Shanghai Century Park
Address: China, Shanghai, Pudong, 409 Huamu Road, 201204
Highlights: The Shanghai Century Park is an oasis of green and tranquility in a city that runs on speed and lights. This park is a huge place with lakes, trees, cherry blossoms and garden. It is a wonderful place if you love nature. There is an entrance fee of RMB$10 but it's totally worth it. 🥰
At the end of Century Avenue, you will find the Century Flower Clock. This icon is a large clock with many cheerful and colorful flower decorations all around. The river side is beautiful as well. I would really recommend to rent a small boat to explore around.😉

Picnic on a Sunny Afternoon
Went to Century Park few weeks after we first got released from lockdown. No entrance ticket needed (before it was ¥10). So many people came to enjoy fresh air after months being locked at home. The black swans seems to enjoy the attention, too! A good place to take a long afternoon stroll and breathe some fresh air!
Best time to visit: spring or autumn.
Getting There - Metro Line 2, Century Park station
Attractions - Large park with several different areas
Food & Restaurants - Several food stalls inside park
Shopping - Can buy bike ticket or, if it’s opened, ticket for mini amusement park rides inside.

A Green Escape in a Concrete Jungle
This was one of the first places I went after Shanghai’s long lockdown, and it felt amazing to just stretch my legs in the sunshine and surrounded by nature. There was an incredible vibe here too, the park was filled with life: people jogging, having picnics with friends, playing frisbee, bird-feeding sitting by the lake or lying on shaded grassy areas with a book.
Spanning around 340 acres of land, Century Park makes for a great afternoon out on a sunny day. Whether you’re looking to go for a leisurely stroll and catch up with a friend, a snack-filled picnic, a long run or to admire the flora and fauna, there’s plenty of room and opportunity to do so.
The park is split into several areas: a scenic lakeside area, a forest landscape area, a nature reserve, folk village and more.
As per regulations following the latest lockdown in Shanghai, you will need to show a green QR code and a negative pcr result from the last 72 hours in order to get into the park.
How to get there: From downtown Shanghai, take line 2 and take Exit 1 at Century Park Station.
There are numerous gates through which you can enter the park.

Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Plum blossom season is here, and there's no better place to admire them than Shanghai's Century Park. This large space encompasses woods, running tracks, playgrounds, lawns, and lakes - great for camping trips with the kids. Its peaceful atmosphere and springlike scenery also make it the perfect place for photography enthusiasts to capture the essence of the season.
Don't bother with travel
home door
also have a color
called "autumn"...
waited for a season, finally received Gaston Luga this white classic backpack, although Summer has passed.
So, I put a heavy SLR and a 14-inch Mac in a backpack, releasing light hands to embrace the fall; so I have a favorite white backpack that can match the depth of autumn and winter. Color clothing; so, I can carry Gaston Luga on the horizon. . .
Simple, stylish and generous Swedish classic bag adds a comfortable white to the autumn.
In Century Park, you can not only enjoy plum blossoms, but also picnics, cycling and other activities, as well as lakes for fishing. It is a good place for dogs and babies.
There are more people on weekends. It is recommended to go to the morning or later, and you can't enter the park at around 6 pm, so don't be too late. I am willing to live next to the park. I have nothing to do. I walked in the park every three or five times. Is this a normal life, is it not the longing life of people who are on the road every day?

