Fairy lake is a botanist's dream land
Fairy Lake Botanical Gardens or Xianhu Gardens is a stunning nature park found to the east of Shenzhen's Luohu district. It is closest to the Xianhu Road subway station on line 2.
The park is 20RMB per person for entry and you can use a shuttle bus to quickly travel around the perimeter of the park (highly recommended in the heat of summer) or choose to walk around the road. If you choose to walk you will get a more intimate view of the thousands of different species of trees, flowers, cacti and every other kind of plant they have in this park. Most plants have a plaque showing their name in English, Chinese and latin name.
The park has several areas of note to visit including: a large temple that is in use by monks, a pagoda, an area of trees planted by recent famous political figures, a bonsai tree area, a cactus area, a fossil forest, an aquatic plant area, a paleontological museum and the central lake area with some interesting bridges.
The highlights for me were the fossil forest and the cactus area, I never knew so many amazing and unique species of cacti existed.
One of the coolest places I've discovered in Shenzhen, highly recommend for nature enthusiasts.

The Lakeshore 😘
For me, The Lakeshore is the best part of the entire Fairylake Botanical Garden. ❤️
The Fairylake, also known as Lake Xian (Xianhu) is a man~made lake with small rustic bridges, pagodas, and halls all over the area.
Addition to its serene beauty is that quaint coffee shop tucked in the trees on the lakeshore. Its called Asakusa coffee. Looks like a hide out for elves, dwarfs and fairies. ❤️ Imagine them sipping coffee in the morning. Whimsical ✨✨✨
It is the focal point of the garden.
Founded in 1983, FairyLake Botanical Garden first opened to public in 1988.
Come check it out and get your cameras ready!

A garden from a fairytale... ❤️
Truly it stands for its name, FAIRY LAKE BOTANICAL GARDEN... It's like, it comes out straight from a fairy tale book. 😍
Fairy Lake Botanical Garden also known as Xianhu Botanical Garden is a 1349.20 acre botanical garden located at Liantang Subdistrict in Luohu, Shenzhen. It is situated at the foot of the Sycamore mountain (Wutongshan), beside the Shenzhen reservoir. Infact there is an entry way, or a starting point of a trail goin up the the Wutong mountain inside Fairy Lake garden.
This garden got a "National AAAA level tourist site" by the China National Tourism Administration in 2007.
This garden got several gardens inside it. Like the Orchid and Butterfly garden, Bonsai garden, to name a few. The Fairy Lake itself, plus the famous Hongfa temple is also located within Fairylake Botanical garden.
Entrance fee is 15rmb (adult).
Pay it a visit. It's worth it. 👍❤️

Fairy Lake, Xianhu Botanical Park
Fairy Lake or Xianhu gardens is a large botanical park located in Yantian district of Shenzhen, to get there you should take the subway to Xianhu road and walk for about 5 minutes to get to the entrance. Alternatively you could take a 20 min shuttle bus or taxi from Luohu.
It costs 10RMB per person for entry which is really cheap for what you get access to. The park is primarily a large road and walking trail filled with different species of plants, most of the trees and flowers have labels telling you their scientific names which is really cool. If you dont want to walk all the way around the park (probably takes 1.5 hours) you can take a bus to the interesting points. I would suggest the bus if you travel here during hot summer months as it can get particularly humid and sweaty here.
There are several points of interest around the park, the first of which is the main central lake, with a small rocky beach area and a few small rivers, they sometimes have boats on the lake. Nearby are some trees planted by famous Chinese leaders. There are several small gardens like aquatic plants, bonsai garden (currently closed), fossil forest, pagoda, temple and cactus garden. The cacti are particularly impressive and i highly recommend visiting.
There is also a geological museum, and you can pay extra to enter the temple area which is inhabited by monks.

🌟Where to go and how to play?
🟢In the Xianhu Botanical Garden, pass the Hongfa Temple and walk forward for a few minutes to the Fern Center. (You can refer to the map in the comments for details)
🟢Go straight to the Fern Center and up the stairs, in one or two minutes you'll reach a small platform where you can go left or right; I went up from the right and then came down in a circle.
🟢The air here is very good, not many people, very quiet, the sound of insects and birds is particularly clear, it's fine to go alone, there are security patrols inside.
🟢It's also very suitable for family outings, forest photography can heal your soul.
🟢For photography, there are many good spots on the stairs, and there's also a pavilion above with hardly any people, great for taking pictures.
🌟What should you pay attention to?
🔴If you attract mosquitoes, bring some mosquito repellent, there weren't many mosquitoes when I went, but there were some buzzing around.
🔴Some paths are blocked, remember not to go there to avoid unnecessary trouble.
🔴The mountain is not high, you will reach the top quickly without rushing.

