Hike up a hill to a neighbourhood park

Singapore has many green spaces dotted around the island, big and small. While it may be easy to miss the smaller parks or take them for granted, it is still worth exploring these neighbourhood parks and gardens, as they provide recreation for the residents staying in the area and allow them to destress and appreciate nature. Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West sprawls on a hillock in a quiet neighbourhood of Ang Mo Kio opposite the library. There are many steps and roads to give visitors a good cardio workout, or to simply enjoy some fresh air and the greenery provided by the sprawling grass and towering trees. One can get to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the area by climbing up the stairs to the plaza. The roads are either flat or gentle slopes, hence getting around the park is generally manageable though tiring. At the bottom of the hill, there is also a sandy playground with swings, slides and rope towers for the kids to play and expend their energy. There is also a Macdonald’s outlet near the playground which not only allows dine in and takeaway, but also has a drive-thru for those who drive.
