☕ Ipoh Wall Mural 🎨
One of the main attraction in Ipoh is it's street art done in 2014 by Ernest Zacharevic which prompted many other artists to start this street art wall mural trend. If you are in Ipoh, you could very well see most of these murals on your feet as they are all located in a few streets in the old town pretty close by. There are also map to guide you finds these interesting street art, including Ernest Zacharevic’s original paintings scattered around Ipoh Old Town.
Have fun hunting!! We did it as a family and had so much fun. Next year, I hope to travel to Penang in 2023 to see Penang wall mural!

Mural Art @Ipoh Old Town
Location: Market Lane, Ipoh Old Town, Corner Jalan Bandar Timah, Ipoh. For Mural Art Fans, Ipoh Old Town is another option to hunt the mural painting. Ipoh Oldtown is one of the prime locations to hunt mural art. The most exciting part is most of the mural was located in unexpected locations, such as the wall of the car park, at the back alley of the shop houses, on the corner at the hidden places. I found these murals inside the small street named Market lane. There are several mural art on the wall within this area. It is a story about local Kopi Tiam culture and also the happiness of kids playing with their peers. Be careful that this street is still operates as a public street and accessible by cars.

Charming Old Town of Ipoh
A 2-hour train ride from KL Sentral and you’ll arrive in a small charming town called Ipoh. You’ll be greeted with old-world architecture & narrow streets full of art & culture.
It’s a great gateaway few hours from the capital where you can explore around the scenery and good food. There are also a couple of beautiful cafes to try around the town.
If you take the morning train schedule, you can spend a day tour and go back to the city in the evening.

Chakori Cafe @ Ipoh
Chakori cafe is one of my favorite cafes in Ipoh. The ambiance is very nice; inside decor is pretty, very instragramable. One side is the window view of the market street, the other side is inside the cafe with an unfinished wall of ruined wall.
The cafe's menu change regularly; have a special cake of the day, gelato of the day, and dessert of the day. Waffle, gelato and sorbet are also available here. On my last visit, I get a mango cake with passion fruit. This cafe also has salted caramel coffee, which is so interesting. The price is reasonable, I love the coffee here, and the staffs are friendly.
Order and pay at the counter, open from 10 am to 11 pm.

Exploring the murals of Ipoh
Following on from the success of street art in Penang, Melaka and elsewhere in Malaysia, the city of Ipoh commissioned talented Lithuanian artist, Ernest Zacharevic to produce a series of murals with sponsorship from Oldtown White Coffee. His art has transformed scruffy shophouse walls into works of art, some of which use props to give a 3D effect. His work is of a transient nature (like famous British artist Banksy) and the damp mould stains on the walls caused by Malaysia's humid climate will eventually efface his work so go and see it while you can! He created 8 Murals in Ipoh, one of which (Girl) has since been painted over:
A Paper Plane
An Old Uncle Drinking Coffee
A Yellow Hummingbird
A 'Kopi' Break
A Bag Of Coffee
Girl On A Wall In Bandar Timah
Old Town Relives Nostalgia With Trishaw
Tin Mining Town With Chinese-Style Painting
Jimmysandwiches
Little Ipoh Cafe
This cafe serves local Malays food located in Ipoh Oldtown. The cafe's ambiance is very nice; it is like an old house, with a big tree in the middle of the living room, all is nicely decorated. Some of their best seller are curry mee, laksa, roti kaya, roti goyang, and nasi lemak. Shaved ice always sold out too.
The decor on the second floor is also attractive, with several traditional bird cages hanging on the ceiling.
The services are good, the staffs there are very friendly, the food price and drinks are all reasonable price, average food price is RM10. Is a self-service, so you order, pay and collect at the counter. The menu is on the wall. This cafe is popular among tourists due to its location; when I visited it, most of the food I like is sold out. Open from 9 am to 6 pm.
Address: 93-95, Jalan Sultan Yusof, 30000 Ipoh, Perak.

ArtWalk @Ipoh OldTown
If you are mural art fans, Ipoh Old Town can be another place for you to explore the art on the wall. Although Ipoh is popular as a foods destination and also originated Ipoh white kopi, the number of mural art is fascinating.
This is another place for your for photo hunt, similar to the art street at George Town, Penang Island. Some mural is easy to see, some hidden behind the back wall, or at quite and small street.
Start to explore and hunt the mural art from Jalan Bijeh Timah, to Jalan Market, Jalan Panglima, Jalan Bandar Timah, and end at Ipoh Padang at Jalan Bandar, where you can see the popular Lithuanian artist, Ernest Zacharevic painted an old man holding a cup of coffee. This mural art is a collaboration with Old Town White coffee.
Ernest Zacharevic has completed eight murals in Ipoh.