The Xianhu Botanical Garden is bustling with visitors during the Qingming Festival
Located in Luohu District of Shenzhen, the Xianhu Botanical Garden is nestled against Wutong Mountain, the city's highest peak to the east, and Shenzhen Reservoir to the west. Covering an area of 546 hectares, it was established in 1983 and officially opened to the public in 1988. It is a botanical garden that integrates species conservation, scientific research, education, and tourism.
The Xianhu Botanical Garden preserves over 8,000 plant species and has established various specialized gardens such as the Cycad Conservation Center, Magnolia Garden, Rare Trees Garden, Palm Garden, Bamboo Area, Shade Plant Area, Desert Plant Area, Fruit Garden, Aquatic Plant Garden, Peach Blossom Garden, Gymnosperm Area, and Bonsai Garden.
The garden is divided into six major scenic areas: the Heavenly Scenery Area, Lake Area, Temple Area, Desert Plant Area, Fossil Forest Scenic Area, and Pine and Rhododendron Scenic Area. It features unique garden attractions such as the Cave of Wonders, Liangyi Pavilion, Jade Belt Bridge, Dragon Honor Tower, Listening Waves Pavilion, and Lansheng Pavilion, as well as a distinctive Paleontology Museum. The beautiful natural scenery, unique garden architecture, and mysterious plant kingdom are endlessly praised.
The Palm Area is lush with green grass and interspersed with coconut and screwpine trees, presenting a rich tropical landscape; in the Shade Plant Area, carnivorous plants lie in wait to capture their prey; the vibrant flowers of the Dancing Orchid resemble court ladies stepping gracefully in dance; in the Fossil Forest, agate fossils stand proudly, their tree rings undiminished by eons, as if recounting Earth's ancient and dramatic history; the Desert Greenhouse is filled with colorful xerophytic plants; at dawn, the bell of Hongfa Temple echoes, and the chanting is solemn and moving;
at sunset, the lake shimmers, and the reflections of green trees and pavilions paint a picturesque scene that makes one linger and forget to return.

It's stunningly beautiful‼️In a second, you're transported back to Kanas, and there's a blooming rhododendron🌺, giving you the feeling of being in Yunnan
There's a wide variety of plants💐including amaryllis, orchids, pansies, rhododendrons, and many air pineapples, with superb design that perfectly blends the wild with the man-made
👣The weather wasn't great on the way down the mountain, and it was peak time, so we had to queue for the bus. We chose to walk down the mountain🚶which took 33min, with a gentle slope, making it relatively easy
Traveling on holidays is really tough, and we even encountered thunderstorms halfway through, making it even tougher.

Shenzhen Tourism Only after arriving do you realize that Shenzhen is more than just parks and malls
Shenzhen is so big, I want to go see It's widely said that in Shenzhen, if you have money you go shopping, if not, you visit parks. But that's only if you haven't seen this guide Even the parks are worth visiting
This article is a collection of some classic attractions, which friends from other places can refer to.
More niche attractions and in-depth tours will be updated later, especially for the working people in Shenzhen! Don't miss out on the weekends~
✅ Classic Attractions Recommendations:
Jiedao Sha
Highly recommended! The scenery is particularly good, and the sea is the clearest glass sea I've seen in so many places. Just make sure to do a good job with sunscreen, I got several shades darker when I returned
Nantou Ancient Town
It's a Shenzhen specialty, with generally higher prices. The prices of small items in some boutique shops are also relatively high, so I didn't buy many things I liked 555 If you have plenty of time, it's still worth a visit. It's also the filming location for 'Hello Life'~
Xianhu Botanical Garden
Also highly recommended! For those with enough stamina, I actually suggest walking up there. It's at most around 30,000 steps on WeChat, and I walked both ways, just took it as exercise. If you happen to visit during the flowering season, there will be many tourists and the scenery is even more unique~ For those who are not physically strong, taking the bus is convenient, but you might miss the scenery along the way, and you'll directly reach the top of the mountain at Hongfa Temple, which is quite picturesque
Dongmen Old Street
All the sense of the Shenzhen era is here. It's an older district. The first McDonald's in China is here, and many people come to check in. There are also many clothes and pants in the Dongmen shopping district that are particularly cheap and of good quality. Those who love shopping can visit more, it's very affordable
Xiwang Mangrove Park
Recommended to go in the afternoon or evening, the sunset is very beautiful, and there are many people catching tadpoles and small crabs, worth a visit. Walking home slowly with friends in the evening breeze is extremely comfortable
Talent Park
It's actually right next to Shenzhen's MixC World, so I visited the Spring Bamboo Building and Talent Park together. After shopping at MixC World in the afternoon, I went directly to the nearby Talent Park to see the night view. There's a light show around eight or nine in the evening
Gangxia North
It's a popular subway station, I suggest you don't go there specially, you can just get to Gangxia North when you take the subway and check it out on the way. It's a very beautiful subway station! It's really worth visiting as an attraction
Of course, there are also the well-known Window of the World, Splendid China, and Overseas Chinese Town, which are all very worthwhile attractions. Friends from other places are advised to stay in Futian or Nanshan, as the subway is very convenient to go anywhere~~ If you want to go to the beach, you can stay in Yantian or Dapeng for a night

