Ipoh is famous for its white coffee culture, so this was the perfect first stop. Kellie’s Castle is a place you should definitely visit when you’re in Ipoh. The architecture is very beautiful and unique, and it’s an excellent spot for photography with a cinematic, vintage vibe. However, one important thing to note is that the castle is quite far from the city center. If you’re traveling without a car, it can be difficult to get a ride back, so make sure to plan your transportation in advance. Overall, it’s a stunning and photogenic location. If you enjoy taking photos and exploring historical architecture, this place is absolutely worth the visit.

I recently visited the Kinta River Walk at night, and it was a wonderful experience that truly added to the "city of its own" vibe I love about Ipoh. Even though it feels like a quiet escape, it is not far from the city center at all. I found that Grab functions very easily there, making it a quick and convenient ride from the heritage area. The ambience and looks of the riverfront after sunset are beautiful. Thousands of colorful LED lights are strung across the trees and bridges, reflecting off the water to create a magical, glowing atmosphere. It’s a very clean and peaceful place for a stroll, with a cool evening breeze that makes it feel very relaxing.

You can easily walk around the whole heritage trail in 2 hours. To make the most of it however, and go into some museums, shops and restaurants on route, as well as see the famous wall murals dotted around the Old Town, we suggest that you need about 6 hours. We made a few stops along the trails and stumbled upon this cute cafe in the area. Food is nice, very touristy, expect many customers at times. A few of our friends have been here a few times. Great food and okay portions. The mushroom soup was good but the salmon pasta has a bit of a fishy smell. Other than that lovely cafe.

Fortunately, Ipoh’s municipal government have already done the planning for visitors and created walk which starts at the railway station and ends at the Birch Memorial Clock Tower, from where it’s a 400 metre walk back to the railway station.
