🔆Accommodation
✔️There are homestays, hotels, RV camps, and Mongolian yurts, or you can choose a camping tent for about 120 yuan per night.
Why is it recommended to stay overnight on the grassland? Because you shouldn't miss the beautiful Milky Way at night and the bonfire party.

✔️Guanfo Terrace, the best viewpoint for sunrise and sunset;
✔️Baicaoping, where I can lie on the grass, enjoy the breeze, and daydream all day long.

Step into the Wumeng Grand Prairie in Liupanshui, and you will discover the beauty of nature, a journey for the soul
On the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in Southwest China, there lies a vast expanse of green ocean—the Wumeng Grand Prairie. This place is shrouded in mystery, attracting countless tourists with its unique natural scenery and rich ethnic customs. Here is my personal experience on the Wumeng Grand Prairie.
First encounter with Wumeng:
After hours of bumpy driving, I finally arrived at the long-awaited Wumeng Grand Prairie. Standing on the high viewing platform, I looked out over the rolling green grasslands that stretched to the horizon, with distant mountains like a serpentine dragon quietly guarding this land. The air was filled with the fresh scent of soil and grass, compelling me to take deep breaths, as if I could integrate the pure essence of this place into my body.
Strolling on the prairie:
I took off my shoes and stepped barefoot onto the soft grass, feeling the warmth and embrace of nature with every step. Wildflowers on the prairie competed in beauty, while butterflies and bees busied themselves among the flowers. Occasionally, herdsmen passed by with their horses, their faces brimming with simple smiles, inviting me to join them in the exhilarating experience of galloping across the prairie.
Ethnic customs:
At the edge of the prairie, there were scattered Yi ethnic villages. I was drawn by the melodious sound of flutes and followed it to a village. The villagers warmly invited me to join their dance. Dressed in traditional attire, they held hands and formed a circle, dancing the joyful pot dance. I tried to join them, and although my steps were clumsy, I felt a sense of release and joy I had never experienced before.
Sunset glow:
As the sun gradually set, the sky began to dazzle. I sat on the prairie, watching the clouds at the horizon turn gold, purple, pink... breathtakingly beautiful. Time seemed to stand still at that moment, and all worries and noise disappeared with the sunset into the horizon.
Camping under the starry sky:
Night fell, and I set up my tent on the prairie. Lying inside, looking up at the starry sky through the transparent top, the myriad of stars were like twinkling gems hanging in the profound night sky. Here, I felt as if I could hear the voice of the universe, the rhythm of nature.
Conclusion:
On the day I left the Wumeng Grand Prairie, I carried with me a heart full of memories and reluctance. Every inch of this land, every flower, every smiling face was deeply etched in my heart. The Wumeng Grand Prairie is not only a visual feast but also a baptism of the soul. If you yearn to touch nature and find inner peace, then Wumeng Grand Prairie will undoubtedly be your perfect choice.

Liupanshui is a great weekend getaway for beating the heat
A cool destination—Liupanshui, the 'Cool Capital'
You can take a high-speed train or drive from Chengdu to Liupanshui, as the whole journey is accessible via expressway. We chose to drive ourselves as it was more convenient, but you can also rent a car upon arriving by high-speed train.
Our main destinations were the Meihuashan Resort, Shuicheng Ancient Town, and the Wumeng Prairie.
1. The Meihuashan Resort is known for its spherical hotel and the park, which is great for taking photos. Any shot you take is picturesque. However, the accommodation is a bit pricey, as the rooms are independent and quiet due to their standalone nature.
2. In Shuicheng Ancient Town, we mainly enjoyed the sour fish, strolled around to see the night scenery, and admired the small bridges and streams. Inside the ancient town, there are various live singing performances and talent shows.
3. I highly recommend the Wumeng Prairie. Initially, I thought it would be an ordinary prairie, but I was amazed to discover what 'the wind blows low to show the sheep and cattle' truly means. The large windmills, vast prairie, and big white clouds along the way are incredibly beautiful. Eating a watermelon when the weather is hot is just perfect, and the roasted potatoes and lamb skewers are also very nice. Overall, Liupanshui has a lower temperature, so I suggest bringing a jacket!

