No need to visit Dali! The Guangzhou version of the windy place is too good to stroll around!
A few days ago, I found myself strolling with a friend through the old town district, journeying from Yongqingfang to Liwan Lake Park. Quite unintentionally, we meandered into this intriguing alleyway, which under the sun's radiant glow, exuded an extraordinary warmth and tranquility🍃.
This ancient village, nestled within the bustling city, has been affectionately dubbed by netizens as the "Wind-swept Place" of Guangzhou. With a history spanning over 900 years, a leisurely stroll down its lanes promises a myriad of delightful surprises - from charming signboards and graffiti walls to unique coffee shops and quaint teahouses🍵.
✨I highly recommend this route for a weekend city walk: Start from Haizhu Square Station on Metro Line 6, proceed along Jiangdong Road, Jiangxi Road, Shamian, Yongqingfang, Liwan Lake Park, and finally, Pantang Wuyue.
Pantang Wuyue is rather small, and in my opinion, doesn't warrant a dedicated trip. Instead, you could plan an afternoon to explore the nearby attractions. I suggest visiting on a sunny day🌞, as the sunlight serves as the best filter🎨. The ancient village boasts numerous hidden photo spots📷, with the most photogenic being the street featured in the first picture~.
📍Location: Pantang Wuyue Historical and Cultural District, Liwan District, Guangzhou City.
🚇Transportation: Exit A of Zhongshan Balu Station on Metro Line 5.

Lately my favorite place 🤩
Liwan Lake Park displays the elegant and gentle beauty of southern China with a lake as its central attraction. The park is located in the Pantang area in Liwan district. The park obtained its name from an ancient river bend on West Pearl River, Lizhiwan, which means "lychee bend": the area is famous for its lychee trees. Liwan Park was bulit in 1958, covering an area of about 400,000 square meters, and the lake covers about 2 / 3. Liwan Lake Park was named in the ancient West Pearl River on a bend - Lychee Wan, the bend to the planting of lychee and famous, there is one poem saying "a Green Bay, spring water, lychee red cross".
Liwan Lake Park is comprised of Xiaocui Lake, Yucui Lake, Ruyi Lake and Wuxiu Lake. On the grounds are many pavilions, water pavilions, terraces, porches and towers that add to the charm. Part of the park's charm comes from the fact that there are many facilities that allow visitors to enjoy the beauty of the place while exercising in the gymnasium or swimming at the Olympic size pool.Liwan Lake Park is a collection of travel, sports, entertainment, and rest in one multi-functional, comprehensive park. Liwan Lake Park is the most elegant and graceful style emboding the southern countries.
Visitors coming during the summer months can enjoy the aroma of the blooming lotus flowers that adorn the banks of the lakes.

Liwan Lake Park in Guangzhou
A spiritual sanctuary in Guangzhou where you can spend a quiet day without spending a dime a stroll in spring
Guangzhou has finally cleared up~ You can finally go outdoors for some fresh air~ So why not take a walk in Guangzhou's Liwan Lake Park, a Lingnan-style garden?
Walking on the shady paths of Liwan Lake, the willow trees sway gently, as if waving at you. The fire bridge winds with its railings, and pavilions and towers are scattered around; every step is a view, every glance is a painting. The Yishui Stone Bridge by the lake is even more antique, making it irresistible to stop and take a few beautiful photos.
This place is not only great for sightseeing, but also has restaurants, tea houses, and dance halls in the park, as well as so many amusement facilities that you won't be able to play them all. It's also a stage for grandparents to dance and sing opera, full of vitality! A perfect dating spot for couples, a paradise for kids, and a great place for a walk. Don't wander too far; Yongqing Fang and Bantang Wuyue are nearby, offering a net of culture and cuisine. The transportation is super convenient, just take the Metro Line 5 to Zhongshanba Station Exit A and you're there.
This weekend, why not come to Liwan Lake Park to experience the Xiguan charm and enjoy the good times at this great spot in Guangzhou! Remember to bring a good mood~

The lotus blooming season in Guangzhou generally starts from mid to late May until around September

