Suzhou Trip ~ Strategy Edition
📍📍📍 Four attractions in two days and one night: Pingjiang Road (1-5), Humble Administrator's Garden (6-8), Xiyuan Temple (9-10), Shantang Street (11-13)
✔️Pingjiang Road is full of snack streets and boutiques, a combination of hustle and tranquility. Many young ladies dress in very Jiangnan style for photos.📷
✔️Walking along Pingjiang Road is the Humble Administrator's Garden, which has a history of almost 500 years. The buildings in the courtyard are very distinctive. If you encounter a tour guide, you can listen to the stories about the garden.
✔️The next day, take a taxi to Xiyuan Temple. It's amazing that your heart calms down as soon as you arrive at the temple. It's very suitable for office workers who are always in the workplace. The outside world is too noisy, here you can feel a tranquility that is completely different from usual.
✔️Walking along Xiyuan Temple, you will reach Shantang Street, which is full of special snacks and souvenirs. After the lights on both sides of the waterfront are turned on at night, it completely conforms to my impression of the Jiangnan water town~
Finally, if you have time, I also recommend going to the Suzhou Museum and listening to the Suzhou Pingtan by Teacher Wu

The first of China's four famous gardens: Suzhou Humble Administrator's Garden
🌠Humble Administrator's Garden, located in Gusu District, Suzhou City, was built in 1509 (during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty). It is one of the four famous gardens in China and the private garden of the imperial historian Wang Xianchen. It is the largest existing classical garden in Suzhou.
🌅It is divided into three parts: the east garden, the middle garden, and the west garden. The middle garden is the essence of the whole garden. The main attractions include Xiangzhou, Lotus Wind Pavilion, Reflection Building, Tower Shadow Pavilion, Orchid Snow Hall, Listening Pavilion, Mandarin Duck Hall, etc. The recommended tour route is to play counterclockwise.

Compared to the Humble Administrator's Garden, I prefer this lesser-known free garden in Suzhou
Compared to the Humble Administrator's Garden, I prefer this lesser-known free garden in Suzhou!
When it comes to Suzhou, the first garden that comes to mind is definitely the Humble Administrator's Garden. Indeed, the Humble Administrator's Garden is famous all over the world and has its unique historical culture. However, the downside of being famous is overcrowding and the same old check-in routine. Having lived in Suzhou for over a decade, I recommend a lesser-known garden that locals prefer for weekend strolls - Dongyuan.
Dongyuan doesn't have the historical background of the Humble Administrator's Garden, but it excels in being closer to nature. On the calm lake surface, swans, mandarin ducks and ducks are frolicking freely. There are also the unique pavilions of Suzhou gardens. It's less crowded, free, and a great place to relax in the afternoon. Humble Administrator's Garden

Suzhou Gardens, this is how you should capture its essence! Traditional Chinese cheongsam, a dream back to the Republic of China era
🎢【Suzhou Gardens Day Portrait Guide】
【Cheongsam Portrait Shooting Guide】
🗓Itinerary:
Choosing the location
Cheongsam is suitable for shooting in the Republic of China style streets or Ming and Qing Dynasty style grey tile white wall garden buildings.
So this time we chose Suzhou Gardens for shooting. Suzhou Gardens are famous for their unique classical architecture and exquisite garden landscapes. However, there are many tourists, so you can choose relatively less popular gardens. Suitable gardens: Liu Garden, Canglang Pavilion and Ke Garden are just across the street, Yipu, etc.
When choosing a shooting location, you can decide according to the style and scene you want. For example, Humble Administrator's Garden is famous for its exquisite architecture and waterscape, suitable for shooting elegant portraits; while Lion Grove has a unique rock landscape, suitable for shooting portraits with a certain wildness.
🕙Shooting time:
One hour before the opening and closing of the garden, avoid the crowd, you can enjoy a truly quiet garden.
📝Tips:
Make full use of the light in the garden, find the time near sunset. Create rich shadows and light and dark effects. For example, when shooting portraits, you can choose where the sunlight shines through the leaves, using the tree shadows to add a sense of layering to the picture.
🧳Composition techniques
Use garden elements: Suzhou Gardens are famous for their unique architecture and garden elements, these elements can serve as the background or props for portrait shooting. For example, when shooting portraits, you can choose to shoot in the garden's corridors, pavilions or stone bridges, using these buildings as the background for the portraits, enhancing the artistic sense of the picture.
Capture the moment: There are often some unique moments in Suzhou Gardens, such as ripples on the water, petals falling, etc.
Pay attention to composition and posture: When shooting portraits, the choice of composition and posture is very important. You can try different angles and shooting methods to create unique picture effects. At the same time, pay attention to the model's posture and expression, let them relax naturally, showing their best state.
The most important thing is to make good use of the various shapes of door frames and stone windows in the garden: The background of Suzhou Gardens is often exquisite architecture and landscapes, which can echo with the portraits. When shooting portraits, you can use the garden background, interact with the model, and create interesting picture effects. For example, when shooting portraits, you can let the model and the flowers and plants in the garden complement each other, adding a sense of liveliness to the picture.

