Trip Moments Recommendations
#Tsutenkaku Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Who says there's no nightlife in Japan when you can have fun in Osaka at night
When I traveled to Japan, one thing that shocked me was that the shops in Japan really close early, and the streets are basically deserted after nine o'clock (especially in ancient cities like Kyoto)🥲 Tokyo and Osaka, the big cities, are relatively better, but the nightlife is not as rich and colorful as I imagined💔 This note tells you where you can go to play in Osaka at night~
1⃣️Shinsaibashi & Dotonbori, this is one of the busiest night markets in Osaka, with food, shopping, and shops all available🍢 It can be said to be the largest and most complete shopping place! And there are many anime check-in places hehe😁 The super famous Glico Man sign is also in Dotonbori oh🙈
2⃣️Umeda Hep Five, there are Ferris wheels and many izakayas here, as well as some large shopping malls, which are also good places to experience Osaka nightlife🎡 If Dotonbori is more down-to-earth, then the Umeda business district will be relatively high-end, with all major luxury stores gathered~
3⃣️Universal Studios Osaka, the movie city is more atmospheric at night~ Especially the world of Harry Potter🌍
4️⃣Tsutenkaku, also one of the landmarks of Japan, you can see the colorful Osaka city at night. Coming to Tsutenkaku, it's like stepping into an anime, everything is as beautiful as a comic❤️
Of course~ In addition to the above famous landmarks and attractions, you can also choose a bar, invite three or five friends to chat and drink, and experience your own Osaka nightlife🍷

4⃣️Tsutenkaku: It is recommended to come here after 4 pm, you can take beautiful photos of the sunset sun shining on the tower! 🌇
5⃣️Kiyomizu-dera: The biggest highlight here is the suspended Kiyomizu stage, where you can overlook the streets of Kyoto! The eleven-faced thousand-handed Guanyin statue enshrined in the main hall is a cultural heritage that can bless wealth! 🏯🌸
6⃣️Nara Park: This is a majestic and shady historical park! The most famous is the group of sika deer inside, and there are about 1700 cherry trees of different varieties in the park, and you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring! 🦌🌸
7⃣️Kasuga Taisha: A well-known shrine in Nara, it was established at the same time as the ancient city of Nara, and the gods who protect the city are enshrined! The more than 2,000 stone lanterns contributed by believers on the approach are very spectacular! ⛩️✨

Shinsekai, Osaka’s Most Unique Neighbourhood
#wheretogo
I chanced upon the Shinsekai area of Osaka where the famous Tsutenkaku Tower is on my way to Tennoji Zoo, which was just a short walk away. The Tsutenkaku Tower is one of the main attractions in the area with over 100 years of history. Unfortunately as I was short on time, I didn’t get to go up the tower as the queues were long. I did however explore the rest of the neighbourhood and it was so unlike the usual parts of Osaka that we see. This place has a very unique charm, almost like an old school sort of atmosphere with quirky signages and decor. There are a bunch of colourful, eye- catching eateries and shops along the street. There are also many old school games stores dotted around which were surprisingly fun. The brightly coloured stores attracted the attention of my daughter who enjoyed herself tremendously with all the games I used to play as a kid. It brought back lots of nostalgic memories. Shinsekai is also a well known place to have Kushikatsu, a style of deep fried food unique to the area. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to this area. Do come to this underrated place in Osaka that not many visit and be surprised as well. I highly recommend going at night as the tower and streets would be all lighted up beautifully.
Osaka - our first stop on the trip to Japan.
When you go to Osaka for the first time, what classic gameplays are worth recommending?
Osaka is known as the "Four Capitals", that is, "the capital of commerce, the capital of food, the capital of water and the capital of laughter".
The people of Osaka are flexible and good at discovering new business opportunities. At the same time, they dare to abandon the outdated old industries. In the midst of constant changes, they have become a famous "commercial city" in Japan. Today's well-developed tourism industry in Osaka also confirms this point, which also makes Osaka stand out among the popular cities for traveling in Japan.
The "city of food" Osaka was known as the "Kitchen of the World" in the Edo period, and the word "喰い头れ" was born from this, which means that Osaka people will "eat until they go bankrupt". After walking around Kansai, you will find that whether it is Kyoto or Nara, their local food is a bit monotonous. Only in Osaka can there be endless food every day.

I like the New World and Tongtiange most. It is very lively, with exaggerated shops, famous bird burning, puffer fish and the like, and the distant Tongtian Pavilion is the scene that appears in Conan.
Although the Japanese are rushing and busy, but in this cozy atmosphere, busyness is only part of life.
We all know Japan's name about East Kansai. If the most famous city in Kanto, Japan, is Tokyo, then the most famous city in Kansai, Japan, must be Osaka.
Osaka is the largest city in Kansai, Japan, and is the center of Japanese economic, trade, and culture. As Japan's second largest city and an important industrial and commercial city, the economy is certainly particularly developed. Plus, because it is a famous historical city, it also makes Osaka very popular. Many people choose to travel to Osaka. Here, you can not only feel the same bustling as Tokyo, but you can also experience the feeling of being different from Tokyo.
Sumo Themed Restaurant in Osaka 🇯🇵
Sumo themed restaurant called Yokozuna Tsutentaku is located in the busy streets of Tsutentaku in Osaka, Japan. It is approximately 5 minutes walk from Shin-Imamiya train station.
It is known for its bright and colourful sumo inspired interior and exterior design that captivates the eyes of the onlookers. It also offers sumo-sized meals that can be shared with the whole group.
On a Sunday night, it wasn't busy. My family and I went in the restaurant around 7:30 pm and we immediately got a table to sit in. The overall atmosphere is pretty good, and the food is decent. I recommend the Shabu Shabu that we ordered for 4400 yen. Tastes delicious!
Just be aware that there's a 350 yen table fee if you decide to dine in.