The Wumeng Mountains connect with mountains beyond, and the Wumeng Prairie even has a ski resort
🌟 Highlight features: The Wumeng Prairie, a grassland on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, lacks tall grasses but boasts astonishing meadows.
Visiting here, one will be deeply moved. You can ride horses, shoot arrows, ski, and even go for a thrilling mountain karting experience. The alpine lakes also join in the fun, offering breathtaking beauty that's beyond words.

🌾 Spring Magic at Wumeng Grassland
#cherryblossom2024
#Guizhou #WumengGrassland #PlateauDwarfAzaleas
Guizhou's Wumeng Prairie transforms into a colorful wonderland in spring, especially enchanting with its blooming plateau dwarf azaleas. Covering forty thousand acres, these azaleas create a mesmerizing sea of flowers, transporting visitors into a fairy-tale realm. Each azalea is a masterpiece of nature, with layers of delicate petals surrounding bright yellow stamens, emitting a gentle fragrance. Despite their small stature, the azaleas exhibit various postures—some standing tall, as if saluting the sun, while others bow or huddle together as if sharing secrets. The Wumeng Prairie offers a unique and charming floral display, inviting every visitor to marvel at its beauty. Here, amidst the grandeur of the prairie, you can witness the delicate and enchanting allure of the plateau dwarf azaleas, experiencing nature's magic and the rejuvenating spirit of spring in a serene and picturesque setting away from the hustle and bustle.

Wumeng Grassland | Disheveled by the wind on the highland pastures
Originally, I wanted to see the late blooming azaleas in Wumeng, but who knew the flowers would wither so quickly this year? There were no late blooms left, only a few clusters remaining in the deep mountain gullies. In Wumeng, during neither the lush grass nor the abundant water season, the grass facing the sun is wheat-yellow (the side away from the sun can still be green), and the water in the Heavenly Pool is only half full. It's unlikely to produce the popular photos seen online. It's worth mentioning that this season also has winds that can rival the devilish gales of the deserts in the Northwest, which nearly flipped me over several times.
Little advice:
🟢 When there is no sunshine on the mountain, it's a bit cold, and you need to wear cotton clothes, the kind that you would wear in cold weather. No wonder everyone comes here in summer to escape the heat; the name of Liupanshui as a 'cool city' is indeed well-deserved.
🟢 You must drive yourself. After entering the main gate, you can drive and take photos as you please, emphasizing freedom without constraints. Just a bit of social morality to protect the environment and animals is enough. The scenic area signs will tell you not to ride private horses, but the locals are actually very honest and enthusiastic. For ten or twenty yuan, you can ride a pony once, without any deception. They allow you to lead and take photos at will, which I personally think is very nice.
🟢 The best way to handle the strong winds is to take continuous shots for the atmosphere, and then pick a few photos afterwards to make a naturally beautiful set. For sunrise/sunset, you must climb to the mountaintop viewing platform. Standing high, you see far, and any shot you take looks good.

The rhododendrons on the high mountains of Wumeng have all bloomed, won't you go?
The wild high mountain rhododendrons, the splendid sea of clouds at sunrise, made me feel as if I had arrived at the Tianshan Mountains...
As a Guizhou native who has seen various sizes of rhododendron scenes, I thought I would no longer be shocked by any rhododendron seas, until I came to the Wumeng Prairie. This is definitely an underestimated high-value flower sea, and the rhododendrons are now in full bloom, set off at Qingming!
🌟 Over 40,000 mu of flower sea
🌟 High mountain dwarf rhododendrons (about 1 meter tall), mainly pink, white, and purple, with a small number of other types such as horse cherry rhododendrons.
1⃣4 viewing spots💐⤵️
Xiaohaizi Flower Sea: The lowest altitude, the earliest bloom, opened in late March, the rhododendrons are very large, and the wooden plank road and viewing platform not only have a good view but can also capture the 'flower road';
Tianchi Flower Sea: Tianchi is a high mountain grassland freshwater lake, the lakeshore is full of pink rhododendrons, many people take portraits and wedding photos here.
Dahaizi Flower Sea: The terrain is higher, and the rhododendrons bloom a few days later than the first two places;
Gu Aimon Flower Sea: This is the source of many 'blockbusters' on the internet, it is at a higher altitude, not only is the flower sea beautiful, but the sunset is also unique.
2⃣ Flower viewing routes⤵️
Route one➡️ Xiaohaizi Flower Sea entrance—Xiaohaizi mountaintop rest pavilion—Tianchi parking lot;
Flower viewing⏰: Estimated from March 25 to April 15 (the whole journey on wooden plank road walking tour is about 2.5 hours)

