Zhangzhou - Dongxi Farm

Zhangzhou City's Dongxi Farm is located amidst many hills and mountains, with a beautiful environment situated along the Dongxi River. It boasts unique pastoral landscapes, cultural landmarks such as the Chengze Building, and the Fujian Mountain Biking Training Base. To accelerate the construction of beautiful rural areas in Dongxi Farm, Guokeng Town aims to create a characteristic eco-cultural tourism town in southern Fujian. The town is improving and upgrading village infrastructure, perfecting village functional facilities, and comprehensively planning and designing Dongxi Farm. It is also carrying out simultaneous rectification and construction, cleaning up garbage in front of and behind village houses, planting various types of green seedlings at the entrance to the village, and setting up landscape facilities and node signs such as straw cows, straw houses, and straw people. The village's main roads' walls are decorated with cultural and creative paintings. At the same time, the renovation of Dongxi Farmhouse Restaurant and 4 Dongxi Homestays with 19 beds has been completed and opened for business. The Wangqiushuiyun Leisure Square, landscape corridor, and supporting roads have been built and put into use. This has gradually changed the village's original 'dirty, messy, and bad' image, transforming it into a beautiful rural area that is clean, green, well-functioning, and rich in local cultural characteristics. Near the farm's headquarters is the Chengze Building, built in the eighth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1743), commonly known as 'Miss Building,' a famous local ancient structure. Dongxi is known for its high-quality 'Mi Secret Porcelain,' which is renowned throughout the country. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was offered as a tribute to the court, used by the imperial household and government offices, and the rest was sold to Southeast Asia and then re-exported to Europe and America, favored by the upper classes both domestically and internationally. The National Museum of Chinese History has a collection of a seated Sakyamuni statue, 62.6 centimeters high, inscribed with 'Great Ming Wanli Yi Mao Year' (1615) and 'Zhangzhou Prefecture Dongxi Township,' among other marks. It is listed as a national first-class cultural relic and one of China's six famous porcelains. In the early Qing Dynasty, the country's closed-door policy led to the decline of Dongxi kiln rice porcelain production, which gradually declined, closed down, and eventually ceased production, leaving historical sites.
