To be honest… quite expensive just for hiring the transport and getting the tickets to Danxia and Mati Caves. However, both drivers were attentive. Both places are fantastic and beautiful!

Zhangye, the second stop on the Hexi Corridor, derives its name from the Han Dynasty, a time when Emperor Wu of Han severed the arm of the Xiongnu and extended the arm of the Han Dynasty to open up access to the Western Regions. This was my second visit to Zhangye. Zhangye easily ranks among the top three tourist cities this year, and it profoundly overturned my preconceived notions of "Rainbow Mountains." Zhangye's beauty is serene, hidden deep in the valleys, atop snow-capped mountains, and within ancient temples. Bars Snow Mountain, the Alps of the East, is a sacred mountain for the Yugur people. A high-altitude, light hike of six kilometers round trip, with few tourists and good infrastructure, allows for a secluded and breathtaking experience hiking along a wooden boardwalk amidst the snow-capped mountains. Qilian Snow Mountain, Heihe River, Gobi Valley, Zhangye—I will definitely come back. The driver's service was excellent; he introduced the Heihe River and seed-related information about Zhangye, making for a great experience.
