Xunpu Village in Quanzhou

Located 10 kilometers from the downtown area of Quanzhou, by the seaside, there is a village called Xunpu. There are two unique sights here. First, the elderly women in the village all wear floral hairpins called 'Zan Hua Wei', and people refer to them as Xunpu women. Although they are close to the modern material life, they still devoutly pass down the lifestyle inherited from their ancestors. Together with the women of Hui'an and Meizhou, they are known as the three major fishing women of Fujian. Second, the residential buildings in the village use oyster shells and sea mud for their exterior walls, which people call 'Oyster Shell Houses'. This unique architecture attracts tourists to come and take a look. Nowadays, as a tourist attraction, young people dress up as Xunpu women to take photos and keep memories.