"Shanghai Century Park, you really had a blooming good time"
Shanghai Century Park is a sea of flowers. When spring arrives, it becomes a world of flowers, attracting countless tourists to come and admire.
Entering Century Park is like stepping into a colorful dream. A variety of flowers bloom competitively, red like fire, pink like rosy clouds, white like snow, vying for beauty, a feast for the eyes. Strolling along the flower-lined paths, feeling the gentle touch of the breeze, and the fragrance of flowers is overwhelming, making one feel relaxed and happy.
The peach blossoms are bright and tender, shy and lovely like a young girl; cherry blossoms fall like snow, romantic and beautiful; tulips stand tall and colorful, like a splendid painting; peonies are dignified and luxurious, majestic, displaying the style of a king. Each flower is a sprite of nature, using their beauty to decorate the world.
Visitors weave through the flowers, either taking photos to commemorate the moment or observing closely, with happy smiles on their faces. Children play and frolic among the flowers, their laughter echoing in the air. Here, people can not only appreciate the beauty of the flowers but also feel the beauty and happiness of life.
The flower viewing trip at Shanghai Century Park is an intimate encounter with nature, a feast for both the eyes and the soul. Here, we can forget all our troubles, immerse ourselves in the world of flowers, and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the moment.
April flower season in Century Park
The Century Park in the center of Pudong is a healing paradise for workers. During the warm but not intense spring sunshine at noon, you can walk around the Mirror Lake in just one hour.
Wandering through the tall and dense forest, watching the explosive blooming of the camellia flowers, surprises are everywhere. The vast and flat lawn is where children frolic, a leisurely space under the sky canopy. For a moment, it feels like a holiday, or an hour's escape from a workday.
❗Must-visit
1⃣️Enter from Gate No. 1, on the viewing platform on the north side of Mirror Lake, the hydrangea flowers are still waiting for their turn to take the stage, surrounded by a forest of camellia trees making their entrance. Huge white flowers densely cover the sky. The flowers on a camellia tree have different blooming periods; the ones just blooming are light green, and there are also transcendent white ones.
2⃣️Today's sky is so blue, the lake water sparkles, and little boats wander in the lake. Boxwood flowers are a surprise by the lake. The small flowers are dense, with bright yellow color.
3⃣️The flower bushes by the roadside are the seasonal azaleas, with various varieties and colors.
4⃣️Walking to the south side of Mirror Lake, this large area is the world of poppies and pansies, with colorful displays set against the lawn, and further away, the lake water and the blue sky.
💢I really want to just lie down here, on the lawn and among the flowers.

Shanghai Suburban Trips! The cherry blossoms in Century Park are in full bloom!
Yesterday was a mix of wind and rain, but today is clear and sunny!
The long-awaited cherry blossoms have finally bloomed, an annual event,
a once-in-a-lifetime encounter, the flowers are ready. It's recommended to wear light-colored or white clothing for better photos.
I cherish the time spent recharging in the park at noon, grateful for nature, grateful for the flowers.
The Earth is already 4.5 billion years old, plants first appeared during the Cambrian period 5 years ago, and it was only 400 million years later that the first angiosperm bloomed on this world.
From becoming a terrestrial plant to blooming a flower, it took 400 million years, so why are humans in such a hurry?

🌟Highlights:
During the hot summer, early mornings and evenings become the best times to visit the park. The air is fresh in the morning, and in the evening, the breeze in Century Park dispels the steaming heat of the day. As the lights gradually come on and dusk approaches, the sky with its natural filter and the deep blue color make for the most beautiful photo moments.
Century Park is picturesque throughout the year, with flowers blooming in succession during the summer. June to September is the best time to appreciate lotuses in Century Park. Living nearby, I almost go to the park every morning and after dinner to see how many lotuses have bloomed today~ Each visit makes me realize that many blooming lotuses have been stolen early in the morning by some with bad behavior. How infuriating!
✍🏻|Recommended Seasonal Attraction|
🪷This year, the best spot to view lotuses in Century Park is at the Montreal Garden near Gate 6. The star of June's summer days - the lotus - is eager to make its appearance, and the lotus pond inside the park is already a refreshing and tenderly pink beautiful sight. Covering nearly 4000 square meters, the lotuses are blooming one after another, tender and delicate, bringing joy to the heart!
🪷Standing on the Wind Lotus Bridge and looking out, you can see an endless stretch of lotus leaves reaching for the sky. Looking across the clear blue water, you'll see large, serene lotuses, white, pink, light yellow... This year, there are even more pink lotuses, so pure and tranquil that they truly embody the phrase 'Out of the mud but not stained, cleansing oneself in clear ripples without being flirtatious.'
🪷Daytime lotuses and evening lotuses are two completely different scenes, each with its own characteristics, and both are worth admiring!
✍🏻Let's learn a bit about the difference between day and night lotuses:
Question: Why do lotuses close at night and open in the morning?
Answer: Lotuses close at night and open in the morning due to the influence of light. They will fully bloom in a well-lit environment. Lotuses generally start to bloom around 4:00-5:00 am, and after being exposed to light and performing photosynthesis, accumulating sufficient nutrients, they begin to unfold their petals. The best time to view them is between 6:00-8:00 am when the light is more abundant, which can cause the lotus petals to fully bloom and stretch out. Around 5:00 pm, as the sun sets and the light diminishes, the temperature drops, and the lotuses will slowly close their petals.
📌Little Tips: The above photos were taken during the following time periods: early morning + evening around 6 pm

