This 5-day, 4-night trip to Switzerland was a dream come true for a snow lover like me. I specifically visited Grindelwald, located in the Jungfrau region. Here, you can take a cable car to First and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. Visiting in winter, you get to see even more stunning snowy landscapes. The cable car ride offers views of the mountain scenery, and although most of it is covered in snow, you can still spot some wooden villages on the ground. I highly recommend setting aside a day to explore this area. It's absolutely worth it!

When it comes to snow scenery, you must visit First in Switzerland, located at an altitude of 2,168 meters! This mountain is part of the Jungfrau region, and the scenery here is simply breathtaking. During my time at First, I made sure to buy a cup of Ovaltine and enjoy it while taking in the stunning mountain views, which was particularly delightful! One of the must-visit spots is the photo area with the Swiss flag, and there's also a viewing platform where you can take pictures with the First mountain in the background. If you love photography, you definitely shouldn't miss this!

With a chill in the air and hunger setting in, we couldn't resist trying the local fare. We ordered alpine pizza and a hearty homemade minestrone filled with pasta, fresh vegetables, and herbs, along with the must-try bacon rösti and a traditional dish of chopped beef. To quench our thirst, we opted for Swiss wine, a rare treat back in Malaysia. The highlight was the Jungfrau coffee, served in a whimsical paper cup placed inside a mug adorned with mountain scenes, which I joyfully took home as a memento. With its cozy traditional decor, Kleine Scheidegg is a must-visit for anyone looking to eat like a local in this stunning region.

The most fun place in Switzerland is Mount First

Mount First is undoubtedly the 'most fun' place in Grindelwald. Once you leave the town, you will find the cable car station at the foot of the mountain. After reaching the summit by cable car, you can enjoy a series of fun activities without any interruption all the way down. The First Cliff Walk by Tissot is an aerial walkway built at an altitude of 2171 meters along the mountain wall. Walking on it, you cross steep cliffs and rivers, and you can gaze at the Alps from different angles, overlooking the wonderful scenery of Switzerland. The mountain restaurant offers snacks and coffee; sit down and enjoy the view of the Eiger peak, which is incredibly beautiful. From the First viewpoint, it is a 50-minute hike to Lake Bachalpsee. The path is quite sunny, but the scenery is absolutely cinematic, and there are many cows.

This hotel... It really gave off a 'we're private!' vibe. It's very European, but it feels like you're on another planet. The jacuzzi was especially impressive. It's not that big, it's just big enough for three couples, but you can enjoy the jacuzzi while looking straight at the Grindelwald view... wow🏝 Oh, and there's a sauna, which is special! It's a nude sauna for both men and women. They asked if it was okay, and I thought, "Should I try it once?!?" but I wasn't confident🤣 The concerts below the hotel aren't a common sight every weekend, but it was a festival season! So I think it would be a good idea to check if there's a festival and make a reservation for Grindelwald. I was going to go out for dinner, but I ended up eating while listening to festival music and drinking a lot of food and beer I bought at COOP. First Cliff Walk

#thingstodo Beautiful cable car ride up the mountain. We went snowboarding at Grindelwald First. It was an incredible experience! I highly recommend checking out Grindelwald First, whether it is sightseeing or snow activities. You won't be disappointed This was such a cool experience!!! My husband is scared of heights but he was very brave and I don’t think he regrets doing it. It seems very safe and structurally sound, the bridge does sway as you go across it. The views are breathtaking here and if no one is around it is so quiet! I really enjoyed the experience and it ends up at the restaurant and the store which is cool, you can only go in one direction so if you want to do it again you can just loop around. They say the full loop takes about 20 mins and I think that’s about right. It doesn’t cost to do this when you get up to the first, so you can do it all you’d like! Amazing place to check out. You do need to spend about 85 swiss $ to get to the top but you can get there by hiking for free I think. Make sure you get tickets to the cart ride or any adventure ticket because they sell out fast and close early

Swiss Grindelwald | The dreamy slope in the fairy tale

Grindelwald, located at the foot of the Alps, is a picturesque Swiss town, like the scene in the movie 'Heidi and Grandpa', it's truly a super dreamy fairy tale The scenery of the mountains and countryside around the town is very charming, known as the dreamy slope. The starting point of the hiking route is Grindelwald train station, the whole journey takes about 1 hour round trip, and the scenery along the way is breathtaking. Sitting in the cafe of the hotel looking at the snow mountain opposite, I guess nature is gentle, the unspeakable joy, happiness, regret, she understands, she responds to you with vigorous green, everything is unspoken. 📷Recommended photo spots 📍Jungfrau Lodge, Annex Crystal Hotel It's a 5-minute walk from the train station, the first floor is an open parking spot, you can see the dreamy slope through the first floor of the hotel. 📍Hotel Cabana It's right next to the train station, the bus station is also very convenient, on a small viewing platform on the west side of the hotel. 📍Grill Bar A bar near the Grindelwald Terminal station by the river. 🚗Transportation: It is recommended to drive, the Coop supermarket has a paid parking lot.

Once you hike down this Eiger Trail, other places sceneries are not comparable anymore. Getting There - From Jungfraujoch : Take Mountain Train down to Eigergletscher station. Find Eiger Trail sign behind the station/ask the staff, start there and just follow the route. Attractions - Hiking with breathtaking scenery, suitable for healthy children (around 5+ y.o) with guardian/adults. #timetotravel Wonderful family owned hotel/chalet in Grindelwald that is 15 mins walk away from the Grindelwald train terminal. As we had travelled from big cities like Vienna, Munich and Zurich, Hotel Cabana is the perfect place of relaxation, away from the hustle and bustle. Staff at the reception are nice, while checking in for us, she gave us advice as to how we can get tickets to jungfrau etc. Hotel Cabana is a traditional-looking chalet, and it is very well-maintained and clean. We booked the room with garden access and it did not disappoint!! On our first day, it did not snow so we get to enjoy the greenery. However, on our first night, it started snowing so we had the opportunity to also witness the snow ❄️😍 I definitely recommend staying at Hotel Cabana when you are in Grindelwald. Summer time, one place which you can chill at and watch the sun set, admire the scenery, watch the iconic Swiss train pass by - when the weather is good - would be the Parliment building. It provides a good photo spot for humans, buildings, architecture, and also the area around Bern. Recommended to come for an hour around 2000. Berne is such a wonderful place. Set in the heart of Switzerland, Bern is the gateway to the Alps. There are bears roaming freely around the city walls (in a safe environment). The people are nice, wonderful food and most of all, the beautiful architecture. It is one of Europe’s smallest capitals but punches above its weight when it comes to world-class galleries, unbeatable urban swimming and, of course, chocolates! For the best overview of Berne’s old town, climb up from the river to the Rosengarten. It has a restaurant, and its benches are popular in the colder months as it catches the sun. Please do visit when you have time!

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!

Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes! Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee! There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat! There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too! As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex. The First Cliff Walk is just about 300 meters long, and what we saw was just white scenery due to the snow. With this weather in May, we can imagine how snowy it will get in winter time.