Seeking respite from the heat in Shenzhen, one finds solace in the breezy bamboo forests
Seeking respite from the heat in Shenzhen, one finds solace in the breezy bamboo forests.
The bamboo grove seems to naturally exude a coolness, instantly lowering the temperature visually~ Imagine yourself in the bamboo forest, with a gust of wind chasing away all the heat.
In Shenzhen, the places with a large area of bamboo planting, apart from Cui Bamboo Park, might just be
here, right by the lake in the Xianhu Botanical Garden, next to the hand-planted tree
by the south gate and north gate.
The distance to the bamboo garden seems to be a bit closer from the north gate, a little over two kilometers away.
The bamboo leaves photographed against the backlight in the afternoon are so beautiful oh

Shenzhen Summer Retreat Spots
Shenzhen | Direct Metro Access | Summer Coolness and Hiking || Shenzhen's summer is just too hot, with the scorching sun making it unbearable to be outdoors. However, the Xianhu Botanical Garden is shaded by green trees, and the temperature is a few degrees lower than in the city center, especially in the Bamboo Garden. The babbling brook, dense bamboo forest, and the cool shade make it a refreshing escape. Even on a sunny day, the sun can't penetrate the bamboo forest, allowing for water play in the stream and photography on the quaint bridges and flowing water, which are especially suitable for traditional-style photography.
Nearby Hongfa Temple is well worth a visit. You can get off the bus to pay respects at the temple first, then walk ten minutes to the Bamboo Garden.
The following itinerary is basically sun-free, perfect for a half-day weekend outdoor retreat:
After entering the park, take the park bus to Hongfa Temple, visit the temple, walk to the Bamboo Garden, play in the water and take photos, then return to Hongfa Temple and take the bus or walk to the exit (about a 40-minute walk).
Note:
1. It takes about an hour to walk from the botanical garden's main entrance to the Bamboo Garden or Hongfa Temple. If you don't take the park bus, you can hike up and down the mountain on your own, as some people do.
2. On hot days, it's advisable to head out early.
3. There are many mosquitoes, especially be careful not to go into the bushes.
4. Xianhu is vast, and it's impossible to see everything in one day. In summer, it's recommended to visit just one or two spots. The above route is based on 'coolness'.
Address: Xianhu Botanical Garden, Shenzhen, navigate directly to the 'Bamboo Garden' within the garden.
Metro: Line 2, Xianhu Road C2 exit, 10 minutes walk to Xianhu Gate.
Opening Hours: 8:00-18:00
Ticket: 15 yuan, park bus one-way 3 yuan

