History background:
Shaanxi History Museum is located in the northwest of the Dayan Pagoda in Xi'an. It is one of the landmark attractions of Xi'an. The museum was planned in 1983, started in the summer of 1986, and officially opened on June 20, 1991. It was named Shaanxi History Museum. In 2016, Shaanxi History Museum was selected as "China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage" by the Chinese Cultural Relics Society and the Chinese Architectural Society.

Museum Features:
Shaanxi History Museum is a large modern museum, and its completion marks a new milestone in the development of China's museum industry. This museum is a Tang-style building complex with a "central hall and four corner towers". The main and secondary buildings are well-organized, the heights are staggered, and the momentum is solemn. It integrates national traditions, local characteristics and the spirit of the times.
The museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters, and houses more than 380,000 cultural relics ranging from simple stone tools used in the initial stage of ancient humans to various artifacts in social life before 1840, covering a time span of more than one million years. The cultural relics are not only numerous and diverse, but also of high quality and wide value. The collections in the museum are dazzling and exquisite. It is an art hall that showcases the history and culture of Shaanxi and ancient Chinese civilization, and is known as the "Pearl of the Ancient Capital, the Treasure House of China."
There are many treasures in the museum, including bronzes from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, pottery figurines from various dynasties, gold and silver utensils from the Han and Tang dynasties, and murals from Tang tombs. Most of them are treasures from the prosperous periods of the Han and Tang dynasties, and some of them are fine items that are prohibited from leaving the country.

Collection treasures:
There are three exhibition halls in the center of the museum. The first exhibition hall displays cultural relics from the prehistoric civilization of Lantian ape-man 1.15 million years ago to the Qin Dynasty; the second exhibition hall displays cultural relics from the Han Dynasty and the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties; and the third exhibition hall is mainly cultural relics from the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Each exhibition hall has its own treasure.
There are special exhibition halls on the east and west sides of the central hall. On the west side, there is a "Special Exhibition of Tang Dynasty Treasures (Treasure Hall, Cultural Relics Unearthed in Hejiacun)", where many fine gold and silver wares from the heyday of the Tang Dynasty were transferred to be exhibited. On the east side, there is a "Treasures of Tang Dynasty Murals Exhibition", which exhibits a number of authentic Tang Dynasty tomb murals.

The tripod
The tripod is placed in the first exhibition hall at the entrance of the museum, and it can be said to be the treasure of the first exhibition hall. The replica is placed here, and the original is kept in the warehouse. Inscription on the outer wall: The inscription "All under heaven is the king's land; all the people are the king's subjects" reflects the land ownership system in the Western Zhou Dynasty.
There are four lines of inscriptions with 28 characters on the inner wall of the Yi Ding. The general meaning is: In early August of a certain year, Wang Jiang took back the land originally given to Shi Lu and gave it to Yi, who then made this tripod to commemorate it.
Queen's Seal:
One of the treasures worth seeing in the second exhibition hall is the jade seal of the empress of the Han Dynasty, which is displayed separately. The seal is made of Xinjiang Hetian mutton-fat jade and is engraved with a Chihu, symbolizing royal power.
Three-color camel figurines carrying music:
This world-famous tri-color camel figurine carrying music is located in the third exhibition hall of Shaanxi History Museum. Its overall appearance and color are well preserved. There are seven men sitting on the camel's back, holding different musical instruments in their hands. Among them, the figurine holding the clapboard is listening attentively, as if intoxicated by the wonderful music. The woman in the middle is performing, and the camel opens its mouth wide and looks up to the sky, as if it is also singing with its master.
Gold-inlaid animal head agate cup:
This cultural relic, located in the special exhibition "Tang Dynasty Relics Special Exhibition", is one of the first 64 national treasures listed by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage that are never allowed to be exhibited abroad.
There are also many other treasures such as black-glazed oil-drip bowls, green-glazed porcelain pots with handles, gilded silver bamboo-joint copper incense burners, gold bowls with mandarin duck and lotus petal patterns, and so on.