The Humble Administrator’s Garden is the largest garden in Suzhou and is considered one of the top four classical gardens in China (the other three are Summer Palace, Chengde Mountain Resort and Lingering Garden). It was listed as World Heritage Site in 1997 by UNESCO.

Beautiful and classic garden in Suzhou
Address - 178 Dongbei St, Gusu District, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, 215001
Attractions - There are a few gardens in Suzhou awarded World Heritage. If you don’t have time to visit all, at least visit this one as it is a traditional and classic example of Chinese garden during Ming dynasty.
This is a huge garden. So plan at least 2-3 hours to explore here. If you are into Chinese culture, you can read up in advance to understand the style of the garden. Definitely, not a “humble” garden at all. Otherwise, you can sign up for a guided tour so that you can further understand the background and the story behind this garden.
A must visit in Suzhou

The Humble Administrator’s Garden is the largest classical garden in Suzhou. Along with the Summer Palace, Chengde Mountain Resort, and the Lingering Garden, it is known as one of China's four major parks. The Humble Administrator's Garden has three main flowering seasons - the cuckoo season, the lotus season, and the chrysanthemum season. This is not only a good summer vacation spot, but it is also a great place to pamper yourself.

From the quaint Humble Administrator’s Garden to Lingering Garden and more, Suzhou makes for a beautiful weekend escape into a city filled with culture, art and nature 💚
I loved wandering past the picturesque canals and exploring the numerous stone bridges, temples, pagodas and lush gardens that have attracted visitors for thousands of years - and for sure, if you haven’t already been, you will too!
Plus, at only an hour’s train ride away from Shanghai, it makes for a super easy getaway when you don’t want to (or can’t) travel too far.

Took my mum to Suzhou (water town in China). My mum needed some relaxation and getaway from a big city. It was a great choice! Not too much people. City was pretty. Architecture was like ancient China. I seriously miss Suzhou and Suzhou’s sweet sour fish.

Suzhou is famous for its garden, so if you visit Suzhou, make sure you go to Suzhou Humble Administrator Garden as it is one of the famous and most beautiful one. You have to buy the ticket in advanved as they only have limited ticket daily. Inside, you will be able to see lots of different vegetations and also pond, small lakes, lotus, and some beautiful small houses and temples. Avoid to come during the weekends as it can be very crowded #HalloTrip

One of the representative gardens in Suzhou, one of the representatives of the classical gardens, Humble Administrator's Garden
Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest representative of classical gardens in Suzhou. It is known as the four major cities in China together with Beijing Summer Palace, Chengde Mountain Resort and Suzhou Liuyuan. Famous garden. It was designed and built by Wen Zhengming, one of the four great talents of Jiangnan. It was built and built in 17 years. The corridors in the park are undulating, the reflection in the water is picturesque, and the scenery is excellent. It is regarded as one of the four famous gardens in China.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is very elaborate. The whole garden is very big. If you walk, you will get lost. But it can be described as a one step at a time. Every pavilion in the Humble Administrators Garden, every window They are all the same, and they are just right with the trees and flowers, forming a picturesque landscape. It is recommended that girls can take their own Hanfu or antique clothes to take pictures. It is really a feeling. So come to the Humble Administrator's Garden, don't just enjoy the beauty, use the unique elements of the park, and take a different photo of the tourists ~
photo point recommendation:
1. Recommended in the most iconic Take photos in front of the arches, especially the "Cui night" arches on the ins, and look out from the outside. The scenery is different. Its unique concept and ingenious design, the round hole door is also a good place to shoot.
2. The building of the Humble Administrator's Garden is very beautiful, and there are countless pavilions. Whether it is for a distant view or a close-up shot, it is a fresh and elegant ink painting.
3. When you are tired of visiting the garden, you can take a beautiful photo on the promenade and rest pavilion that can be seen everywhere.
4. The small stone bridge between the pavilions and pavilions is also a great place to take pictures.