The spark is finally returning to the time-worn neighbourhoods of #ipoh. For too long, the capital of #perak state was considered a faded has been of a city #malaysia
But restorations are in full swing, especially in the streets of #oldtown, and Ipoh’s coffeehouses with delicious foods and heritage houses are staging a long overdue comeback.

This time, my mother lived in a Malaysian style home.
Malaysians like to live in this small house with a yard. The front and back of the house are hung or placed in jars filled with various colors of flowers and the beautiful colors of the houses. The
house structure looks simple, but keeps each room cool and ventilated, with a cloister at the individual turns. The house is a modern material, but the decorations inside are antique and very harmonious with the atmosphere of the house.

Ipoh Masjid Negara
Ipoh Masjid Negara#couplestrip lso known as t#familytravel he National Mosque of Perak, is a prominent mosque located in the city of Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It was built in 1967 and has a unique design that combines both modern and traditional Islamic architectural elements.
The mosque features a large prayer hall that can accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers, as well as a spacious courtyard and a minaret that stands at 125 feet tall. The roof of the prayer hall is adorned with a large central dome and several smaller domes, and the interior is decorated with intricate Islamic calligraphy and geometric designs.
One of the unique features of the mosque is its reflecting pool, which is located in front of the main entrance and creates a beautiful visual effect when the sun shines on it. Visitors are welcome to explore the mosque and its surroundings, but are required to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the prayer hall.
Overall, Ipoh Masjid Negara is a beautiful and significant landmark in the city of Ipoh, and an important place of worship for the local Muslim community

Ipoh old town for foodies
Ipoh old city is nice place for foodie. many coffee shop offer various local food with Malaysian style condensed milk coffee. Especially Hakka noodle, Yong tafu, Curry noodle. Not only Chinese food, there are also Indian and Malay food outlet. india-moslim style Nasi kandar is really good. Ipoh is not big city and not so famous for travelers, but might be better than Penang and Singapore?! #ipoh #malaysia #foodie #oldtown

Guide: Must-visit Instagrammable spots in Ipoh, Malaysia.
[Must-visit Check-in Spots in Ipoh, Malaysia][1]The filming location of the movie "The King and I", the old train station known as the "Taj Mahal of Ipoh". Located across from the Old Town Market in the center of Ipoh, it was designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback and built between 1914-1917. A typical combination of Moorish and Victorian styles, it looks like a museum on the outside and is one of the few century-old train stations still in use in the world. Inside, it is not very big, and you can see the train outside the ticket gate at a glance. The lawn square in front of the station is a great spot for taking photos and checking in. Across the street are many government agencies, all of which are historic old buildings full of character.
[2]For breakfast, you can go to "Eight and a Half Hong Kong-style Dim Sum Tea House" located in Damao District. Just look at the long line of people waiting outside, and you'll know that this dim sum restaurant is both delicious and affordable.
[3]Try the local delicacies in Ipoh, such as "Lao Huang Jia Ya Cai Ji" in Old Street. The photo shows the whole chicken I packed to go because I was in a hurry, so there are no bean sprouts and it doesn't look like the standard dish. When I got to this restaurant, there was a long queue and they told me that they don't allow takeout, only dine-in. I explained that I came all the way from China just to try their chicken, and they finally agreed to pack the whole chicken for me. It costs 76 Malaysian Ringgit (equals to 120 RMB) per chicken.
[4]You can buy "Ipoh white coffee" as a gift. While the whole world is drinking black coffee, Ipoh is famous for its unique white coffee. Famous brands include "Old Town" and "Train Head". I bought a pack of "Ipoh Train Head White Coffee" for 18.9 Malaysian Ringgit (=31 Chinese Yuan) at Old Town. (To be continued)

Canning Dim Sum
Been first time here since got a lot of recommendations. This place so nice ah! 😍 I’m so satisfied with the overall hospitality.
Very excellent service 💯 No need to wait for so long for food. The staff will bring you the dim sums for you to choose. You may choose as many as you want! You may order the seasonal menu as well as in the menu book. The dim sums are tasty, staff was very helping as it was my first experience here.
If you are planning to visit Ipoh, you should take a step into Canning Dim Sum. They got halal certified so worry no more. Also the place is clean. Not recommend to hang out or lepaking & chit chatting with friends cause a lot people are queuing outside the restaurant 😂 Consider them as well!