🌟Highlights:
Since 2018, Century Park has successfully held five 'Century Night Owls Operations'. This year marks the sixth year, and the 'Insect Wars' science night tour event of the 2023 Century Night Owls Operation kicked off on the evening of July 1st.
📆Event date: July 1st to August 20th (every weekend)
📍Event location: Century Park Tonggeng Farm (near Park Gate 3)
✅The 2023 'Century Night Owls Operation' combines 'science popularization lectures, scientific investigations, and practical operations' into one, with multiple links interlocking and progressively deepening. Children gain knowledge while enjoying fun, enhancing their physique, and stimulating their interests.
✅The event is divided into 6 sections:
1⃣️First is the science class opening with the 'Caterpillar vs. Parasitic Wasp' video. The main teacher educates the children about the current pest situation in Shanghai and its impact on ecology and plants, and through the 'Guess the Natural Enemies' game, they learn about the related knowledge of natural enemy species.
2⃣️After the science popularization session, teachers show the children some domestic and international pest specimens for actual observation of the pests' physiological structure.
3⃣️Then they set off for field investigations, catching insects. The children, equipped with materials, set off with the teachers into the night of Century Park for an adventure of 'Insect Wars', searching for traces of various pests and natural enemies, as well as the biological control measures actually used in the park. The teachers answered all the children's questions.
4⃣️At the designated activity location, they invite the day's 'mercenaries'—the velvet ant, to learn about its biological characteristics and the principles of controlling longhorn beetles. Under the supervision of their parents, the children release the velvet ants to fight a real 'Insect War'.
5⃣️After the 'Insect War', they return to the designated science popularization location (according to the insects' phototaxis, the teachers set up a white screen at the start and lit professional light traps). At this time, the white screen is filled with various insects🪲. The teachers explain the principle of light trapping and introduce the members and habits of the insect families on the screen.
6⃣️Finally, the 'Little Guardians of the Home' will receive a group social practice certificate and a biological blind box gift from the organizer.
🪲Nature is a mysterious and colorful world, with millions of 'troops' in the insect kingdom. In Shanghai's Century Park, there are also different 'troops' of insects. This summer vacation, bring the children to the Century Night Owls Operation-Insect Wars, to be a brave 'Little Guardian of the Home' and explore with the teachers the nocturnal creatures in nature, each with their own duties, and understand the symbiotic and antagonistic relationships between species. Children gain knowledge while enjoying fun and enhancing their physique.
📌Little Tips:
1⃣️The courses for July and August are currently full, and it is said that additional sessions will be opened in mid to late August. Please pay attention to the subsequent registration information from Shanghai Century Park.
2⃣️For self-driving navigation to Gate 3 of Century Park, there are plenty of parking spaces at night. Enter Gate 3 and you will see Century Park Tonggeng Farm right in front.

