SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) uses a femtosecond laser to create and remove a lenticule within the corneal stroma through a small incision typically around 2 mm*. For appropriately selected candidates, this approach may minimize disturbance to the corneal surface while correcting refractive error, with visual quality depending on individual conditions and physician assessment.