Guangzhou's spiritual sanctuary where you can spend a day in peace without spending a dime
Guangzhou's treasure trove of places for a relaxing stroll
If time is the medicine that heals all wounds,
then the ancient villages with a long history are the best spiritual sanctuaries.
In the ancient villages of Guangzhou,
I especially like to visit the ancient villages in Liwan,
like the stunning ancient village I'm sharing today that 99% of people haven't heard of,
yet it has been hidden for over 140 years.
It boasts an antique charm and a sense of peacefulness over the years...
Perfect for a leisurely citywalk!
Julong Village, also known as 'Kuang's Village,' built in 1879 by the Kuang clan from Taishan, Guangdong,
is one of the most intact ancient residential complexes in Guangzhou, not very large, but known for its quiet and leisurely atmosphere.
It has a completely different style from the Pantang area of Liwan Lake Park with nearly 20 neatly aligned, orderly Qing brick houses, providing great comfort to those with a penchant for orderliness.
It has the feel of a Xiguan mansion, with cross-barred doors, Manchu windows, old lanterns, and exquisite carvings, brimming with Lingnan charm.
Carefully renovated, it still retains its original flavor, feeling just right.
There is no commercial atmosphere here, only some intangible cultural heritage studios have settled in.
It's perfect for friends who like quiet places to wander and unwind. Outside the village, along the stream, there are also ancient relics like the Yuling Bridge.
You can stroll around or enjoy some traditional Fangcun delicacies nearby.

When you come to Guangzhou, you must visit Liwan Lake to experience the atmosphere of the old Xiguan city!
|||Liwan District is one of the older districts in Guangzhou, with a long history and rich cultural heritage. Among them, the more famous attractions are Liwan Lake Park and the Xiguan Ancient Residential Area.
🌳 Liwan Lake Park is an urban park in Guangzhou centered around a lake. In the center of the park is the Lixiang Pavilion, which has an elegant and simple architectural style. Inside the park, there are some small pavilions, corridors, and the Xiguan Restaurant Tangli Garden built on Liwan Lake, which feels quite like the misty rain of the Jiangnan region during the rainy season. Dining here in the evening after a day of touring offers a lovely scenery!

🔖 Little tips:
▪️My route: Tangli Garden → Litchi Bay → Liwan Lake → Pantang Ancient Village
If you have enough time for sightseeing, you can start from Yongqing Square and take your time walking over, for example: Liwan Museum, Xiguan Folklore Museum, Fengyuan Street, Xiguan Large Houses, etc.; there are many old streets and alleys worth further exploration and discovery.

Liwan Lake Park is a park in Guangzhou, China, located in the Pantang area of Liwan District, stretching from Longjin West Road in the east; to the downstream of Xiguan Upper Branch in the south; to Huangsha Avenue in the west; and to Zhongshan 8th Road in the north.
Historically, this area was extensively planted with lychee trees. The park was established in 1958, covering an area of about 27 hectares, with the lake accounting for 62 percent. It consists of four lakes: Xiaocui Lake, Yucui Lake, Ruyi Lake, and Wuxiu Lake, where visitors can take a ride on rental boats, water bicycles, and other watercraft.
Liwan Lake Park is the park that best reflects the elegant and gentle charm of the south, with the lake as its main feature. It is located in the Pantang area of Xiguan Litchi Bay in Guangzhou, stretching from Longjin West Road in the east; to Xiguan Mouth in the south; to Huangsha Avenue in the west; and to Zhongshan 8th Road in the north. The park was voluntarily excavated by the masses in 1958, covering an area of about 400,000 square meters, with the lake occupying about two-thirds. In 1960, Liwan Lake Park was officially named, with the park name inscribed by Shen Junru, the former chairman of the Democratic League and the president of the Supreme People's Court.
The park is dotted with pavilions, terraces, chambers, corridors, verandas, and towers amidst the green waves and trees. The trees provide ample shade, the willows are graceful, the grass is like a green carpet, the bridges are winding, the pavilions and towers are elegant, and the stone bridges over the water reflect beautifully, presenting a splendid southern landscape.
Around four in the afternoon is when there are fewer people here, making it a great time to enjoy the peace and comfort.

