Itinerary Overview:
Depart from Johannesburg city in the morning and drive approximately 2.5 hours to Pilanesberg National Park (Pilanesberg Game Reserve). Encompassing Sun City, the park spans 550 square kilometers, making it South Africa's fourth-largest national park. Over 7,000 animals roam freely here, with opportunities to spot the Big Five: elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, and lions. Enjoy a safari led by an experienced and knowledgeable guide, featuring two open-top jeep tours (totaling 4.5 to 5 hours) to track wildlife in the park. A delicious lunch is included. Follow your guide to encounter zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, jackals, antelopes, and over 300 bird species. Spotting wildlife adds unique excitement to the experience. With luck, you may see the famous "Big Five"—elephants, lions, cheetahs, African buffaloes, and rhinos. Don't forget your camera to capture the wildlife and the park's breathtaking scenery. At midday, relax for about an hour with a tasty lunch at the rest camp within the reserve. After lunch, continue your open safari, where you can ask your guide any questions about the animals and natural environment. Depart the park in the afternoon and return to your Johannesburg hotel before sunset. Travel tip: In South Africa, December and January are summer months, while June and July are winter—opposite to the Northern Hemisphere.
