Have good shoes, because it is ~ 12k steps. Also in october very windy, prepare for that! Interesting and in dept guiding, thx Vanessa! Start and finish exactly as promised, very precise and professional, clearly experienced. The place is amazing, once in a lifetime must see. The "hot dog" around half time is a lifesaver, very tasty, go for it!

Don't take early hours, unless you live very close. We were late by 20 minutes and it turned to 2 hours because of the holiday. Better to be there afternoon.

Great tour with Icy. Icy had quite a bit to manage with the crowds of Golden Week proper starting that day Oct 2 and 2 latecomers. And my passport admission didn’t work because the back end of the operation had put my passport number ending in 1 as an i. That took a bit of clearing up. Other than that, the tour went as smoothly as it could have, with Icy’s knowledge of the area and her tour making me want to explore more about the history of China and the 2 dynasties that used the Forbidden City. I think we got a chance to really feel what it like in those days although the crowds would have tested anyone’s patience. After the tour, I still got pointers from Icy via text. The best part i guess was not having to deal with booking the tickets during Golden week and also how knowledgeable and great Icy was at imparting that knowledge.