The Shaanxi History Museum, located northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, is a national comprehensive history museum with a collection of over 370,000 artifacts, systematically showcasing Shaanxi's glorious civilization from prehistoric times to modern times.
The Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an is like a living history book. Spanning over 70,000 square meters, its Tang Dynasty-style architecture exudes a majestic grandeur. Upon entering, I was captivated by the bronze Fei Lian statue overhead. Warm yellow light shone on the slate-gray brick walls, casting a gentle veil over history. The glass cabinets in the exhibition hall resemble time capsules, housing over 370,000 artifacts. When the instructor explained that 18 national treasures were hidden here, my eyes were immediately drawn to the rusted bronze artifacts. A large tripod with Taotie patterns from the Shang and Zhou dynasties stood quietly, as if guarding a secret from thousands of years ago. The ancient human exhibits astonished me most. Clinging to the glass, I strained to identify the skull fossil of the Lantian Man—this Shaanxi native, 1.15 million years ago, could actually scrape animal skins with stone flakes! A nearby interactive model demonstrated how to make fire by drilling wood together, and the dancing flames reflected on the delighted faces of the children.
As an important cultural landmark at the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, the Shaanxi History Museum uses cultural relics to build a corridor of time and space, allowing visitors to touch the pulse of civilization of the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties among the blue bricks and gray tiles, and feel the profound accumulation of Chinese culture.
Shaanxi History Museum, the tickets are free, so it is very difficult to make an appointment. This time I went to Xi'an with my husband, and I was still looking forward to visiting the Shaanxi History Museum. Fortunately, I still made an appointment. After the appointment, I went in and waited for a while, formed a small group, and found a beautiful woman to explain. Personally, I think that visiting a history museum must have an explanation. After the tour, I have a deeper understanding of the history of the Qin and Tang dynasties, which makes the knowledge in the book become three-dimensional.
Shaanxi History Museum can be called the "Pearl of Ancient Capital", with Zhou Qin, Han and Tang cultural relics as the essence, 370,000 exhibits connected the veins of Chinese civilization. The "Guest Map" and "Polo Map" of the Tang Dynasty mural treasure hall are still fresh in color, and the treasures of the town hall such as the platinum dance horse and cup silver pot are breathtaking. . The building itself is a masterpiece of Tang Dynasty. Although some exhibition halls are slightly old, the heavy historical precipitation and high-standard cultural relics are still made here a compulsory classroom to understand Chinese history.
Facing the gentle breeze and stepping on the ancient blue bricks, my comrades and I walked into the history of Chinese civilization - Shaanxi History Museum with joy. Shaanxi History Museum is a national first-class museum. Its treasures, high specifications, large scale and profound influence far exceed our imagination. Here, time seems to stand still, and immortal treasures guard the ancient time, making every frozen moment a window to the Qin and Han civilization. The Wei River with long wind, the style of the unified Qin Dynasty, and the Silk Road scroll connecting the past and the present...
The basic exhibition of Shaanxi History Museum, "Ancient Shaanxi Civilization", takes the historical process as a clue, selects typical cultural relics from various eras for combined display, and reveals the development of ancient social civilization in Shaanxi. The exhibition hall covers an area of 4,600 square meters, including the first, second and third exhibition rooms, which are divided into seven parts (prehistory, Zhou, Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing). More than 2,000 precious cultural relics are carefully selected, systematically showing the ancient history of Shaanxi from 1.15 million years ago to 1840. Since the heydays of ancient Chinese society in the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang dynasties were all built in Shaanxi, the exhibition focuses on these periods, which not only highlights the splendid ancient culture of Shaanxi, but also reflects the highest level of social, economic and cultural development in China during these periods.
Visiting the Shaanxi History Museum is like traveling through a time tunnel and witnessing the brilliant course of Chinese civilization. The moment I stepped into the museum, I was attracted by its solemn and magnificent architecture, and the rich cultural relics in the museum made me intoxicated. Walking in the exhibition hall of the museum, I was dazzled by the exquisite cultural relics. From the pottery figurines of the prehistoric period to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Qin and Han Dynasties; from the gold and silver wares of the Tang Dynasty to the porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties; each cultural relic carries a heavy historical heritage and tells a legendary story. I seemed to see the magnificent scene of Qin Shihuang unifying the six kingdoms and felt the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. The treasure of the museum-the gilded parrot pattern handle silver pot, with exquisite craftsmanship, is breathtaking. The parrot pattern engraved on the pot body is lifelike, as if telling the wisdom and talent of the ancients. In addition, precious cultural relics such as Tang Sancai and the Six Horses of Zhaoling also gave me a deeper understanding of ancient Chinese ceramics and stone carving art. During the visit, I was also impressed by the museum's exhibition style. Each exhibition hall uses time as a clue to cleverly connect the cultural relics, allowing people to have a clearer understanding of the historical context while appreciating the cultural relics. In addition, the staff in the museum are warm and thoughtful, providing detailed explanations for tourists, which benefited me a lot during the visit. This visit to the Shaanxi History Museum made me deeply feel the profoundness of Chinese civilization. Here, history is no longer boring text, but a vivid and three-dimensional object. These cultural relics have witnessed the changes in our country's history and inherited the excellent culture of the Chinese nation. Walking out of the museum, I was overwhelmed and proud of the long history and splendid culture of my country. This trip was fruitful, which made me love our motherland more and cherish the cultural treasures we have inherited to this day.
