Located west of the Sydney Opera House, this iconic bridge is a landmark structure on par with the Opera House itself. As a single-arch bridge once hailed as the world's largest of its kind, it stands as an early representative of Sydney's architecture - majestic, elegant, and imposing. Bridge climbing has become one of Sydney's most popular tourist activities, making this the only bridge in the world that allows visitors to climb to the top of its arch.
Preparation for climbing
Conducted in small groups. Each group has a maximum of 14 climbers accompanied by a lead guide. Arrive at the front desk 15 minutes before the scheduled climbing time to check in. Complete the health declaration form, take a breathalyzer test, change into climbing gear, and store personal items in a locker. Bring the climbing harness and radio equipment for receiving instructions from the lead guide.
2. Start Your Climbing Adventure
Attach the lock or sliding lock to the fixed line on the bridge side to begin this exhilarating bridge climb. The journey starts from the east side of the bridge, ascending via gradual steps to the summit, where you'll experience the unparalleled satisfaction of taking in Sydney Harbour's breathtaking views. Afterward, the descent will be on the west side, gradually returning you to the base.
3. Climbing experience
The walkway for climbing the entire bridge is wide and stable. You'll be securely harnessed to the bridge's fixed line throughout the process, ensuring you feel safe, secure, and comfortable during your climb.
Reap the joy
Receive complimentary group photos and certificates (if purchasing photos on-site, you'll also get a USB drive and a video recording from the bridge summit).