Shenzhen Tourism, the pink sea of flowers and waterfalls are in full bloom at the Xianhu Botanical Garden
As the venue for the Shenzhen Flower Show in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area multiple times, the Xianhu Botanical Garden's 'Butterfly Valley Orchid' covers an area of 7,208 square meters and is divided into three viewing areas: Butterfly Interpretation, Butterfly Love Flowers, and Orchid Valley Exploration. While visitors enjoy the sights, they can see butterflies dancing around orchids, hear the babbling of flowing water, and smell the faint fragrance of orchids, which is nothing short of delightful.
Attraction Information:
Address: Xianhu Botanical Garden Parking Lot
Transportation: Take the subway line 2/8 to Xianhu Road Station C2 exit (C3 is for stairs), walk or take a bus to the botanical garden, then you can choose to queue for a bus ride up the mountain for 3r/person, the bus stops near 'Heaven on Earth', navigate to find the tulip flower show location (mainly concentrated in 'Heaven on Earth')
Tickets: 15 yuan/person, 5 yuan/student
Travel Tips:
1. If possible, go early, otherwise, it will be crowded in the afternoon! There are so many people that there's hardly any place to step.
2. Remember to bring water, as it's not easy to find a place to buy it; be mindful of sun protection, as the weather in the twenties is still quite hot!
3. There are many varieties and colors of tulips, as well as chrysanthemums, chamomiles, wind chimes, etc., all colorful. It is recommended that sisters taking photos wear light-colored dresses (white is best!)
4. You can take overhead shots, low-angle shots, and misaligned shots, etc. If you find the right angle, you can actually take pictures without people in them, but definitely do not take pictures at eye level.
Experience Review:
Shenzhen·Guangdong Apart from the towering buildings and brilliant lights, it is also a romantic city surrounded by parks, and the pink sea of flowers waterfall at Xianhu Botanical Garden is truly dreamy.
Travel Feelings:
The flower show has more people than flowers, and it's not easy to take pictures of the big scene, so focus on the flowers instead~ or squat on the ground to take pictures of people, which can also avoid the crowd~ The peak period is also around two or three in the afternoon~

Shenzhen version of 'Monet's Garden', Xianhu Botanical Garden Tulip Photo Guide
Every year I go to see the flower show at Xianhu Botanical Garden, there are always surprises, this time it's a tulip garden, it's so beautiful it made me cry‼️😭 It's called the Shenzhen version of 'Monet's Garden', with more than 40 kinds of tulips🌷
Originally I wanted to catch the tail of 2.19 for a rush, but I didn't expect the official to postpone it to the 15th of the first month, 2.24🔥 There's still time to rush‼️
The on-site situation is just right for the flowers to bloom, some have already withered, but they are still very beautiful! The layout of the entire flower show is based on the 🐉 dragon pattern, and a round trip is a good sign for the Year of the Dragon! In addition to tulips, there are hyacinths, daffodils, red tops and other flowers, like a flower mirror maze~🌷🌸🌼

The Emerald in the City—Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden
Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (referred to as Fairy Lake Botanical Garden), is a multifunctional botanical garden that integrates species conservation, scientific research, science education, and tourism. It is located at the foot of the Wutong Mountain (the highest peak in Shenzhen with an altitude of 944 meters) in the northwest, adjacent to the Shenzhen Reservoir. The Wutong Mountain is tall and straight, surrounded by clouds and fog, and the peaks are competing for beauty. After Professor Sun surveyed the topography of the Wutong Mountain Range and the Dakengtang area, he believed that the place was surrounded by mountains and water, full of spirituality, and named it "Fairy Lake". On the afternoon of February 3, 2024, a family of three visited Fairy Lake. The ticket was 25, and the greenery was lush, very comfortable. It is a good place for leisure, vacation, photo punching, and camping with children.

Good places for a day trip in Shenzhen_Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden
Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, directly accessible by Metro Line 8, is very convenient. It is recommended to visit for half a day. If you don't want to get too tired, you can take the bus in the courtyard to go up the mountain and walk down. I like to walk, so I walk up and down the mountain
The first stop must be Hongfa Temple, no need to bring incense, the temple will distribute.
Down the mountain, you can check in various parks (Heaven and Earth, Succulent Park, etc.), each with its own characteristics. There are many goldfish by the lake that can be fed. If you like, you can buy some fish food at the foot of the mountain. The vegetarian menu on the mountain has been photographed, please check it yourself.

The Fairy Lake is truly ethereal
Choosing a sunny afternoon, basking in the sun on the grass and taking a nap with eyes closed is really super super super super decompressing, indeed, people can only get spiritual tranquility and freedom in nature

Went to the temple, so tired from walking. There were so many people on the weekend. It costs 3 yuan to take the bus up, didn't take the bus when coming down. Entrance tickets are required. The grilled sausages were good when coming down the mountain, didn't care for them when going up.
