We had Zhou (Jo) as our guide. She was incredibly informative and the tour was well paced. I would recommend doing some research beforehand because although I got a lot of information, it was still confusing as I didn’t know anything going into it. But you’re welcome to ask questions. Overall, really good tour.

Director Wang's explanations were witty and humorous, recounting the past and present of the Prince Gong's Mansion. He delivered a vivid and engaging history lesson, and the best part was the thoughtfully prepared picture booklet, which helped everyone understand the historical figures more clearly and dispelled many of my misconceptions. In particular, the section on Heshen gave me a completely new perspective on him. Even someone as knowledgeable about history as myself benefited greatly. It was truly a worthwhile trip, and my wife and children also thoroughly enjoyed Director Wang's explanations.
Reviews: [20-person small group] Beijing The Palace Museum 1-day tour [Chinese/English/Russian guide]
Guest User2025-11-28
This small group tour to the Forbidden City exceeded my expectations! The "family-sized group" of 2-4 people was very comfortable. The English-speaking guide was professional and patient; ten years of experience on dedicated tours is no joke. From the Meridian Gate to the Treasure Gallery, the explanations covered both historical anecdotes and architectural details, making the 3-hour tour both informative and fulfilling. There were no shopping stops, making it a truly hassle-free experience. The advance notice of the meeting time was also very clear. The only minor drawback was that the Treasure Gallery was only shown from the outside, but the overall pace was excellent, the service was attentive, and even with children, it didn't feel rushed. It's an efficient way to experience the Forbidden City—highly recommended!

Fortunately, today the small group is only our family. The guide to the children's explanation is very careful and vivid!