wan Lake Park in Guangzhou is a free scenic area, surrounded by clusters of fresh flowers and shaded by green trees, offering a beautiful landscape!
This Spring Festival, Guangzhou became a popular tourist city, ranking second on the leaderboard. Most parks in Guangzhou are free of charge, and although there is no fee, the parks are beautifully scenic and are great places for citizens to relax.
Liwan Lake Park is a free scenic area located in the Pantang area of Xiguan in Guangzhou, historically known for its extensive cultivation of lychee trees, hence its name. 'Liwan Fishermen's Song' is one of the 'Eight Sights of Guangzhou'.
The park is very large and is the most characteristic free park with Lingnan style in Guangzhou. The trees in the park are lush and green, the grass is like a green carpet, and pavilions, bridges, and galleries are intricately arranged, scattered among the green waves and trees, with lakes of various sizes shining like emeralds.
Guangzhou has a warm climate, and the greenery is lush all year round. Flowers such as flame trees and bougainvillea adorn the park, making it extraordinarily enchanting. Centuries-old banyan trees can be seen everywhere, with the green trees swaying gently.
Boats sail slowly along the waterways, and taking a boat tour around Litchi Bay allows visitors to experience the splendid scene of 'a bay of green waters, with red lychees on both banks

Trees in Guangzhou that have been around for over a hundred years, banyan trees planted during the Qing Dynasty
I walked all the way from Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street to Yongqingfang, eating and playing along the way. I passed by Liwan Lake Park, which looked quite large and had free admission, so I went in for a visit. There were many vibrant flowers, and it felt like spring had already arrived in Guangzhou. The park was full of spring scenery, and the view by the lake was also very beautiful.
As I continued walking, what surprised me were the trees here. The trees were very large and uniquely shaped. Each tree looked very ancient, said to have been born during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The trees had many branches, forming a forest on their own. The passage of time was like gold, and the beauty of the banyan shade was intoxicating. Many people were chatting, resting, and enjoying the scenery under the banyan trees by the lake.
Liwan Lake Park is a comprehensive park that combines culture, entertainment, and play. There are also restaurants, tea seats, and a variety of modern amusement facilities inside. The park is covered with lush green grass, small bridges and flowing water, presenting a typical Lingnan garden landscape, best reflecting the elegant and soft style of the southern country.
The area near the park is very lively, with a good geographical location and many attractions nearby. In addition to the lake, rockeries, and pavilions in the park, there are many small alleys filled with lanterns, which are very charming and worth a visit.

Suzhou gardens are famous for their reputation, and even foreign museums have come to copy. In the minds of ordinary people, Guangdong does not seem to be very good at the construction of exquisite Xiaojing, but it is not. If you have the opportunity to go to Guangzhou, you can visit the Liwan Lake Park, where the garden scenery is not lost to the Suzhou garden.
Tsuwan Lake Park is located in Qiangtang, Liwan District. The nearby Longjin West Road and Enning Road are the famous old buildings in the old Xiguan area. Most of the buildings in the Liwan Lake Park are also traditional Lingnan style.
Pavilions, pavilions, otters, arch bridges, cruise ships, and winding paths form the main landscape of Lingnan. The four seasons of flowers such as lotus, phoenix, and bougainvillea will make the gardens beautifully appealing.
Tsuwan Lake Park is the same as Liuhuahu Park, Yuexiu Park, Haizhu Lake and other parks. There is no charge for locals and foreigners. In the spring, you can enjoy the flamboyant phoenix flowers and kapok in the park, and in the summer you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lotus pond. Under the backdrop of ancient architecture, the flowers and plants look more charming.
Tsuwan Lake Park is not actually a monument, but was built in 1958. Several lakes in the park are artificial. Lichee Bay, which connects the park, is now a famous tourist and commercial district in Guangzhou, where you can eat. To many famous Xiguan snacks. Although the
Tsuwan Lake Park is not a monument, the buildings and the lake view have no rustic feeling. In addition to the careful design before the construction, the penetration of Lingnan culture is the main reason.

Liwan Lake Park is located in the Qiangtang area of Guangzhou, which is also known as the Xiguan area. It is close to the entrance and exit of the Zhongshan Metro Station of Guangzhou Metro. The parks and lakes are connected by bridges and dykes. The buildings are eight pavilions, eight bridges, four corridors, three halls, one Xuan and one pavilion. Walking through the Liwan Lake Park, a classic and poetic image is fascinating.
