My recent trip to Wuzhen and Xitang was a complete revelation; I was utterly captivated by the gentle charm and elegance of these Jiangnan water towns. The entire experience was flawless, and I highly recommend it! Wuzhen truly deserves its title as the pinnacle of Jiangnan ancient towns. Exquisite and well-organized, it resembles a meticulously crafted traditional Chinese painting. The night view of Xizha is breathtaking. As dusk settles, thousands of lanterns illuminate the white walls and black tiles, their warm glow reflected in the flowing water. Rowboats glide gently by, the interplay of oars and lantern light creating a captivating atmosphere. Every snapshot is wallpaper-worthy. Dongzha, on the other hand, exudes a vibrant, everyday charm. Old workshops and ancient residences are scattered throughout, allowing you to immerse yourself in the authentic water town life. Every step reveals a poetic scene. Xitang, a treasure trove of ancient towns, blends everyday life with romance, possessing the unique charm of a "living, thousand-year-old town." The kilometer-long covered walkway is absolutely stunning. It provides shade on sunny days and shelter from the rain, and strolling along it, listening to the gentle flow of water and feeling the soft evening breeze, is incredibly relaxing and therapeutic. The area exudes a strong local atmosphere: elderly people washing clothes by the river, the aroma of street food wafting from alleyways, and casual conversations in the alleyways – a truly authentic and vibrant scene. Shipin Alley is deep and tranquil, with ancient bridges crisscrossing the area. At night, red lanterns sway gently, offering both quiet, secluded corners and lively folk music bars, providing a truly relaxing experience – perfect for taking photos and unwinding. Both ancient towns have their own unique charm. Wuzhen is exquisite and grand, brimming with artistic flair, while Xitang is vibrant, casual, and romantic. Whether you're a couple traveling together, a family outing, or simply enjoying a solo trip, you're sure to find something wonderful. The food is also amazing, with local specialties like water chestnut cake, lotus leaf steamed pork, and small river shrimp – every bite is authentically flavorful. The entire experience is fantastic, making it a Jiangnan trip definitely worth a second visit! The tour guide's schedule was well-organized, with detailed explanations of each attraction, and they took care of every tourist with special needs. Thank you!