✅With the arrival of summer, the 'Fragrant Flower Garden' in Century Park, an urban green lung spanning 215,000 square meters, has finally taken down its nearly 1,000-meter-long walls, blending with the surrounding neighborhood to create a more pleasant ecological living space for the public. This makes the Fragrant Flower Garden in Century Park a true 'city garden' within a 'garden city'.
✅In addition to the removal of the walls, the Fragrant Flower Garden has added 5 new pedestrian entrances and exits on top of the original two, which not only serve as passageways for residents and tourists through the garden but also integrate the park's greenery with the city.
✅While the walls were being removed, the Fragrant Flower Garden also underwent renovation and landscaping enhancements, with rock gardens, lawn flower beds, and garden features emerging as the garden's invisible outer walls. The boundary between the park and the city has become blurred, with nature and culture intermingling. Passing through the plant communities, visitors enter a verdant, vibrant urban garden.
✅Besides the demolition of the walls, the addition of greenery, and the creation of convenient pathways, the opening hours of the Fragrant Flower Garden have also been extended from 5 am to 10 pm. With its doors wide open, the Fragrant Flower Garden offers a higher quality park environment for residents and tourists, allowing more people to enjoy this green space. The service hours of the public toilets are also in line with the opening hours of the park.
🌟The most unique feature of the Fragrant Flower Garden is a landscape with an 'Olmec head' on the large lawn, which is a replica of 'Olmec Head No. 8'. When Century Park was built, the government of Veracruz, Mexico, presented it to the Shanghai Municipal Government as a symbol of friendship between the people of the two places.
📌Little Tips: If you're driving, it's recommended to navigate to Gates 3/7; you can usually find a parking spot in the morning, at 6 yuan/hour

Although it's already autumn, the weather is still very hot. Going to the park for a run is best in the early morning or evening. In the early morning and evening, there are many bird watching enthusiasts in Century Park, waiting by the lake of Fenghe Bridge with their cameras ready for the moment when the birds are hunting, capturing the natural and lively images of the birds. Looking at the focused expressions of the photographers, although I don't have professional photography equipment like them, I have my phone with me every day. Although I can't capture the most dynamic side of the birds taking off, I can capture the moment when the photographers are focused and engaged. Salute to the photographers!
📷There are two main elements to photographing birds: light and enough patience are the two main elements to capture the dynamic sense and feather layering of birds.
📷The best time to photograph birds is in the early morning and evening, especially between 6:00 and 8:00 in the morning. The light is softer at this time, which is more suitable for bird photography. The birds are just waking up and are more active, making it easier to capture dynamic images of the birds. Soft light can avoid large shadows when shooting bird details.
📷In the evening, birds need to store energy before going to sleep, so they are also particularly active in the evening. During these two periods, it is easiest to capture the dynamic images of these cute birds.
📷The trajectory of a bird's movement is actually quite difficult to predict. To capture the most dynamic side of a bird taking off, you need to wait patiently for a long time, and you need to set the shooting mode to continuous shooting in advance, which can better guarantee the shooting effect.
📌Small Tips: The Fenghe Bridge in Century Park is also the best place to watch lotus flowers. In the early morning, you can capture the process of lotus flowers slowly opening. This also requires enough patience. In the early morning, it takes about an hour for a lotus flower to fully open from being closed.
Empty yourself in autumn
In the Century Park in autumn, in the picturesque scenery, empty yourself, silence makes people strong! Stay calm and go far...