Route three➡️ Baicaoping—Gu Aimon campsite—Wild Chicken Forest—2857 (windmill)
Flower viewing⏰: Early April to around April 25 (grassland walking tour is about 3 hours)
3⃣ Other activities: Horse riding experience available everywhere; Wumeng Ski Resort's mountain off-road motorcycles, colorful slides, go-karts, glass water slides, and other entertainment projects.
4⃣ Sunrise and sunset
Sunrise sea of clouds: Guanfo Platform (springtime around 5:00-5:30)
Sunset: Baicaoping, Gu Aimon campsite (springtime around 18:30-19:00)
Ticket💰: 30 yuan
Transport🚘: Friends traveling independently can take the high-speed train to Panzhou High-speed Train Station, then take a taxi to Wumeng Prairie Scenic Area, which is very large and consists of mountain roads, it is recommended to drive or charter a car (driver and car for one day is about 450 yuan); self-driving directly navigate to Panzhou City Wumeng Prairie.
Accommodation🏠: Shifang Yun She Homestay, with a good view, directly opposite Dahaizi Flower Sea; in addition, Youyou Ran, Colorful Snail RV Camping Site, and other moderately priced accommodations, convenient for watching the sunrise.
🥘 If you don't have a beef meal in Panzhou, it's a wasted trip, there are many beef restaurants inside and outside the scenic area, all tasting good, clear soup, braised, dry pot are all delicious, spicy dry pot is highly recommended.

Roaming the Wumeng Prairie: A Cool Summer Journey
Guizhou Wumeng, known as a paradise for summer retreat and camping, has an average summer temperature of only 19 degrees Celsius, which is cool and pleasant. The scenic area is vast and boundless, with a hundred thousand acres of highland grassland, like a huge green carpet, affectionately called the 'grassland carpet' by the local people.
I strongly recommend that you visit between April and October. Starting in April, the hillsides are covered with blooming wild azaleas, like a beautiful painting meticulously crafted by nature's artist. At the mountaintop, rows of spectacular windmills rotate in the wind, complementing the Bijie Hundred-Mile Azalea Scenic Area, forming a breathtaking landscape.
There's no need to travel far to Tibet or Inner Mongolia, as Guizhou Wumeng can satisfy all your grassland fantasies. The cost-performance ratio here is extremely high, whether you're horseback riding across the grassland or admiring the magnificent scenery of windmills and azaleas, you can feel the unique charm of nature.
Detailed address: Wumeng Prairie, Panzhou City, Guizhou Province
🌤️Warm Tips:
1. Due to the changeable weather, it's advisable to prepare a set of summer clothes, as well as windproof and warm clothing, to cope with sudden temperature changes.
2. Don't forget to bring essential items: sunscreen, sun umbrella, sunglasses, and a thick piece of clothing. If you plan to drive yourself, arm sleeves will be your best companion, as the summer sun is relentless inside the car!
3. Wumeng Prairie, a destination full of surprises. Here, you can enjoy flowers, participate in colorful ethnic activities, join the bonfire party at night, and taste the delicious roasted whole lamb. Horseback riding, archery, grass sliding, the popular swinging bridge, and the magical Buddha's light are all waiting for you to explore. If you like camping, the RV campsite will be your best choice. ⛺️
4. When the sunset fills the sky, the scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful. With just a gentle press of the shutter, you can capture a cinematic scene.

Extremely niche! A highland meadow as beautiful as a fairyland!
I arrived at the top of the mountain early in the morning before dawn!
It was to see the sunrise here!
But the pervasive fog told us
that we wouldn't be able to see the sunrise today...
However, I saw a meadow as beautiful as a fairyland!
This is the highland meadow located in Liupanshui, Guizhou!
Wumeng Mountain Prairie!
Although I missed the sunrise
Seeing the cattle and sheep grazing leisurely on the meadow in the early morning
The horses walking through the mist
And the meadow as beautiful as a fairyland
All of this was quite worth it!
There are several gates to enter the Wumeng Mountain scenic area
It takes about half an hour to drive from the 1st gate at the bottom of the mountain to the top
But on weekends, many people from the surrounding areas come here to escape the heat
If you enter from the 1st gate at the bottom of the mountain at this time
You might get stuck in traffic for over an hour
It is recommended to navigate to the 2nd gate
Entering from the 2nd gate not only saves the trip up the mountain
But also ensures you won't miss the main attractions at the top

