spring outings and photography.

▲ [Flower Clock] Yangmingshan Park is located in the Datun Mountain Range, offering panoramic views of the layered peaks of Guanyin Mountain. With its mild climate and cool summers, it's an ideal summer retreat. The park features volcanic landscapes like sulfur vents and hot springs, along with a variety of flowers such as plum, cherry, peach, azalea, and camellia, ensuring year-round beauty. In spring, cherry blossoms attract countless visitors, while the famous Flower Clock, composed of seasonal blooms, makes for a perfect photo spot. Yangmingshan Park offers unique delights each season: flower viewing in spring, summer escapes, admiring silvergrass and maple leaves in autumn, and soaking in hot springs during winter. Surrounded by scenic trails, it's perfect for hiking, whether you're gazing at distant mountain vistas or admiring the flowers up close. Here, nature and leisure blend seamlessly, whether you're exploring volcanic terrain or savoring the changing seasons.

▲ [Sulfur Valley] Sulfur Valley Geothermal Area is a naturally charming destination surrounded by abundant igneous and sedimentary rock formations, showcasing unique geological landscapes. Visitors can explore several noteworthy attractions here, such as Dragon-Phoenix Valley and the Sulfur Creek Hot Spring Trail. After sightseeing, you can relax at the foot-soaking pools. The hot springs here are acidic sulfate springs, influenced by underground thermal activity, with water rich in sulfides that appears yellowish-white, known as "white sulfur." The warm and comfortable springs are perfect for family experiences. Combining geological wonders with hot spring enjoyment, Sulfur Valley offers both stunning natural views and leisure activities, making it an ideal choice for relaxation. Whether you're interested in geological exploration or simply want to soak your feet and unwind, this place promises a delightful travel experience.

▲ Thermal Valley Located next to Beitou Hot Spring Park, this is one of the sources of Beitou's hot springs. The area is perpetually shrouded in sulfurous mist, evoking images of hell, hence its alternate names "Hell Valley" or "Ghost Lake." The hot springs here are among the highest-temperature in the Datun Mountain volcanic group, with dreamlike mist creating an otherworldly fairyland atmosphere. It was once listed as one of Taiwan's Eight Scenic Spots during the Japanese colonial era. Today, the revitalized Thermal Valley features a lakeside trail and hot spring experience facilities, including an entrance hand-soaking pool and large sloped love seats. Visitors can stroll along the path while enjoying natural steam spa treatments, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens that showcase its renewed fairy-tale charm.

▲ [Beitou Hot Spring Museum] The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is a historic building, originally renowned as a public hot spring bathhouse. Its exterior features the rustic Tudor-style architecture of England, with red brick walls and black tiles set against lush greenery, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Preserved as a heritage site, it has been transformed into today's museum, serving as an ideal starting point to explore Beitou. The lookout tower is a favorite spot among visitors, offering panoramic views of the verdant Beitou Park and Beitou Library—a perfect place to unwind after a soak while admiring the scenic mountains. The spacious tatami activity hall provides sweeping vistas of the Beitou Valley and park, with its well-ventilated space carrying a faint sulfur scent, immersing visitors in the charm of Beitou's hot springs. More than a witness to history, it embodies the deep connection between Beitou's residents and their land.
