The ancient architectural complex centered around the Colosseum

Coming to the ancient Roman Colosseum, there are two assumptions you should not make. First, do not assume that just walking around and looking at the outer walls of the Colosseum is enough; the real essence lies within. Second, do not think that visiting the Colosseum means only seeing this one attraction, when in fact it is the center of a group of sites, which also includes the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, and the Palatine Hill. Moreover, just a hundred meters away is the Piazza Venezia. The ancient Roman Colosseum reflects not so much the essence of its ancient architectural art, but rather embodies the savagery of ancient Italy, where only bread and games were the main interests, the dominance of religion in the Middle Ages, and the madness of modern times. Without coming to the site to understand the evolution of its past and present, one will remain with a simple and vague understanding of it.