📷Photography tips:
🟠If you want to see the sunrise at Wumeng Mountain, be sure to check the sunrise time in advance, and get to the top before sunrise, the best spot is the Guanfo Platform at the top!
📍Location: Guizhou.Liupanshui
🚗Transportation: If entering from the bottom of the mountain, navigate to Wumeng Mountain Gate 1, if entering from the top of the mountain, navigate to Wumeng Mountain Gate 2
💰Ticket: 30 yuan/person
❗TIPS:
❤️Wumeng Mountain is a high-altitude area, so be careful not to engage in too strenuous activities to prevent altitude sickness!
🧡You can drive into Wumeng Mountain scenic area and stop to play wherever you like, but make sure not to block others' vehicles with your parking!
💛The scenic area is mostly meadow, and the rest areas are relatively concentrated, so there are not many trash bins, which requires tourists to consciously not litter. We occasionally see people littering, which is indeed very annoying!

The undulating grassland in the scenic area, the gentle and low hills, the bright sunshine, the leisurely groups of cattle, sheep and horses, the pastoral scenery of the grassland, the spectacle of the sea of clouds, and the sunrise and sunset are all beautiful to the extreme. You can climb to the top of the mountain to see the clouds surging on the cliffs, the eagles flying in the blue sky, the misty sea, the majestic momentum, like poetry and painting. Various outdoor activities can be carried out on the grassland, such as camping on the top of the mountain, horse riding, archery, etc., which is a paradise for self-driving and camping enthusiasts. We stayed in the wild luxury hotel at the top of the prairie, and we can enjoy the scenery as soon as we open the door, with a great view of all the small mountains.