Do not come to the Humble Administrator's Garden without a strategy guide
After the sunset glow, the Humble Administrator's Garden shines like gold, and one can enjoy the leisure and contentment, which reflects the humble way of governance!
Today, I am sharing a quick tour route of the Humble Administrator's Garden. To facilitate check-ins and let you experience the bright and elegant side of the garden when there are fewer people before 10 am or after 4 pm. If you want a deeper experience, there will be more exciting recommendations in the future.
🌿 Itinerary:
1: After entering, quickly pass through the Eastern Garden and head straight for the Wuzhu Secluded Residence. The Eastern Garden was built after the founding of the country, and you can stroll around it later at your leisure.
2: Walk along the Ping Bridge towards the Yuanxiang Hall, and enjoy the picturesque scenery of one pond and three hills unfolding like a scroll.
3: Arrive at Yuanxiang Hall facing the Xue Xiang Yun Wei Pavilion, or you can go around to the back to take framed photos. On the way, visit the round door of the Loquat Courtyard to take framed photos of the Xue Xiang Yun Wei Pavilion and the Jiashi Pavilion.
4: Xiaocanglang and Xiaofeihong are excellent photography spots, creating a sense of layering and depth.
5: Xiangzhou is a boat-like building. Walking from the stern to the bow, it feels like sitting on a moving boat, which is the best interpretation of the Chinese garden concept of 'a window of inches, an unintentional painting'.
6: Pass through the 'Another World', connecting the Middle and Western Gardens, to take classic framed photos.
7: Come to the Western Garden, watch the Zuoshetongxuan at the turn of the water body, forming a group scene with the roof of the Li Pavilion. Push the window of the Thirty-six Mandarin Duck Hall to enjoy the staggered landscape architecture.
8: Look back from the Luting Pavilion to the Taoying Pavilion, where the winding water system enhances the spatial depth, creating a true 'shadow of the tower'.
9: Follow the water system and admire the undulating and dynamic close-to-water corridor.
10: Push the window of the Yinglou to look southward, and enjoy the excellent reflection in the water.
11: Go up the slope to the Jian Shan Lou, where you can enjoy the red maple in autumn. The first floor has a sense of openness and distance, and in summer, you can enjoy the lotus.
12: The Lotus Breeze Pavilion is an excellent photography spot in summer, where you can feel the fresh and elegant fragrance of the lotus all around.
13: In the Loquat Courtyard, feel the tranquility of the small courtyard, and go to the high places of the Fucui Pavilion and Yi Liang Pavilion in the Western Garden to look afar.
14: Finally, come to the One Pond Three Hills, climb mountains and wade through water, and feel the artistic conception of 'the cicadas are noisier in the silent forest, and the birds are more secluded in the mountain'.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is a place full of historical heritage and the charm of private gardens in the south of the Yangtze River. I hope everyone can find their own beautiful moments here.

Suzhou!! Pingjiang Road!! Just checked out and I'm in tears
This Suzhou garden-style homestay is too good to stay in√ Right on Pingjiang Road√ Open-air garden√ Teahouse bathtub with unbeatable value for money!! Decided to stay with my bestie for 3 nights
For Labor Day, I wish all the courtyards in Suzhou would roll up like theirs!!!
The location must be praised
Just 100 meters walk to the Pingjiang Road Historical and Cultural District
Seven or eight minutes to the Lion Grove Garden, Humble Administrator's Garden, Suzhou Museum. After visiting the attractions in the morning, you can even go back home for a nap, super convenient! And it won't take more than fifteen minutes to get to the farther attractions!!!
A homestay with a garden is just too romantic
The yard is full of fresh flowers, and the landlord regularly changes the types of flowers
The decoration style of the teahouse, terrace, and rooms are all filled with the charm of the Jiangnan area. Sitting on the terrace in the evening, smelling the flowers, feeling the breeze, watching the sunset, and staying with my sister was so comfortable it's worth crying over!!! -
The room design is full of vintage vibes
The environment is quiet, not noisy at all! The bathroom is separated into wet and dry areas, and the bedding is changed for each guest
Drinking tea and eating takeout in the small courtyard at night is just too comfortable~
The landlord really puts in so much effort!! Must stay here again next time!!!

Humble Administrator's Garden
One of China's four great gardens, the 'Humble Administrator's Garden' is a masterpiece of Suzhou gardens. It was once a private residence in the Ming dynasty, and after several changes of hands, it has now become a must-visit attraction in Suzhou.
The garden is so full of spring that it cannot be contained, and a branch of red apricot blossoms reaches over the wall.
The Humble Administrator's Garden, brimming with the spirit of spring, has already entered the season early. The garden is filled with the colors and fragrances of spring, presenting a beautiful scene everywhere.

Before you go to Suzhou, listen to my advice!
Suzhou gives me a very healing feeling, as life here moves at a slow pace. Taking a break without feeling guilty is possible. Sitting on a small bridge in the Pingjiang Road historical district (free) and watching an old man play chess across the river, young people chatting and laughing on a boat, and girls in qipao taking photos under the trees is very comfortable and leisurely... (For sisters who love photography, you can buy a qipao or Hanfu before going to Suzhou, it's very photogenic)
The local delicacies are made delicately and exquisitely, with a dazzling variety of pastries and diverse fillings, giving a sense of a small sparrow with all its vital organs. (Too much can be cloying, so taste in moderation)
The noodles are slightly sweet, and the dishes tend to be sweet as well. If you're not used to it, prepare some chili oil or Lao Gan Ma in advance, otherwise, after a few days here, your blood sugar will soar! This is advice from someone from Hubei.
The main attractions are gardens, which best represent Suzhou's aesthetics. The structure of the garden construction and some of the bonsai shapes are very characteristic of Suzhou style, and you will be captivated by the classical Chinese beauty here. The Lion Grove Garden and the Humble Administrator's Garden are similar in style, and you only need to visit one. They both require an entrance fee of 70/80 RMB.
The commercial streets are mainly beautiful at night. In the evening, Shantang Street (free) is very crowded, with alleys on both sides of the small river packed with people. There are snacks, pubs, music, etc. (Be mindful of your belongings! With the crowds, it's easy to get separated from friends.)
After staying in Suzhou for four days, it was very pleasing to the eyes, as I really like the scenery and the classical atmosphere here. The only thing is that I'm not quite used to the sweet taste of the food, but everything else is great