Mother Rabbit said if someone takes a picture of the lotus, post it
Thirty-one degrees, cloudy, going out, thinking it won't rain. After exiting the subway, I found that the rain was quite heavy, but I didn't have an umbrella. Mother Rabbit decided to wait a bit, waited for five minutes, no change, Mother Rabbit decided to give it another ten minutes, if it still doesn't stop, she will return home by subway, but the rain stopped after eight minutes.
Entered the Century Park Gate 2, the navigation shows that to go to the Wind Lotus Bridge, you need to turn left and go up the stairs. Everyone decided to take the main road to avoid possible mosquitoes, so they encountered the musical fountain at exactly ten o'clock, a nice little joy.
The lotus flowers are not very outstanding, but they win in being relatively primitive and approachable, and it just rained, a bit moist.
Appreciating flowers is just a mood, being happy is the most beautiful!
Recommendations for the most worthwhile free parks in Shanghai
1 Minhang Cultural Park
The large lawn is super suitable for camping and kite flying, super photogenic, it feels like a whole Miyazaki animation. There are also reed bushes, a small lake, which is too suitable for daily walks and strolling with children. There is also a museum nearby, and Qibao Ancient Town is also nearby. After strolling around and getting hungry, you can go to the ancient town for a meal🍜
2 Binjiang Forest Park If you are here to see the Huangpu River, go to the Bund. Everywhere you look is yellow. Running here to take pictures of the water really doesn't come out. It's better to go to Dripping Lake. But the park environment is impeccable. When we went, there was a large patch of small purple flowers🌸, super beautiful, and the whole park is full of greenery. The photos taken don't need to be retouched. The only drawback is that it is too far away and transportation is not convenient🚗
3 Century Park
The park is very quiet, there are black swans and white pigeons🕊️ inside, and people dancing with music💃🏻, very suitable for daily walks
4. Gongqing Forest Park
Don't go because of what Monet Garden, it may disappoint you. But I personally think this park is very worthwhile. You can camp. We went in the fall. At that time, there were a few ginkgo trees and golden light scattered in the forest. The small train🚞 passes through the grass, it's really beautiful. The park is very large, right by the Huangpu River, so you can also see the river and ships, but it is separated by a concrete wall
athena.cordelia.willowdale Pine cone + earth skin + pink maiden, National Day Century Park is a great surprise
What kind of experience is it to be hit on the head by a pine cone on a tree?
On the first day of the long holiday, I took a light stroll in Century Park
The autumn is high and refreshing, it's the best time to appreciate the scenery
I started from Gate 7 and walked all the way to Gate 1, there were so many surprises along the way
At first, I thought the pine cone was a board corn, but then I took a closer look and it didn't seem right~
Board corn is fully wrapped, this fruit is half-wrapped, wearing a half-length puffy skirt
There was an aunt next to me who also thought it was a board corn and wanted to taste it, I quickly persuaded her not to eat it
She tasted it and said it was bitter, but later she remembered that there was some in her hometown, this could also be eaten, but it had to be cooked 😂
There are so many beautiful sceneries along the way
Finally, I came to the pink maiden, the pink maiden is a bit sparse
I also found the earth skin, the earth skin has a smaller diameter, it's still a baby level
But if you find a good angle to take pictures, it's still pretty
If you have time during the long holiday, come to Century Park and discover the surprises of nature!

Autumn fairy tale, golden flower sea, sunflowers bloom in the city center
📷Shooting time: 9.10
🍃The weather in early autumn is so suitable for going to the park. On the weekend, I took my child to Century Park, rented a four-wheel pedal car🚲, rode and admired the flowers, and my mood was fully relaxed😌
•
A large golden sunflower sea is in full bloom!
There are nearly 10,000 square meters, mainly located in the rural garden area (near gate 3). There are not many people admiring the flowers, and it is easy to find a good spot~🌈Walking in the sunflower sea, as if you have entered Van Gogh's painting, it is beautiful
•
☕️A new Alpha Burger has been opened near the sunflower sea. The snack bar sells burgers, juices, and ice cream. The prices are reasonable. They are all camping chairs, under the shade of the trees, facing a large lawn, the seats are very good~
•
🍂This year's Century Park also has a local skin (rural garden area), fluffy and neatly arranged, it is still green recently, it will turn red in late autumn at the end of October, and then you can admire chrysanthemums, reeds, ginkgo, metasequoia, colorful and super beautiful, like a fairy tale world, looking forward to the beautiful scenery of the park in autumn~
