Ritu Cliff Painting Review

Ritu County has many places carved rock paintings, mainly distributed in the southern and eastern Bangong Lake nearly two or three hundred square kilometers of the area, the most easy to find rock paintings in the Xintiang Highway near Ritu. The volume is large, some are still colored. But carefully distinguish, they are all the works of today's people, all Sanskrit, are six words of the truth.

Bangong Lake is also known as the red wave of the mismu Angla, which means "long neck swan" in Tibetan. It has the highest altitude bird island in the world. It is located about 12 kilometers northwest of Ritu County in Ali District. It is an international lake at the border between Ritu County and Kashmir in China. It is east-west, about 155 kilometers long. The north-south width is about 15 kilometers. The lake is 424 meters above sea level, 57 meters deep, and the basin area is 28,714 square kilometers. Bangong Lake is an inland lake, the lake is salty in the east and west, and it is located in Ritu County for fresh water, and the western border with Kashmir is salty water.

It is well preserved, all carved with sharp tools, the patterns are mainly grazing, hunting, and some symbols that are not understood. There is only a small part of Xinzang Road near Bangong Lake. I heard from the nearby road maintenance workers that the Alanggou is the most widely distributed.