The 'Wumeng Prairie' is really cool in the summer of twenty degrees
The weather in the Wumeng Prairie is unpredictable. When I went there, the sky was overcast. I played for an afternoon and the sun came out for ten minutes, but it was really beautiful. The 15 yuan ticket is too worth it!
Location|Guizhou Province, Liupanshui City, Wumeng Prairie.
Transportation|You can take a bullet train to Liupanshui City, or to Panzhou City. But it is recommended to drive by yourself. It takes 1.5 hours from Liupanshui to the scenic area, and 1 hour from Panzhou City to the scenic area. The scenic area is very large, there is no shuttle bus, you need to drive by yourself. If you don't drive, you may need to rent a car or charter a car. It takes 2 days to walk.
Consumption|The original price of the ticket is 30 yuan. There are barbecue and snacks in the scenic area, and the price is not outrageous; you can skip the horse farm in the scenic area, the price is a bit expensive, you will encounter many locals with horses on the road, you can bargain to 30 yuan, there are many ponies, very cute, you can take pictures with them.
Weather|The weather on the grassland changes greatly, the ultraviolet rays are strong, but the temperature is not high, around 19 degrees, the wind is particularly strong, the kind that can blow your head, you need to do a good job of sun protection, and you also need to bring a coat when you go in summer.
Accommodation|After buying a ticket to enter the scenic area, you can play for a few days. There are food and accommodation inside. The hotel prices in the scenic area are a bit expensive. There are Mongolian yurts and starry campsites. You can also rent tents for camping. There are many hotels in Wumeng Town outside the scenic area, most of which are hotels opened by rural self-built houses. The environment is general. You can choose to stay in Liupanshui or Panzhou City. We stayed in Liupanshui, which is very cool, more than twenty degrees, Jiaotong South Road and Yanhe Street are very lively at night, there are many places to eat, it is recommended to avoid Lei sauce roast meat.
Tour route|Buy tickets at Gate 1 to enter the scenic area - Changhaizi - Baicao Lawn - Guan Buddha Platform - Exit the scenic area from Gate 2.
There are many plank roads in the scenic area, and each plank road can see different scenery, but it is tiring to walk, you can choose to walk some selectively. There are many beautiful places along the way, you can stop and take pictures at any time.
Tour time|The scenic area is very large, if you want to play thoroughly, it is estimated that it will take two days. If you play for one day, it is best to arrive at the scenic area in the morning and play for 7 or 8 hours.
Be sure to check the weather before you go. The scenery is a bit worse on cloudy days, and it is a real cartoon world on sunny days.
The Hungry Backpacker
Speaking of the grassland, I think everyone will think of the northwest in the first reaction, but for a person living in the south, it takes too long to go to the northwest, and the expenses are also quite large. Even so, there is no place in the heart. The illusion of going through the prairie is a rush, and this trip to Guizhou has come unexpectedly with the Wumeng Prairie in the southwest of Guizhou. It was particularly surprising to hear that there was a prairie in Guizhou. The impression of Guizhou has always been a landscape painting. I never thought that it would have a plateau grassland.
Wumeng Mountain stretches between Guizhou and Yunnan provinces. It has a wide geographical area and is magnificent. The Wumen Prairie also belongs to a part of the Wumen Mountain. The Wumen prairie belongs to the high altitude area of Panbei, with a maximum elevation of 2,857 meters, which is the second highest peak in Guizhou. "Five ridges smashed the waves, and Wumeng took the mud balls." Chairman Mao said here in the poem "The Seven Laws and Long March".
Wumeng Grassland covers an area of about 90 square kilometers. It is a magnificent scenic spot with a beautiful grassland, plateau lake, mountain azalea, magical Buddha light and many other attractions. Driving slowly on the mountain road, the blue sky and white clouds outside the window and the endless grass sea and the flocks of cattle and sheep gathered together to form a beautiful picture. Everything here is so free, fresh air, beautiful The scenery makes people forget the embarrassment in the city. Many wind power towers were built on the
panshan road. They are towering in the sky, and the white blades are lightly rotating under the blue sky, which has become a landscape here.
Hehe_Hexiaoxi.
The terrain of Guizhou is high in the west and low in the east. The Liupanshui city in the west is the cool capital of China, which is most suitable for summer vacation. The Wumeng Prairie in Panzhou, which is close to Yunnan, is also known as the Slope Grassland. It is one of the highest altitude and largest plateau pastures in the Southwest. The altitude here is between 2000 meters and 2857 meters, and the annual average temperature is 11.1 degrees. The
Wumeng prairie scenic area is very large, with 178 square kilometers, with different scenery all year round. There are tens of thousands of acres of alpine rhododendrons in the spring, and the mountains are all colorful. In summer, the grass is turned into a ski resort in the winter, and there are spectacular wind turbines on the rolling hills.
Driving a special grassland motorcycle from the grassland, the gentle soft sister has become heroic and full of pride.
Changhaizi is also called Tianchi. It is 2000 meters long and 300 meters wide. It is crystal clear and is the highest lake in Guizhou. The weather on the mountain is changing rapidly. A cloud floats over, the mountain peaks looming, and the wind blows into blue sky and white clouds.
Wumeng Prairie has a total investment of 1 billion yuan, which is positioned to integrate landscapes, grasslands, flower seas, canyons, villages, flowing clouds, Buddha light and other beautiful scenery to create a unique plateau in western China and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Features ethnic customs and scenic spots.
The scenery on the grassland is everywhere, you can drive in, there are also walking on the wooden plank road and observation deck, and the 100,000-mu plateau grassland is endless.
River2014.
The Wumeng Prairie is one of the highest and largest mountain pastures in the Southwest. The highest altitude is 2,857 meters, which is the second highest peak in Guizhou.
Wumeng prairie has a unique scenery, that is, grassland Buddha light.
If calculated in days, the number of Fo Guang in the grassland on the slope is at least 30 days per year. If it is calculated in the number of occurrences, there are at least 60 times per year.
Although I have never seen Buddha light this time, I have seen the beautiful landscape of the misty clouds.

The prairie seems to have always been attached to the vast expanse of flat land, and the Wumeng Prairie told me with its silent beauty that the grassland is not a plain patent. As one of the highest altitude and the largest plateau grassland in the Southwest, the Wumen Prairie is the most beautiful and beautiful. The altitude is doomed to be extraordinary. The highest altitude here is 2,857 meters, with an average elevation of 2,500 meters. The annual average temperature is 11.1 °C, so it is a good place for summer vacation. Unlike the flat pastures, the vast land is unobstructed. The Wumeng steppe has rolling grassland and gentle low hills. The locals call it slopes on the grassland, which has formed a unique beauty because of the changes. The monsoon brings the ocean's water vapor into a cloud that meets here and changes, so that every day can know a different Wumeng steppe.