After visiting Japan, I came to appreciate life in Shanghai even more
Welcome to the 5th episode of Pixie's World View: Japan.
I am Pixie, here to help you find your ideal life.
After traveling through Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo, I'll share my experiences from a tourist's perspective.
Let's start with the good parts:
📍Osaka: The "Northeast" of Japan
🚗 Two-day itinerary: Shinsaibashi-Dotonbori-Tsutenkaku-Universal Studios
Osakans are indeed warm-hearted, and two unexpected details illustrate this:
1. While walking, a young lady caught up with me because she had picked up a coin I dropped on the ground, and she returned it to me while bowing.
2. After buying a lens and noticing I was hesitant to buy a protective filter, the cashier gave it to me as a gift, worth 300+
📍Kyoto: The place "closest to spirits and humans" as described by Yasunari Kawabata.
⛩️ Lazy person's one-day itinerary: Fushimi Inari Taisha (the filming location for 'Memoirs of a Geisha') - Stroll along the Kamo River
Other attractions: Kiyomizu-dera, Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, Kifune Shrine
Kyoto has more natural scenery, and the alleys you stumble upon look just like scenes from Japanese anime.
The people are not as enthusiastic as in Osaka, but rather a bit distant, suitable for introverts, with a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a slow city walk.
📍Tokyo: Bustling metropolis
Shopping and gourmet hotspot: Ginza
Anime and manga checkpoint: Akihabara
Popular observation deck: Shibuya Sky
World's busiest intersection: Shibuya, with the Hachiko statue nearby
The subway is extensive, and the business districts are intricately connected, with service attitudes falling between the two aforementioned cities.
However, after several days of exhaustive walking, I ended up sleeping in the hotel for a whole day and night
🌟Other:
1. High level of automation in facilities, such as smart toilets in public restrooms
2. Introvert-friendly, many restaurants have machines at the entrance where you select your meal, pay, and then just hand over the ticket when seated to wait for your food. Some places even have individual booths where the meal is served in front of you, and the chef will pull the curtain for you after you're seated, so you're not disturbed.
⚠️So why do I appreciate life in Shanghai even more?
1. High transportation costs, not suitable for those who rely on taxis. A 1.5 km ride in Osaka can cost over 200 in traffic, and a taxi to Narita Airport can easily cost thousands.
After midnight, there are no subways, so many Japanese people who work late prefer to stay in capsule hotels rather than take a taxi home.
2. Subway/bus fares start at 10 yuan per stop, and the routes are very complex. Often an hour on the road, half of it is spent looking for subway transfers and studying routes... This greatly reduces the travel experience, especially during rush hours, it's like starting a new job.
3. Severe aging population, hence high labor costs.
You can often see elderly people working in food stores.
Delivery fees for takeout are twenty to thirty, a meal costs two hundred. Instant noodles 15+, a cup of milk tea 40+, convenience store bento 35+
4. Generally small living spaces, a hotel in Osaka costing 600+ is less than 14 square meters, not even enough space to lay out a suitcase, which can be depressing over time... For the same price, you could even stay in a five-star hotel in downtown Shanghai.
What do you think?

Osaka! Tsutenkaku is a treasure trove of trivia.
The inside of Tsutenkaku, which is not often highlighted, is actually quite fascinating. The observatory is, of course, wonderful, but the objects and dioramas on display are also charming and very characteristic of Osaka. At the entrance staircase, there are posters in Kansai dialect (Naniwa language), and I was surprised by words that are not part of the common national language. In the elevator, I even saw a homage to a certain movie, and I never got bored at all. I really recommend it.

Walking on the Tsutenkaku's streets in Osaka was a blast, especially with its cultural games! From traditional stalls to lively street performances, every corner offered a glimpse into Japan's vibrant heritage. Engaging in these activities made the journey both fun and enriching. #summerdream
Great spot to drop by!
#thingstodo
This tower and observation desk was moderately busy on a Monday, though the entry closed a couple of hours before the official time. The location of the entrance point is easy to spot on a less crowded day and the ticket price is a bit on the higher side. The elevators were a bit slow comparatively, but the ambiance was wonderful and so were the views.
But its a great spot to drop by. I didn’t go on the top but ended up spending hours walking around the tower filled with hundreds of shops and restaurants. Good vibe and really fun if you’re a foodie. A lot of things to try. Nice view for both day and night which gives you different feelings. Night time seems to be more vibrant in my opinion.
Walking and eating along Tsutenkaku, it's hard not to fall in love!
Tsutenkaku is an observation tower located at 1-18-6 Ebisu-higashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, Japan. The tower is 103 meters high (100 meters of the tower body, 3 meters of the antenna) and is one of the landmarks of Osaka, and also a 'registered tangible cultural property' of Japan.
The meaning of Tsutenkaku is 'a towering building leading to the sky', and the person who named it was Nanfuze Yue, a Confucian scholar in the Meiji period.
In the second year after the completion of Tsutenkaku, in 1957 (Showa 32), a huge advertisement of Hitachi Company was added to the side of the tower. The closer to the tower, the more you can feel its grandeur and charm.
However, it was my first time to visit Tsutenkaku at night. When I went there, it was quite late, and only a few Osaka burns were still in business, and it was still very lively. I simply ate some late-night snacks, walked and took pictures all the way, and really enjoyed it 😎.
If you want to climb the tower and overlook the beautiful scenery of the whole Osaka🌃, it is recommended to go early~
